Hello dear readers, this is my first time posting a pictorial on my blog. I have always wanted to do something like this when I don’t have the time to do a review but often times, I cannot help but feel that my photos are clearly not up to standard and hence, just posting photos won’t do.
Recently, I have developed an even stronger interest in photography and dabbled a bit with my cousin’s Canon 400d and my good friend’s Nikon D70s. I could even sense the excitement from fellow food bloggers when I mentioned on twitter that I am thinking of getting a dslr for myself soon.
All the photos in Tetsu Japanese Restaurant are taken with a Nikon D70s and Nikon AF-S DX 18-135 mm lens. Douzo yoroshiku onegaishimasu.

Is this your DSLR or your friend’s one? I remember you were going to buy one but not sure if you did buy it already.
I think the photos are pretty good, just some are a tad blur, probably cos of hand shaking? The photo I liked the most was Tori no Karaage Umeshisotumi π
But the cutest one was the temari ball sushi!
Heyy JW, I used my friend’s dslr. Not sure when i’m gonna get one! Soon, hopefully π
A only posted a few photos if some are a bit blur means almost all are blur! Which ones?! I know the Tebaski (BBQ Chicken) one got hand shake. Hehe..
Ohh my mum liked the Tori no Karaage Umeshisotumi the most too! π
I think the tebasaki is kinda blur
Yup that’s the one! So sad π
nice pics! i think the best shot was that of the Ebi no Yubaage.
the presentation of the food here is lovely! i think the temari ball sushi are adorable too (:
Thanks JL π I personally like that photo as well. Yeah I agree with the wonderful presentation!
I am into photography too but I normally will not carry my DSLR around into restaurants to take photos π I prefer taking photos of landscape using DSLR when I go travelling.
I will still take photos of food with my compact camera. Anyway, I had linked you to my blog if you don’t mind.
Ya, the temari ball sushi look very special and cute!
Hi Miso! *slurps* Haha just kidding π Wow I guess you have those wide angle lens then? Yes I suppose using a compact camera is not so intimidating!
Thanks I don’t mind! I’m linking you to mine too! π
I liked Sashimi Moriawase coz I think the blurring of the background is pretty nice and brings out the sashimi well. the angle is oso great. what’s ur own thoughts?
JY, I think the sashimi would look better if it has some sort of shimmery shine in my photo! Haha duno how to achieve that effect though π I’m gonna try harder next time π
Your photos are looking great! May you get your dslr soon π
Heyy Bella V, your photos are more awesome! Blog more often so that I can drool over them yeah? π Yeah hopefully! Hehehe..
I wish I could! Been pretty busy recently. I’ll try to update as much as I can! π I will be able to update more after this busy period ya π
Your photos are fab, I like the salmon and sushi one. Anyway, photos in your previous posts are just as nice.
Heyy PY, mine are not really fab! I just keep experimenting with different angles and all. I find that the dslr can really do much more! π
Sashimi Moriawase and Ebi no Yubaage
Ally, do you eat sashimi? Next time let’s go and eat! We can take photos! π
I like the Ebi no Yubaage shot, think it looks really great coz I loved the focus on the foreground plus the fact that the backgrd is empty..
I also like Temari Sushi coz its so cute! Haha, but that I think is more presentation of food rather than angle of photography..
Loved all your pictures, they really do capture the essentials.. And get a DSLR soon!
Seems like most of us like the photo of the Ebi no Yubaage! Haha i realized that the cushion seat was black and shot from an angle so that i can make use of this.
Yup not only is the Temari Sushi cute, it’s so much easier to eat! Just pop them into your mouth. Yeah the presentation is very good and definitely helps!
Haha i will get as soon i find people to sponsor me π
Most of your shots are great, very well composed, not bad for if it was your 1st time using dslr.
Awww Gavin, thanks for your kind words π
Hey nice pics! Hmm..your bday is coming up, right? Let me guess what new thing you would have on your bday π
Hehe I hope so, Loraine! π
I love the deep fried chicken shot.. the depth of field there is very pretty and so is the colours
Nicolez, thanks to your dslr! I owe you a deep fried chicken then! π
I actually liked the 1st matcha mousse shot, something to do with the crane in the background.. haha!
Hey Daniel, yeah I was figuring out the best way to compose my shot because of the crane π
i like your tempura and chicken karage pics! I do love the f-stop effects. And I also want a DSLR so I know exactly how you feel. But I guess if you want to save on the bulkiness and cost, can try out MIL cameras? I remember reading of it as a cheaper alternative to DSLRs.
Hi drpiggy! Thanks, I personally like the tempura shot too π Ohh yes I was actually kinda tempted to get the Olympus Pen. But ultimately I think it’s still better to get a dslr. The slightly higher cost will definitely bring about greater benefits! Investment investment π
Hi Charlene!
Your Tori no Karaage Umeshisotumi looks fantastically nice. Very good composure of the entire bakset of food within the frame. Good try for your first time with a DSLR. Keep blogging!
