Now that it’s the second day of 2012, I hope 1st Jan had been a good start for all of you! 2011 has been a very good and exciting year for misterchewy and myself. These were the most memorable happenings from the beginning of the year all the way till the end. I suppose the second half of the year was more interesting! :P
14 February 2011 – We celebrated Valentine’s Day with each other for the very first time! Had dinner at Orchard Central’s Sarang, which is a Korean restaurant. The then-boyfriend got me a bouquet of bears! <3
20 to 22 May 2011 – Hit the sand and the sea at Redang with misterchewy and his NTU friends! The sun seemed to be on shift, so we didnt get much of a tan. Haha! Really fun because it was our first time snorkelling together! :D
28 May 2011 – I thought we should engage in other activities other than just eating so we signed up for the Sundown Half-Marathon! Heh.. I guess we have to admit that we are getting old! BUT.. We have plans to sign up for other races this year! :)
11 to 18 June 2011 – Joined misterchewy and his parents on a one-week trip to Taiwan! Whoa ho! We ate and ate and ate and shopped and shopped and shopped! The only thing I disliked was the extremely hot weather and scorching sun. Apart from that, it was a good break away from work to spend time together with misterchewy :)
25 June 2011 – If you have not read about the surprise proposal that misterchewy came up with, with the help of his friends, you can read all about it here. I will always reminisce this day for the rest of my life. The day that I cried buckets because I was really touched by what he had come up with. :’)
I could watch this video a thousand times and never get sick of it :P Will definitely show it to my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren! Hehe!
26 June 2011 – This day also happened to be our 11th monthsary, which was one day after the proposal. Best way to remember it? Take engagement shots! :P
26 July 2011 – Exactly a month later, we celebrated our First Year Anniversary. Went back to Raindrops Cafe where we first became officially together. I suggested we should wear the same thing, go back to the same place and pose the same way for our photo! :P Just for the fun of it and for comparision sake!
27 July 2011 – Yay! The boy graduated from NTU with a Second Upper Class Honours in Chemical Engineering! He’s currently working in a reputable MNC and can take care of my expenses. LOL! Kidding about the second part :P
9 September 2011 – This is a very special day for us as it is misterchewy’s birthday and also the day of our solemnization! It was held at Grand Copthorne Waterfront. Interestingly, our post on spending our first night as husband and wife at the hotel rendered the most number of blog hits!
25 December 2011 – Definitely a very different feeling altogether when you know that it is your first time spending Christmas together as husband and wife. It was also our first time watching a musical together! Well, there’s always a first for everything. Besides, we have been together for about 1 and a half years only :P
31 December 2011 – Kissing 2011 goodbye! Haha! We were all ready to welcome 2012 at Clake Quay! Had some drinks at Rebel before the countdown began. Yeah can’t believe we chose beer over fireworks but we managed to catch a glimpse outside Liang Court.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family, friends and readers for the support that they have given to this blog. May 2012 be filled with good eats, love, wealth and good health for all of you! :D
Yes. I am officially engaged :) It’s not that I didn’t see this marriage proposal coming. Yeah how can I be so sure? It’s because we work backwards. Last Sept/Oct, after seeking approval from our parents, we balloted for a BTO flat 3 months into dating and was very lucky to get a nice queue number! Location is ideal and we will be staying around the 20th floor (bye to smelly garbage trucks)! Everything went very smoothly and we decided that we will tie the knot in Sept this year. Subsequently, we found a photographer for our engagement shoot and also booked a venue for our solemnization ceremony in Feb. So, apart from the wedding cake and invitation cards, we were only left with one thing — the marriage proposal!
Two crucial questions: 1) WHEN is he going to propose? and 2) HOW is he going to propose?
On 25th June 2011, Chewy Charles went down on one knee and proposed to me at Once Upon A Milkshake (Maxwell outlet). Even till now, I’m extremely overwhelmed by this whole episode. The tremendous effort that he put into preparing this surprise really touched my heart. There are just some things that money cannot buy. I’m simply amazed by how willing and determined Chewy Charles was in the making of the video and of course it would not have been possible without the help of his university buddies from his fydp group. :)
So how did I end up at OUAM if it was meant to be a surprise? Chewy Charles roped in our fellow food blogger friends and so, a couple of days before, Maureen texted me that the rest would be going for a tasting and asked if I wanted to go. She even asked me to ask Chewy Charles to join in. I remembered him telling me that he had to collect his transcript at NTU two weeks ago. Boys and girls, open your eyes and look. This is how a fake tasting session would look like. Hahaha!
After ordering our milkshakes, Maureen took a Macbook from the OUAM staff and told us to watch the ‘media kit’ which came in the form of a video clip. Now i’m wondering how could I not have sensed anything amiss when most of them were standing behind me.
Watching the video intently.. That’s Derrick filming me! Sneaky! Haha.
I have to say that I was very surprised and also mildly amused when I saw Chewy Charles in the video :)
And then god knows what happened. I CRIED! It was embarrassing I tell you. Those weren’t tears of joy. I was actually crying uncontrollably. Tears kept streaming down my face. If I were alone, I swear I could have wailed out loud. That was how touched I was. Anyway, nobody offered me tissue! So sad leh. :( Lol!
Haha ok after relating so much about how I felt.. Here’s the proposal video! :))
Well, I don’t know what’s with this expression. I think this was how I looked like when my heart ached for the silly boy upon thinking how much he must have gone through in the process of making this video. I once cried when he accidentally cut his thumb. I’m crazy right.
Still tearing.. Kai was keeping a lookout for Chewy Charles and his surprise party of 9. When the video was coming to an end, he gave a thumbs up sign and they marched over.
The first thing that Chewy Charles asked me was, “Aiyo! Why you cry until like that?!”
Each one of our 9 friends who formed the surprise party came in holding a heart on stick, forming the words, “PLS MARRY ME”. Chewy Charles contributed to the last letter.
Chewy Charles recited a great deal and I really cannot remember his exact words. I don’t even think I managed to digest what he had said! I was asking myself if this was all just a dream.
After Chewy Charles popped the question, I whispered, “Uhhhh what should I say?” Hahaha fail. It was his idea to pick out ‘Y’, ‘E’ and ‘S’.
This is one of the extremely rare photos of Chewy Charles smilingly so happily! Haha horrible la, there were still tears in my eyes! But anyway, both of us look really happy huh? :D
Him: “I bought your ring already but don’t know whether the size is correct or not..”
Me: “Huhhhhhh..” while eyeing the diamond ring at the same time.
Happily engaged and looking forward to our solemnization :P
We sincerely want to thank our food blogger and twitter friends (Maureen, Kai, Rey, Derrick, Yan Cai, Jia Yi, Rae, Joyce, Lisa and Ellena). The ‘tasting session’ would not have been possible without them ;) And thanks for all the amazing photos!
Chewy Charles decided to contact this particular group of my jc girl friends (Alicia, Esther, Nicolez and Joyce) because he figured that if there were any form of leakage, it would seem not as suspicious because he had not met them in person and were not friends with them on facebook. Thanks to these wonderful girl friends who acted as part of the surprise team and took time off to witness this proposal.
And of course, not forgetting this very important and supportive group of NTU friends (Kai Yang – not in picture, Sin Yee, Kelvin, Hong Ming, Cheng Wei and Joel) who without any complaints (I hope! Haha), helped Chewy Charles in directing, filming and editing the video. They braved the sun and the rain and their efforts are appreciated.
To have and to hold :)
We would also like to thank all our family members and friends for their well wishes and support :) Lastly, we are finally blogging on our own domain! We had been toying with this idea for quite some time already and we think that this is a good time to do so. Fellow bloggers who have previously added Foodoshoot to your blog roll, please spend two minutes of your time to change it to missuschewy ok? ;) We will be going by this name from now on! Hope everyone enjoyed this special post! The full set of photos can be found here. :)
