Keisuke Tokyo: Heh? Prawn stock ramen!

I turned 24 recently and the dear boy offered to take responsibility for planning the entire day’s itinerary for me πŸ˜› The both of us love Japanese food and knowing that I love noodles, he did some homework and decided to take me to dinner at Keisuke Tokyo which is located at Parco Marina Bay πŸ™‚

Prior this visit, I have not heard of Keisuke Tokyo and Chewy Charles told me that there was something unique about the ramen broth over here. We were both excited even before stepping foot into the restaurant!

Chewy Charles roamed about in Toyko for more than 2 months so he’s slightly more knowledgeable about the Japanese food scene now. And I’m secretly happy about it. Hiak! Hiak! Hiak! *evil laughter*

Took a quick glance at the menu and settled for the Ebi Ramen Special ($19). The Special comes with that extra plate of goodies – chunks of Chasyu chicken, Ajitsuke Tamago (soy sauce boiled egg) and Yamakurage (preserved lettuce stems).

If you are looking for something that is a little different from your usual bowl of ramen, this is it. Instead of the usual chicken or tonkotsu ramen, we had prawn stock ramen! Rest assured, it certainly didn’t taste like our local prawn noodle soup! It was flavorful, yet not too overwhelming at the same time. The soup was really addictive! The noodles are firm but I would have preferred them to be slightly thicker.

The both of us loved the soy sauce boiled eggs. The eggs were fully cooked but the yolks were not dry and mushy. It had a very pleasant soft texture. Chicken pieces were very tender and the preserved lettuce stems were crunchy.

Yup if your taste buds are itching for something different, go for the prawn based ramen at Keisuke Toyko! It is really worth a shot. Thanks for the birthday dinner! πŸ˜€

  1. yay! finally this post is up! In my own opinion, I felt that the prawn based broth is special and you should all try it when you are all sick of tonkotsu, shoyu, shio, miso ramen! Good place to go to with good ambience too! Thanks for including my picture in this post and happy belated birthday to you =D

  3. hey cool, i tried there too – crab stock ramen. but it was odd coz it was crab stock without any crabmeat, so they should fill in the gap. jiak buay song u know? anyway i would recommend u the ramen shop just directly opposite. No english name one… their charsiu ramen is the BEST. Let me know if u try it!

    • Heyy hobbit (i’m more used to calling u by ur real name though :P), ohh there’s crab stock ramen? hahaha i didnt open my eyes big enough! went straight for the prawn broth one.
