Kenjo Hair Salon: Mucota Scena+ Hair Treatment & Discount Code

PC049903

Maintaining a healthy head of hair takes more than just regular shampooing and conditioning. Do you know that our hair becomes coarse, dry and brittle not only through daily wear and tear, but is further worsened by heat treatment, UV radiation and chemical treatment? It is important that we allow our hair to undergo treatment regularly in order to strengthen our hair, put back its moisture, as well as restore its natural balance.

Untitled

I had the luxury of returning to Kenjo Hair Salon for the award-winning 3-step Mucota Scena+ hair treatment earlier this month before our Christmas photoshoot. As usual, I was promptly showed to my seat and then asked if I would like a drink. Biscuits were served along with orange juice! The hair assistant proceeded to give me a pampering hair wash and head massage which felt very invigorating.

Untitled

Before beginning the treatment proper, a special machine was used to spray distilled water all over my hair. The machine is powered by nano technology which allows tiny water molecules to penetrate the hair follicles more effectively for better absorption of the Mucota Scena+ later on.

Untitled

Using advances in material-sciences and biotechnology, Scena+ restores and protects hair by focusing on replacing important natural elements that make up the intercellular components in hair. Scena+ is a new exquisite treatment from Mucota that restores hair internally using ingredients found in hair itself.

Untitled

First step: Adel – Moisture Base Treatment

Adel contains a mixture of 4 kinds of ceramides, cholesterol and phytosphingosine that can be found in natural ceramide. It is applied to freshly shampooed hair and then rinsed off. This step creates ideal conditions for treatment by deep hydration and restoration of natural hair elements, making hair soft and hydrated.

Second step: Brava – Intensive Hair Repair

Brava contains 5 different hair repair elements to target different kinds of damage to hair. A net-like structure in hair is created that prevents essential elements from flowing out and improves texture at the same time.

Third step: Calore – Lustre Protect and Seal

Finally, Calore protects hair cuticle by restoring its hydrophobic surface. It prolongs treatment effects in hair via super lipidure; coating the outer cuticle with a 7-layered lamellar liquid crystal nano-structure and creating a pseudo-cuticle, keeping hair shiny, smooth and silky.

Untitled

Heat is applied to ensure that the goodness of the treatment products get absorbed into my hair! I went for a final hair wash after about 15 minutes.

PC049907

I felt like a different person as I stepped out of Kenjo salon. My hair was no longer dry and lifeless. Instead, it was so smooth, silky and bouncy that I could not resist touching my hair every now and then!

Untitled

Kenjo Hair Salon has been running its Christmas promotion consisting of specially selected Mucota AIRE products which you can use in the comfort of your own home! Both packages even come with a free mini styling iron! Definitely something you would want to bring along for your overseas trips! Sharp Ultrasonic Washer Eliminates Various Stains!

Advertorial

A32A9832

“What’s that?”, you ask. It’s a really cool gadget that all mummies need to get their hands on! This is especially true if you find yourself having to deal with tons of stains day in and day out. Food stains, coffee stains, makeup stains, poop stains, and the list doesn’t end here! There were at least a couple of occasions where I actually had to toss out stained clothings because they were beyond hope. Such a waste right? I know! However, with my latest toy, the SHARP Ultrasonic Washer has proven itself to be effective against various stains!

A32A9851

SHARP Ultrasonic Washer introduces a revolutionary new way to treat spots stains on clothing without damaging fabrics. It looks really sleek and it is also portable.

A32A9856

By producing ultrasonic vibration up to 38,000 strokes per second via the tip of the washer, various types of stains can be eliminated in just THREE simple steps – Soak, Trace and Rinse! No more incessant rubbing is needed! I first tried the washer on the girls’ clothes, and was pleasantly surprised to see how the SHARP Ultrasonic Washer works like magic! Yellowish stains were gone in a jiffy and the previously stained clothes now look as good as new!

A32A9945

Just to show you how the SHARP Ultrasonic Washer works, I smeared some makeup foundation on a piece of towel.

A32A9947

Step One: Soak

Stained fabrics MUST be first soaked in a fair amount of water for the washer to work.

A32A9957

Step Two: Trace

When turned on, the tip of the washer will start to generate ultrasonic vibration, which in turn causes cavitation bubbles inside the water. During the tracing step, the bubble implosion has high energy to remove stains.

A32A9962

Step Three: Rinse

After most of the stain has been removed, the last step is to rinse the fabric!

A32A9963

The stain has been removed! Perfect for pre-treating stains before machine washing! You may also check out my video on IG and FB on the stain removal using SHARP Ultrasonic Washer!

A32A9857

I love how portable the SHARP Ultrasonic Washer is! It operates on USB rechargeable battery and doesn’t require the use of cables attached to a fixed electrical supply, making it extremely convenient! SHARP Ultrasonic Washer is currently available at any SHARP authorized dealer shops. For enquiries, please contact SHARP Singapore.

Baby Cayla’s Lunar 4th Month Traditional Celebration

A32A9897

Hola chewy friends! It has been more than a week since we celebrated Mini misschewy’s lunar 4th month! Since it was on a Monday, misterchewy and I took leave just for this. The hubs sent Little misschewy to school in the morning and bought chicken drumstick on his way home. Over the weekend, my mum passed us the Marie biscuits and chives, and also angbao for Cayla! This time, we didn’t trim Cayla’s hair and if you are keen, you can read about Chanelle’s lunar 4th month celebration back in 2014!

A32A9909

1) Chives (Gu Chye)

Chives play a essential role in baby’s lunar 4th month celebration as older folks believe that rubbing chives along baby’s gums signifies a smooth sailing and painless teething journey. We didn’t boil the chives but simply soak the stalk in water for at least 30 minutes before rinsing it under running water. Not all supermarkets sell chives so do your homework early and buy the chives as near the celebration as possible to ensure its freshness!

A32A9920

2) Chicken Drumstick

I took a video of the hubs showing Cayla the drumstick and caught her swallowing her saliva as she eyed the piece of meat! Hahaha.

A32A9916

Oh yeah~ Looks like someone enjoyed licking the drumstick! This signifies that baby will be blessed with an abundance of good food! Two more months to your first taste of solids, Cayla! Hehehe.

IMG_1546

3) String of 12 biscuits

During Chanelle’s time, we used 8 big Marie biscuits and for Cayla, we had 12 small ones. My mum said, “One of each month of the year!” The hubs asked me, “Why Marie biscuits?” Honestly, I don’t know but gave him a lame reply that there are many holes to string the biscuits together lol. Once again, Cayla was caught trying to stuff all the biscuits into her mouth! LOL.

A32A9935

The hubs touched Cayla’s lips with each biscuit, while reciting “qit ta ta” (wipe dry). This is believed to minimise drooling in babies! Daddies and Mummies, don’t forget to eat all the biscuits to complete this ritual! The hubs and I split the share equally. Haha.

A32A9938

4) Red Packet (Ang Bao)

Cayla also received angbao from both grandmothers as a blessing! Hope you enjoyed this post! Stay connected with us on Instagram @missuschewy and on Facebook www.facebook.com/missuschewy 🙂

Crawfurd Medical Centre: High Intensity Fat Ablation, Ultra Cavitation and Radiofrequency Body Slimming Review

Advertorial

A32A9779-horz

Hey chewy friends! Have you read my previous post about my Fractional CO2 Resurfacing Laser treatment experience with Crawfurd Medical Centre? Crawfurd Medical is a one stop facility that provides GP, Health Screening and Aesthetic Services in Suntec City. It is very convenient for people like me because I didn’t have to go to different places to seek treatment to address the issues that I have. Besides the skin laser treatment which I did for my face, I also underwent body contouring sessions at Crawfurd! I like the fact that I only had to consult Dr. Peter Chen for these two areas of concern and also, I could schedule both the face and body treatments in the same day. The treatment sessions took place back to back, in the same treatment room, which was certainly hassle-free for me! Although I had lost most of the weight which I gained during my second pregnancy, there are still trouble areas with excess fat that I want to get rid of. My most problematic areas are actually my thunder thighs which have plagued me since my childhood days! When I was still in junior college, I embarked on a very strict diet and exercise regimen, and lost quite a fair bit of weight. However, to my dismay, my thunder thighs were still present and it was difficult to fit into a decent pair of jeans! Well, the good news is, there IS a way to remove these stubborn fats!

A32A9276

Dr. Chen proposed three types of slimming treatments that would benefit me. On top of that, he reviewed my diet and introduced me the Ketogenic diet, which is essentially a low-carb, high-fat diet that will contribute to weight loss. About a month ago, I had my first session of High Intensity Ultrasound Fat Ablation treatment, which is non-invasive and very effective in destroying fat cells, and for my case, spot reduction. The procedure involves high intensity ultrasound burning fat cells underneath the skin in a matrix and pulling underlying skin tighter. The best part? High Intensity Ultrasound Fat Ablation destroys existing fat cells PERMANENTLY, where they go into the lymphatic system and are subsequently eliminated outside the body! Stubborn fats, be gone!

Marking

As with all slimming treatments, measurements of my thighs were taken after I had changed into a robe. Elaine and Kate proceeded to mark out areas on my thighs for the high intensity ultrasound procedure later on. This acts as a guide to ensure that all areas of my thighs are covered during the treatment process.

A32A9289

Ultrasound gel was applied all over my thighs before beginning the treatment as it enables the ultrasound waves to be transmitted from the probe to the tissues beneath the skin.

A32A9295

Heat from the high intensity ultrasound eliminates unwanted fat cells and as much as 2cm of fat can be reduced in just one session! This procedure is extremely effective and optimal results are achievable in few sessions. I didn’t feel any pain during the treatment but just a slight itchy and tingling sensation at times. Immediately after the treatment, my legs felt very sore. It was as though I had just stepped out from the gym. The soreness lasted only for a few hours and I would say that there is no downtime at all. The High Intensity Fat Ablation treatment can only be done once in two months and optimal results can be seen in about 8 weeks.

A32A9801

I also got to experience Ultrasound Cavitation and Radio Frequency Slimming treatments. Both are delivered by the same machine, so I got to experience these treatments in the same session. Ultrasound Cavitation uses low frequency ultrasound to cause mechanical disruption of the fat cell membranes, causing them to burst. The treated fat tissue is then removed through the lymphatics. Ultrasound Cavitation is best used as a general treatment of fatty areas, and is recommended for body shaping and contouring, skin tightening and toning, as well as reduction of cellulite. The only downside of this treatment is that there is a ringing sound which can be quite irritating initially, but after a while, I got used to the sound. The level of the suction or intensity can be adjusted accordingly to one’s threshold for pain, so this is definitely bearable! The other slimming treatment uses vacuum assisted radiofrequency and infrared to reduce the size of fat cells. It helps to reduce water retention in the interstitial tissues and tightens the overlying skin to prevent a saggy appearance post fat reduction! Both the Ultrasound Cavitation and Radio Frequency Slimming treatments last about 20 minutes each and can be carried out once every two weeks.

PB309889

My thunder thighs used to be so much bigger than this! Just after one session of High Intensity Fat Ablation, and two sessions of Ultrasound Cavitation and Radiofrequency Slimming, I can now fit into my shorts better and they don’t feel that tight anymore! These treatments can also be done on the tummy, arms and face! Definitely worth considering in the near future!

PC049924

I used to avoid wearing horizontal stripes for fear of making my legs look wider than they already are. After these body contouring treatments at Crawfurd Medical Centre, the visible results certainly boosted my confidence and I no longer feel so self-conscious when I’m in shorts or stripes! I will definitely recommend the High Intensity Ultrasound Fat Ablation, Ultrasound Cavitation and Radiofrequency Slimming treatments to anyone who wants to embrace a slimmer physique, or to get rid of unwanted stubborn fats!

Here’s a piece of good news for my readers, simply quote “CMCxCharlene” to enjoy the following offers at Crawfurd Medical:

Crawfurd Medical Centre: Fractional C02 Resurfacing Laser Treatment Review

Advertorial

P3241722

As much as I want to be comfortable in my own skin, I find it nearly impossible to step out of the house without applying at least some foundation on my face. I wasn’t blessed with the most fantastic genes and was plagued by acne during my teenage years. Yup, you might have guessed it. My old acne scars just wouldn’t go away despite me having tried various creams that claim to eliminate or smooth out these awful blemishes. I was left feeling dejected each time I did not see any visible results after weeks of diligently applying these creams. Recently, I came across Fractional CO2 Resurfacing Laser, a form of laser skin renewal, and it certainly piqued my interest as I found out that it’s an effective yet non-invasive procedure that can help to address my concerns.

A32A9259

Crawfurd Medical Centre is one of the clinics in Singapore that offers Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing treatment and what’s really awesome is that Crawfurd Medical is a one stop facility that provides GP, Health Screening and Aesthetic services! How convenient is that? The clinic is located at Suntec City which is highly accessible by public transport. A few weeks back, I went for a consultation with Dr. Peter Chen to learn more about Fractional CO2 Resurfacing Laser and of course, to determine if this treatment is suitable for me!

IMG_0531

I was greeted by a very amiable Dr. Chen, who explained Fractional CO2 Resurfacing Laser to me in layman terms, which definitely made it easy for me to understand. In a nutshell, Fractional CO2 Resurfacing Laser works by using light energy to penetrate the dermal layer of the skin and remove areas of damage, while at the same time, stimulate collagen growth. It is a treatment used to combat acne scars, uneven skin tone, wrinkles and large pores. Apart from my old acne scars, I also raised another concern of mine, which is some pigmentation which has begun to form on my upper cheeks, probably the result of long sun exposure as I used to play a lot of tennis. Dr. Chen advised that he would rather under treat than to over treat this problem as there is a possibility of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation which could worsen the problem. It was certainly a very insightful consultation session for me where I learned about what Fractional CO2 Resurfacing Laser could do for me! Noticeable results could be seen after the first session but it takes at least a couple of sessions to achieve optimal results, depending on individual skin condition.

A32A9300

I was ushered into a treatment room and was asked to change into a robe. Elaine, the Head of Aesthetic from Alcove at Crawfurd, started the session by first cleansing my face.

A32A9303

A good amount of topical numbing cream was applied thereafter.

A32A9306

Elaine explained that the cellophane cling wrap will aid in better and faster absorption of numbing cream, which took all of 20 minutes to take effect.

Before

As you can see, these are the old acne scars and pock marks that had prevented me from heading out without any makeup!

A32A9309

Before beginning the procedure, Dr. Chen first tested the moisture level of my face to determine the suitable level of laser intensity to be administered. Fractional CO2 Resurfacing Laser works in such a way that laser energy is delivered in tiny dots in a grid formation. I have a pretty low tolerance for pain but found the entire process to be quite tolerable. For the first round, it actually felt like having a rubber band hitting lightly on my face. I wasn’t used to the sensation initially and kept jolting, and Dr. Chen made sure that I was alright before proceeding with the laser treatment for the next targeted area of my face.

A32A9313

For the second round, there was a very slight burning sensation, but it was still tolerable. The only thing that bothered me was the smell of my burnt skin that filled the room. Apart from that, it was all cool!

A32A9314

Visible grid marks could be seen after the treatment but not to worry, they will go away in a few days!

A32A9318

The immediate after-effects of the Fractional CO2 Resurfacing Laser treatment was a lobster red face and the feeling of getting a sun burn on the face.

A32A9322

Elaine slathered on some Intensive Hydrating Marine Algae mask on my face, which felt very cooling and soothing to my red-hot skin. I drifted off to lala land for about 20 minutes and Elaine proceeded to peel off the mask for me. My face didn’t feel that hot and was really refreshed! I highly recommend it!

front

As you can see in the photos that I have taken on a daily basis following the treatment procedure, my face was the reddest on Day 2. Scratching, scrubbing and sun exposure is not advisable as the skin is very sensitive during this recover period. When I needed to head out, I made sure I applied sunblock of at least SPF30 as advised by Elaine. My face felt itchy and by Day 3, my skin started to scab. I would say that there is very little downtime and I could apply light foundation whenever I wanted to head out of the house. During the recovery phase, it’s best to keep the face cool!

A32A9664

I was also given some products by Nelly De Vuyst that helped my skin heal faster. Nelly De Vuyst is a premium skin care brand from the United States and its products are exclusively offered through spas and medical spas. It has a longstanding reputation as one of the most effective, anti-aging and corrective skincare line in the market.

A32A9743

As my skin is slightly on the dry side, Nelly De Vuyst Cleansing Milk Hydrocell works really well for me as it contains ingredients that thoroughly and gently cleanse the skin while respecting the quality of the hydrolipidic film. The cleanser has a light and creamy texture, which helps to remove impurities from the face while leaving the skin feeling refreshed and moisturized. It is very gentle and perfect for dehydrated, sensitive and irritated skin conditions.

A32A9750

My skin was red and felt raw after the Fractional CO2 Resurfacing Laser treatment, and Elaine told me to rub a few drops of Nelly De Vuyst Sensitive Skin Serum onto my palms before pressing the serum on my face. It is specially formulated for sensitive skin and visibly reduces any signs of redness. It also soothes inflammatory reactions, itching and irritation. Lastly, Elaine told me to apply the Nelly De Vuyst Sensitive Skin Cream whenever my face felt hot or itchy, as this cream helps comfort, hydration and softness to sensitive skin.

A32A9745

Currently, there is a promotion code for my readers! Quote “CHARLENECMC15” for 15% off all Nelly De Vuyst and Douglas Laboratories products at Crawfurd Medical! And quote “CHARLENECMC” to try the Laser Skin Renewal @ $300 NETT!

Hokkaido: A Year-Round Paradise

Hokkaido

More than 19.7 million foreigners visited Japan in 2015, but ask any of these tourists and you’ll probably find more people who have visited popular destinations like Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto compared to places like Hokkaido. Indeed, many travelers have still not experienced the majestic beauty of Japan’s second-largest island and biggest prefecture. Suffice it to say that they’re missing out on a lot of things!

Separated from the island of Honshu by the Tsugaru straight, Hokkaido is the northernmost of Japan’s prefectures. It is home to numerous national parks, luxury resorts, beautiful port towns, and a bustling capital city that hosts one of the world’s most mesmerizing winter festivals. In this article, you’ll find out just why Hokkaido is a perfect vacation paradise no matter what season of the year it is.

Hokkaido winter

Winter Wonderland

Hokkaido is probably best known for being a winter destination because of its world-famous powder snow, which is created by the arctic winds blown in from Siberia during the winter season. This dry, weightless snow falls on the island in huge amounts, blanketing its mountains in several meters of snow cover. As a result, many luxurious resorts have been built in the foothills and valleys between these mountains.

KH Onsen Bath

If you visit Hokkaido in winter, consider staying at the Kiroro Resort, which is strategically located just 1.5 hours’ drive away from the prefectural capital, Sapporo. Here, skiers and snowboarders can enjoy 21 meters of powder snow, abundant tracks, a modern high-speed lift system, training facilities, and a mountain club program. Families and those who just want to relax won’t feel out of place either, as Kiroro has restaurants, spa facilities, a pool, a karaoke hall, retail shops, indoor children’s activity centers, and a fitness center to keep everyone occupied. Moreover, it is just 30 minutes away from the quaint fishing town of Otaru, where you can order a delicious bowl of kaisen donburi—rice with seafood. The town also hosts the Snow Light Path Festival every February.

If you’re visiting at around that time, you can also check out the Sapporo Snow Festival, in which hundreds of ice sculptures and snow statues are built in parks around Sapporo. Furthermore, make sure to try one of the multitude of onsen (hot spring) baths in the island, where you can settle into after an active day on the slopes.

Hokkaido cherry blossom

Cherry Blossoms in Springtide

After thawing away winter’s chill, the island’s flora awakens in early March to welcome springtime. The best time to visit Hokkaido, though, is between early May and the middle of May, when the island really comes to life with the colors of blooming flowers.

Make sure to visit the Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park near Yubetsu, where you can find rows upon rows of millions of colorful tulips. The landscape resembles a Dutch countryside, and the place even has a windmill to complete the look. In Takinoue Park, on the other hand, you’ll be able to see meadows and hills delightfully blanketed in pink moss phlox or shibazakura—truly a feast for the eyes. Finally, how could you visit Japan in spring and not see the cherry blossoms? The sakura is one of the most enduring symbols of Japanese culture, and in Hokkaido, the places to see them best are in the star-shaped Fort Goryokaku in Hakodate and in the parks around the graceful Matsumae Castle in Matsumae.

Hokkaido summer

Summertime Roaming

Summer is the probably the most popular season in Hokkaido among local Japanese tourists because it is when they try to escape the humidity in the south to take pleasure in the coolness of the island’s summertime weather.

In July, the geographical heart of the island attracts thousands of visitors who want to see the flower fields of Furano and Biei. In particular, the lavender fields here make for really scenic photographs.
Summer is also a great time to visit the island’s national parks. Enjoy the unspoiled beauty of the Shiretoko National Park as well as the Akan National Park, where 3 beautiful lakes can be found. South of Sapporo, you can visit Lake Toya and Noboribetsu, where Hokkaido’s most famous hot springs are located.

Needless to say, you also shouldn’t miss Hokkaido’s urban attractions during summer. The mild and cool weather makes it the perfect time to stroll down the streets of the island’s major cities, including Sapporo, Hakodate, and Asahikawa.

Hokkaido autumn

Fiery Autumn

The season of fall begins in Hokkaido in September. Although this month poses the highest risk for typhoons, October and November by contrast, are generally mild.

In Japan, autumn begins the north—particularly in the highlands of Hokkaido—earlier than it does in the southern island of Honshu. Deciduous trees all over island becomes awash in the red, orange, and yellow colors of fall, a spectacle to match the flower blooms of spring.

If you’re staying in the city of Sapporo, you can view the autumn leaves in places like Hokkaido University, the Nakajima Koen Park, the Ishiyama Open Space, and the Takino Suzuran Hillside National Government Park. Outside of the capital, there are many places where you can enjoy the autumn display. These include the Shiretoko National Park, the hell valley in Noboribetsu, the Lake Onuma Quasi National Park, the spa town of Jozankei, the Daisetsuzan National Park, and the Shiretoko National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site.

Hokkaido is a fantastic holiday destination no matter what the season is. If you’re planning to visit Japan, spend at least a week in this northern wonder to experience the best that the island has to offer.

Combat Hair Loss with Plantur 21 Plus Giveaway!

Advertorial

26365606774_7925c102ee_o

Have you wondered why hair is so important to women? Our hair is like an extension of ourselves which gives us our identities, and I would even like to go as far to say that our hair can also give away our age! I’m sure everyone has uttered the words ‘bad hair day’ at some point in their lives, and on a day like this, everything just seem to go downhill.

Yes! Our hair is that important to us! In the “Hair Does Matter” survey conducted in May 2015 initiated by Dr Wolff and carried out by Nielsen in Singapore, the results showed that as many as 90% of Singaporean women agreed that their self-confidence is affected by hair loss, and among those suffering from hair loss, 1 in 2 felt depressed because of it.

I didn’t take part in this survey but the results totally resonate with me. I know because I suffered from slight postpartum depression after giving birth, due to a myriad of reasons such as having to adapt to new additions in the family, and of course hair loss! Imagine having to scoop up a ton of hair after stepping out of the shower! Depressing much?! In fact, most women suffer from hair loss after giving birth due to stress and hormonal changes. From my point of view, it is also a vicious cycle! Stress causes hair loss, and hair loss causes stress! Even though this is a normal phase that most mothers go through, weak hair roots can also prolong or worsen the problem, which can ultimately prove to be a challenge. If you think that hair loss only affects older women, you are so wrong! Hair loss can affect younger women too! Premature hair loss can be triggered by mental or physical stress, and nutrient deficit due to poor diet.

Of course, I did a simple research online and a few articles suggest that scalp massage and other home remedies such as making a hair mask using eggs and olive oil are some of the methods that can be used to combat hair loss. However, are they really as effective as they claim to be or are these just old wives’ tales? I want something that has been proven to be effective because at the rate that my hair is falling, I’m going to turn bald in no time! *GASP*

It is often overlooked that hair loss problems must be directly tackled at the hair root. Interestingly, Dr Wolff Research found that CAFFEINE is effective in preventing hair loss! I’m not asking you to go grab a cup of coffee right now, watch this short video and you will know why!

Caffeine is a key ingredient that helps to combat poor hair growth and premature hair loss when it is directly applied to the hair roots! Dr Wolff have since developed their own Nutri-Caffeine complex which protects the hair roots from premature exhaustion and providing the hair roots with sufficient energy to grow.

The Plantur 21 series is highly suitable for young women with hair loss problems as the activating Nutri-Caffeine complex penetrates and stimulates the hair roots during hair wash, and helps to recharge the roots by supplying energy to promote hair growth.

A32A9755

Plantur 21 Nutri-Caffeine Shampoo is made using a unique galenic formula which allows the powerful Nutri-Caffeine complex to penetrate the hair follicles during hair washing, after just 120 seconds of residence time.

The Nutri-Caffeine Shampoo is suitable for all hair types, and is especially for color-treated and stressed hair. The shampoo also contains conditioning agents that repair the externally stressed hair!

A32A9757

If your hair is frequently subjected to harsh conditions such as bleaching, colourations and heat treatments, you definitely need to treat your hair with the Plantur 21 Nutri Conditioner after shampooing! It is a must for me to use conditioner as it gives a nice silky shine and brilliance to my otherwise dull hair, and brushing is also much easier. The Nutri Conditioner contains fruit acid and active avocado ingredients that strengthen the hair structure and smooth hair surface, apart from micronutrients and caffeine that help combat hair loss.

A32A9756

I have tried a few types of hair tonic previously but they are all either very greasy or requires thorough blow-drying of the hair before application, which in a way causes stress to the hair. In comparison, I really like Plantur 21 Nutri-Caffeine Elixir for its non-greasy texture and sweet fragrance. It does not make my scalp feel oily or make me look like I didn’t wash my hair for days.

The active ingredient complex in the Nutri-Caffeine Elixir travels along the hair shaft and forms a 24-hour ingredient depot in the scalp thereby providing protection from an energy deficit in the hair roots.

It is important to note that the elixir is a leave-on treatment which should not be rinsed out once it is massaged into the scalp once a day.

A32A9704

My scalp definitely feels healthier after two weeks of using Plantur 21 products on a daily basis! Of course, I’m not going to stop using them just because my hair loss problem has seen an improvement. It has to be used continuously so that energy can be supplied to the hair roots to prevent hair loss!

The retail prices of the following Plantur 21 products are as follows:

Plantur 21 Nutri-Caffeine Shampoo: $18.90
Plantur 21 Nutri-Caffeine-Elixir $19.90
Plantur 21 Nutri-Conditioner $12.90

Plantur 21 is available in Guardian, selected Watsons, Unity, NTUC FairPrice, Cold Storage, Giant, NHG and independent pharmacies.

Thanks to Plantur 21, we are giving away THREE sets of Plantur 21 Shampoo and Conditioner! Simply share my Plantur post via my Facebook page www.facebook.com/missuschewy and leave a comment to stand a chance to win. Contest ends on 7th December 2016 and is only open to participants Singapore. Good luck! 🙂

$88++ Christmas Omakase at Fort by Maison Ikkoku

A32A9548

Let me tell you a secret (ok it’s no longer one if you had seen my IG stories). I brought my baby to a bar. Well, not just any bar, but a gastrobar that specializes in bespoke cocktails. Not only that, this place is fast gaining popularity as foodies in Singapore have caught wind of the affordably priced 12-course omakase menu at just $68++ per person. That’s FORT by Maison Ikkoku for you! Located at the top of Fort Canning Hill within Pinacothèque De Paris, FORT is a cosy 30-seater space that takes in two seatings every night, at 6.30pm and 8.30pm. I would love to occupy a seat by the bar counter to watch all the magic unfold, if it wasn’t for the fact that I had to keep an eye on the little one in the stroller.

A32A9570

The suave and youthful-looking Executive Chef cum Senior Master Mixologist, Ethan Leslie Leong, is also the Executive Director of Maison Ikkoku and FORT. He is renowned for his mixology skills and major brands such as CHANEL, Mont Blanc, Guess, Giorgio Armani, Diesel, Polo Ralph Lauren, Viktor & Rolf, agnès b and Penhaligon’s have chosen to collaborate with him to design bespoke cocktails to showcase during prestigious events.

A32A9556-horz

I had the pleasure of watching Ethan’s sidekick in action that evening. Matteo Cadeddu is an award winning mixologist from Italy and holds the title of Head Mixologist at FORT, where bespoke cocktails start from $23++. Matteo will come up with something interesting based on your preferences and if the drink is not up to your expectation, you can request to have it changed at no extra cost, although I think it’s unlikely to happen.

A32A9564-horz

I asked for something sweet, while misterchewy was leaning towards a savory choice. I would say that my Raspberry with Sake is a pretty safe drink; sweet and fruity. What’s not to like? The hubs was clearly impressed by his Earl Grey with Basil and Miso. Definitely very unique!

A32A9617

If you are not a fan of alcoholic drinks, there’s always mocktails that are equally delicious!

A32A9575

Without further ado, let’s take a sneak peek at some of the dishes we had as part of the Christmas omakase menu, priced at $88++ per person where more premium ingredients will be featured. Do note that the menu changes on a weekly basis, and is also subjected to availability of fresh, quality ingredients. The first course was Braised “Radish” with Konbo which had a slight tinge of bitterness from the radish, coupled with the kelp’s umami taste. Good start to our 12-course meal!

A32A9584

Resting in a bed of delicious Asian dressing made up of soy sauce, ginger, coriander and a drizzle of lime, the Seared Tuna Carpaccio in Asian Touch was injected with a multitude of flavors that made it a joy to devour.

A32A9587

Feast your eyes on this baby sitting atop a cube of ice. For an oyster lover, the Live Irish oyster with Caviar Lime, Salmon Roe, Wasabi Cress, Sake was a real treat! The oyster was plump and meaty, plus the juices packed a wallop!

A32A9590

As harmless as the Signature Fort Roll might look, it actually turned out to be quite fiery with Chef Ethan’s very own chilli sauce blend! Stuffed with spicy maguro, onion sprouts and cucumber, the maki crunched wonderfully with every bite!

A32A9594

The Aburi Salmon Sushi with Ikura was nothing short of amazing. Pop the entire piece into your mouth for that foodgasm experience! I love that the aburi-ed salmon had a light smoky flavor which lent an extra dimension to the overall dish.

A32A9600

It was a brilliant idea to pair truffle with mac and cheese. Both misterchewy and I adored the Truffle Mushroom Mac & Cheese with Black Roe. The pasta was al dente, with just the right amount of creaminess. Our senses were elevated with the addition of truffle!

A32A9609

I love eggs, especially one that had been submerged in hot water to create softy silky egg white and custardy egg yolk. The Free-range Onsen Egg was a good example that lived up to my expectation and more! You are supposed to beat the yolk and mix it in with the whites and garlic oil before slurping all that goodness!

A32A9615

The presentation of the Uni Ikura Donburi took my breath away. It looks just like a mini terrarium, doesn’t it? We were told to mash everything together before taking in a spoonful, which was a little difficult. Would be great if there was some kinda sauce dizzled over this dish. Our overall experience at FORT was truly amazing. Loved the atmosphere and the energetic vibe! FORT is a great place for romantic dates and also boys’ or girls’ night out! I can foresee myself returning to FORT, without the kids of course. FORT is now taking in reservations for the month of December! At $88++ for its festive omakase menu, I would say that it’s very affordable and worth every dollar. Don’t miss out on it!

Blend It Up Italian Fusion Restaurant by Celebrity Chef Peter Neo

Chef Peter Neo

A few years back, misterchewy and I had the privilege of meeting Celebrity Chef Peter Neo in person and trying his dishes at another restaurant. Chef Peter has since ventured out on his own and set up a cosy and quaint Italian fusion casual dining restaurant along Upper Paya Lebar Road. With 35 years of cooking experience and numerous awards under his belt, Chef Peter, who was trained in Italy, is highly regarded in the media and F&B industry in Singapore and has garnered numerous fans who are also returning customers over the years.

Blend It Up Shop Interior 5

Two-month old Blend It Up Italian Fusion Dining Restaurant aims to bring an Asian twist to Italian cuisine, using only the freshest quality ingredients and blending all of them together with their natural goodness to create the restaurant’s handcrafted soups, sauces and mains. Expect only authentic flavors that are free from any preservatives at Blend It Up!

PA240457

For starters, we had the Seafood Soup which was rich and tangy, and more importantly, packed with flavors of the ocean. There was also a chockfull of ingredients such as prawns, squid, mussels and clams.

PA240461

Using only the freshest mushrooms, the Wild Mushroom Soup had a very nice earthy taste that warmed the cockles of my heart. Great for slurping up on a chilly day!

PA240469

The accompany slices of bread are freshly baked in-house and Little misschewy enjoyed it so much.

PA240462

What’s the best way to eat a fresh squid? Grill it! The Whole Grilled Squid was first seasoned with homemade blend of mixed herbs, paprika, crushed black pepper, basil, and diced cherry tomatoes. After grilling, it was glazed with extra virgin oil and some lemon. The result was a wholesome piece of squid that was so tender and juicy, with its taste further enhanced by the seasoning.

PA240467

The Roasted Pork Belly with Porcini Sauce is our favorite dish at Blend It Up. The pork belly was slow-roasted till tender and was evenly marbled with fat, underneath a layer of crackling which was perfectly crispy. A few steps were involved in the making of this dish, which is Chef Peter’s secret! You wouldn’t believe how crispy the pork crackling was! The homemade Porcini sauce went very well with the roasted pork belly, but I preferred dipping the meat in the refreshing pineapple sauce to tone down the taste of the pork a little.

PA240471

The Salted Egg Spaghetti tasted almost like carbonara with a very faint hint of salted egg. Salted egg pizza is available too!

PA240477

Blend It Up Pizza is Chef Peter’s favorite pizza. The pizza was thin, doughy and crispy around the edges, topped with feta and mozzarella cheese, honey baked ham, mushroom, rocket leaves and a beautiful sunny side up.

PA240484

Little misschewy is quite a fussy eater but let me tell you that she ate at least two slices of pizza. It was that good!

PA240490

There is a variety of lava cakes such as chocolate, salted egg, pistachio and durian, at Blend It Up. We had the Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Gelato. The lava cake was moist and warm, and upon slicing, molten black sesame oozed out from it. Eat it together with the vanilla gelato for a taste of heaven!
