You can’t say that you are a roasted pork belly lover until you have tried Mang Kiko’s Lechon. It is not local, but introduced about 3 years ago by Ernesto ‘Jun’ Flores who wants to bring a taste of home to his fellow Filipino counterparts in Singapore. Now we know why Orchard Road is swarmed with Pinoys. 🙂
I’m ashamed to say that I didn’t know about Mang Kiko’s existence two years ago until my friend from the Philippines asked me if I have tried Filipino cuisine here. The answer is no because I don’t know of any places at that time. We came here and the rest was history. Ok, not quite. Just last week, misterchewy popped by for dinner again! It was our second time 🙂
Mang Kiko’s gained popularity and now has four branches in Singapore! This is two generous servings of Roasted Pork Belly ($12). The meat is roasted till tender and the fatty parts are simply marvelous. The skin, however, is not exactly crispy but a little hard.
The sweet barbecue sauce is highly recommended.
Even their Steamed Rice ($1) is so fragrant! Instead of fluffy grains, you get moist and soft white rice which smells like Ketupat.
Now who says you can’t find cheap and good food in Orchard? 🙂
