Ootoya: The Japanese Pork Cutlet Haven

page

Like innocent kids who stumbled upon candy hidden in a jar, we couldn’t stop smiling at each other. 10 months ago, we were seated at this very same spot. Ootoya at Orchard Central sure brings back many fond memories because this is the place where we hung out together on our very first date πŸ™‚

Because our previous dining experience was good, we decided to revisit Ootoya not only to relieve those memories, but to satisfy our pork cutlet craving! Anyway, we were supposed to grind these sesame seeds and mix some special sauce in. Haha why do we have to pay for service charge for doing such things on our own? πŸ˜›

The sesame seeds were really fragrant after all that grinding. Together with the special sauce, it was a really good sauce dip to go with Ootoya’s Charcoal Grilled Pork Set ($12.50 a la carte, $17.50 set). With a faint hint of charcoal smokiness, every piece of grilled pork was tender. Besides the special sauce with sesame dip, there were other dips available. Just try everything!

We had a craving for this. Big big craving. Every bite of the Breaded Pork Loin Cutlet ($11 a la carte, $16 set) was crispy and crusty, oozing tender juiciness! Again, you should try it with the different sauce dips.

I had initially wanted to order the same as Chewy Charles but the Breaded Pork Loin Simmered with Egg ($11 a la carte, $16 set) looked even more tempting on the menu! Freshly fried pork cutlet simmered with special sauce and egg with sweet onion was pure comfort food. Loved how wobbly the egg was done! The pork cutlet was not as crispy as the normal breaded one but well, at least the sauce was great.

We will definitely head to Ootoya again the next time the pork cutlet craving hits us! πŸ˜› No doubts about it! Where’s your favorite place for pork cutlet? πŸ™‚

  1. My friends and I wanted to go to Ootoya for dinner yesterday but alas, the queue was too long! πŸ™ Btw, we were all wondering, what’s the difference between set and ala-carte?

    • Oh shucks, should have made reservations! We dropped by at weird timings anyway. Lke 3pm for lunch? Haha. Set consists of rice, soup and small portions of appetizers πŸ™‚

      • Haha cos it was a random decision to go for dinner at Orchard Central. Anyway in the end we went to Spageddie’s. πŸ™‚ The set sounds quite worth the extra few dollars!
