Ever since my very first eyebrow embroidery experience at Browtisan two weeks ago, my self confidence shot through the roof. Believe it or not, I’m someone who practically have no eyebrows. If I were to step out of the house without any basic makeup, I still have to draw my eyebrows. It is something I don’t enjoy doing because I am unable to master the art of drawing perfect eyebrows. Thanks to Browtisan, my life changed for the better!
Browtisan stems from the word Brow and Artisan, which is a name coined to reflect the skills and artistry of its ultra-specialised subset of aestheticians. Even though Browtisan is a young brand, the person at the helm is Coco, a veteran in the brow and facial grooming industry. Besides having more than 20 years of experience in this industry, Coco constantly develops new techniques and trains aspiring aestheticians in the art of brow crafting. Many of her trainees have also gone on to be entrepreneurs of their own salons. With the intention of pursuing her long-term dream of having her own salon and to create a new standard in the industry, Coco decided to embark on her own business. Her dream was finally materialized after months of efforts when Browtisan finally had its soft opening in October 2014. I am also full of admiration for Coco when I learned that she provides complimentary eyebrow embroidery services to cancer patients to boost their self confidence.
Upon my arrival, Coco introduced herself and I was subsequently offered a cup of tea and ushered to a comfortable seat. Coco then explained that eyebrow embroidery is a semi-permanent procedure done on the superficial layer of the skin and lasts around 2 to 4 years (depending on your skin type), unlike eyebrow tattoo which allows ink to penetrate deep into our skin and is rather permanent. Coco carefully assessed my facial features and decided that my eyebrows cannot be too thin and I need a little arch because my face is quite round while my forehead is a little high.
Coco proceeded to apply anesthetic cream on my eyebrows and then used 3M™ Tegaderm™ Transparent Film Dressing so that the numbing cream can be better absorbed into the skin. The numbing process took about 15 to 20 minutes. It is also the best time to visit the washroom if you need to, before the actual eyebrow embroidery process begins!
Can you see that my eyebrows are almost non existent?!
Before designing my eyebrow shape, Coco helped to remove stray hair around my eyebrows.
The designing process took a much longer time as Coco is very meticulous and has a keen eye for detail. She made sure that both eyebrows are of the same length, thickness and shape. Coco’s professionalism made me feel confident that she will do a splendid job on my eyebrows and I was right!
I was so happy with my new eyebrow design that I could walk out just like that! But no, more had to be done.
After being led into a room, I had to don a robe and a shower cap so that my hair wouldn’t get in the way. I was also given pillow to hug in case I felt any discomfort during the process. To be honest, I was very very nervous because the idea of a blade scrapping against my skin was way too intimidating.
A first in the industry, Browtisan combines Creative Eyebrow Techniques, high clinical standards and hygiene with the latest Swiss microscopic amplification technology. Surprisingly, the cutting process was rather painless. Besides making every single eyebrow stroke more refined, accurate, detailed and most importantly – painless, hygienic and professionally done, Browtisan also ensurse that their premises are sterilized with infrared technology for the highest level of hygiene.
I could only hear the sound of the blade scrapping against my skin but after a while, it didn’t bother me anymore. I got too comfortable and almost fell asleep! Ink was being rubbed into my eyebrows so that the color can be absorbed.
Now I can finally tell everyone that I love my eyebrows! There are no side effects from doing eyebrow embroidery. I can still breastfeed and also eat seafood and raw fish. However, I was told not to let my eyebrows touch water for at least 5 days and had to use the transparent film dressing which can be bought at Watsons whenever I wanted to wash my face.
Totally loving my new eyebrows! They look really natural and best of all, I don’t have to draw my own eyebrows anymore!
A big thank you to Coco for changing my life! Eyebrow embroidery at Browtisan starts from $1380 onwards and includes one touch up session. Quote “MISSUSCHEWY” to enjoy 10% off the usual price, till 31 December 2014.

Very nice! Save a task in the morning rush.
Yes! I find eyebrows hardest to draw!
Hi, can I ask if Coco did the Creative Brow for your brows or was it the Natural Brow?
Sorry it was quite some time ago but I think it was the Creative Brow! If not, you can show her my photo!
