Last Christmas, I gave you my heart.. Ok let me stop right here π Last Christmas, which was not too long ago, Chewy Charles and I spent our first Christmas together! It was definitely a happy occasion π
As most of the places that we had intended to go to were not open on Christmas, we finally settled for Cafe Hacienda at Dempsey as our last minute resort. I like the simple interior and everything else about the place.
If you are really hungry or would simply like to have a bit of everything on your plate, you are strongly recommended to go for Cafe Hacienda’s Ultimate Breakfast ($17). How would you go about eating this? We started off with the two triangular halves of a toasted bread with some butter. For the two eggs, you have a choice of sunny side up, poached or scrambled. We liked how the sunny side up was done; yolk was liquid while the egg white was still a bit runny and smooth as well. Sausage was stuffed with herbs but to be honest, it tasted a little weird. We thought that the bacon was not too salty and mushrooms were quite juicy. Apart from that, there were roasted tomato, baked beans and a heap of wild rocket leaves.
I kinda like MacDonalds’ Sausage McMuffin and here is Cafe Hacienda’s version of something a little similar, Eggs Benedict ($13.50). With two poached eggs and black forest ham on top of fluffy english muffins that were crisp and crusty around the sides, it tasted so wonderful with creamy hollandaise sauce.
After all that savory stuff, we wanted something sweet! Tiramisu In A Cup ($7) was our best bet. We were amazed at the amount of cocoa powder loaded on top! It reminded me of eating milo powder straight out of the tin during my childhood days π We also liked this pudding tiramisu more than the cake version, commonly served on a plate.
Alrighty, that’s Cafe Hacienda for you and me! Now would you tell me where’s your favorite place to go to for breakfast or brunch in Singapore? π

My fave place would be my own kitchen ! well that’s cause i rarely eat out for breakfast. but one place I’ve heard alot about is hatched. another all day breakfast place. I am just waiting for a chance to go down someday
Haha that’s when all day breakfast comes in! Yeah I wanted to go to Hatched initially but the mixed reviews kinda made me think twice. Maybe next time! See how first.. π I’ll be waiting for your review then!
Haha I think it’s still Wild Honey for me! π
Pancakes or eggs? Heard that the pancakes are so-so!
So Sweet! I like sausage mcmuffin too though most of the time they are tad dry but i still eat it haha. I like Wild Honey and what i wanted to try when i go back are Hatched and Spruce. Thanks to Bella V for all those breakfast ideas. Now you added another one on the list. I’m only in SG for 4 days, I hope I’ll have the time and the space to eat everything i want π
Hehe Macs is very convenient π Yeah Spruce! Hey let us know if you and your hubby wanna meet up! π
food for thought! they’ve got the best pancakes in singapore so far, and the ambience is lovely too.
I just went to food for thought recently! but we ate some other mains, didnt try their pancakes. I like the ambience there too!
swensens american breakfast is yummy! only weekends and public holidays though!
Really?! Haha weekends and public holidays good enough liao! Weekdays no time to enjoy breakfast outside π Haha!
I quite liked the Eggs benedict from eM by the River. But then again, I’m no expert! Bella V is the expert (I agree with you, Hungrytrotters)
@Jacob: I’ve been to Hatched, twice. One good, one bad. So it really depends. Have heard VERY mixed reviews though!
Yeah Bella V is not called Vanilla and Breakfast for nothing I guess π
I also prefer tiramisu in a cup… it’s so much more tastier and moist
Yup! Can Bernice eat tiramisu too? I think she will like it. Hehe π
