Now that September is drawing to an end, we all need to give ourselves a little pat on the back for working so hard. It’s time to feast like kings and queens during Oktoberfest and recharge for the last quarter of 2011! In fact, just a few days ago at Vivocity, the husband and I were in need of an Ultimate Food Therapy and we both agreed on dinner at Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant. We celebrated yet another monthsary that day since it was a 26th. So many things to celebrate.. Monthsary, anniversary, wedding anniversary, etc. LOL. Actually Hubs was being pulled into Brotzeit simply by the “Happy Hour 5pm – Closing” sign at the entrance. Yup anyway, Brotzeit Oktoberfest is happening from 6 to 9 October this year! So raise your glass if you’re wrong in all the right ways! 😛

Original Münchner (0.5 litre)
Before deciding on anything else, misterchewy already has his eyes on the Original Münchner lager which came in a cute Oktoberfest beer mug! Splendidly subtle and light, great after a long hard day at work. I likeeeeee! Couldn’t help but wonder if the mugs are for sale 😛

No no.. I pose with the beer only.. LOLOL.
- Wurstelplatte/Sausage Platter (for 2 pax) ($32.50)
Brotzeit’s menu is very extensive but we didn’t really wanna eat salads, pizzas and other stuff when we are right here at a German restaurant. There’s nothing more authentic than an authentic sausage platter with a variety of German sausages! Forget the hot dogs and chicken franks when you can gorge yourself silly with spicy chicken sausages, Nurnberger sausages, pork cheese sausages, Weisswurst and garlic pork sausages! Big, fat, juicy, satisfying! I love my sausages with mustard. The saltiness does build up slowly towards the end, so have a glass of water ready.
- Schweinshaxn/Pork Knuckle ($36)
Typical Singaporean mentality when you see the words “While stocks last!” So yeah, the German pork knuckle is an absolute must order item! Brotzeit uses the hind shank of grain fed pork which tastes very meaty, plus it’s lean and tender. Although it’s not as crispy as the one we had at Paulaner Brauhaus, the skin was thin and definitely a delight to chew on. I love the mashed potato which came together with the pork knuckle. It’s very creamy and has a slight sourish taste. The portion of the pork knuckle is ideal for sharing among a group of 4 to 5 people. We had to pack home our leftovers. Hey, we should not let good food go to waste right? 😛
