Celebrate Christmas with Jara Petit!

Sponsored Review

I’m so excited that Christmas is coming! Simply love this season of giving! If you are throwing a party at home or in office, these Christmas goodies from Jara Petit definitely make great gifts for everyone! I had blogged about Jara Petit when we gave out some of their super yummy cheesecups to relatives during Little misschewy’s full month celebration and I’m happy to share about them again. I’m sure at this point you must be wondering what’s a cheesecup! A cheesecup is a unique dessert created by Jara Petit, a hybrid between a cheesecake and a cupcake.

Christmas cheese cups

The girls behind Jara Petit are so creative and they are always coming out with new flavors! I tried their 9 regular flavors previously and loved all of them. This time, the 3 Christmas flavors are just as amazing! Their Christmas box of 3 ($11) comes with set of Christmas toppers. The Christmas box of 9 is also available at $30.

Chocolate Mint – Mint cheesecake topped with mint chocolate and drizzled with dark chocolate.

Gingerbread Man Speculoos – Classic cheesecake topped with Speculoos cookie butter and a mini gingerbread man.

White Chocolate Cranberry – White chocolate cranberry cheesecake sprinkled with pistachio nuts.

I really enjoyed all 3 Christmas flavors. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be Chocolate Mint!

Besides the Christmas box, you can also opt for Jara Petit’s Single Cheesecup Gift Pack ($4).

Dessert jars are all the rage now! The packaging is so cute and it’s really convenient to eat your dessert from a small jar. Jara Petit’s cheesecake jars are made of alternating layers of chilled cheesecake, crushed cookies and toppings. The different textures of these layers complement each other perfectly. Cheesecake jars are non-baked and eggless.

image_13

The Chocolate Toblerone Cheesecake Jar ($5) is really rich and decadent! I was happily digging into my jar and savoring every mouthful of this delicious cheesecake. It might be a tad sweet for some but sweet tooth people like me will love this!

Just how cute is this Gingerbread Man Cookie ($3)? I bet it will put a smile on anyone’s face! Don’t we all agree that no Christmas party is complete without some gingerbread men? Hehe.

Eyebrow Embroidery at Browtisan by Coco

Sponsored Review

photo 2

Ever since my very first eyebrow embroidery experience at Browtisan two weeks ago, my self confidence shot through the roof. Believe it or not, I’m someone who practically have no eyebrows. If I were to step out of the house without any basic makeup, I still have to draw my eyebrows. It is something I don’t enjoy doing because I am unable to master the art of drawing perfect eyebrows. Thanks to Browtisan, my life changed for the better!

10561689_858410170844761_1328115368251307760_n

Browtisan stems from the word Brow and Artisan, which is a name coined to reflect the skills and artistry of its ultra-specialised subset of aestheticians. Even though Browtisan is a young brand, the person at the helm is Coco, a veteran in the brow and facial grooming industry. Besides having more than 20 years of experience in this industry, Coco constantly develops new techniques and trains aspiring aestheticians in the art of brow crafting. Many of her trainees have also gone on to be entrepreneurs of their own salons. With the intention of pursuing her long-term dream of having her own salon and to create a new standard in the industry, Coco decided to embark on her own business. Her dream was finally materialized after months of efforts when Browtisan finally had its soft opening in October 2014. I am also full of admiration for Coco when I learned that she provides complimentary eyebrow embroidery services to cancer patients to boost their self confidence.

_MG_4743

Upon my arrival, Coco introduced herself and I was subsequently offered a cup of tea and ushered to a comfortable seat. Coco then explained that eyebrow embroidery is a semi-permanent procedure done on the superficial layer of the skin and lasts around 2 to 4 years (depending on your skin type), unlike eyebrow tattoo which allows ink to penetrate deep into our skin and is rather permanent. Coco carefully assessed my facial features and decided that my eyebrows cannot be too thin and I need a little arch because my face is quite round while my forehead is a little high.

_MG_4747

Coco proceeded to apply anesthetic cream on my eyebrows and then used 3M™ Tegaderm™ Transparent Film Dressing so that the numbing cream can be better absorbed into the skin. The numbing process took about 15 to 20 minutes. It is also the best time to visit the washroom if you need to, before the actual eyebrow embroidery process begins!

_MG_4763

_MG_4766

_MG_4767

Can you see that my eyebrows are almost non existent?!

_MG_4775

Before designing my eyebrow shape, Coco helped to remove stray hair around my eyebrows.

_MG_4782

The designing process took a much longer time as Coco is very meticulous and has a keen eye for detail. She made sure that both eyebrows are of the same length, thickness and shape. Coco’s professionalism made me feel confident that she will do a splendid job on my eyebrows and I was right!

_MG_4790

I was so happy with my new eyebrow design that I could walk out just like that! But no, more had to be done.

_MG_4799

After being led into a room, I had to don a robe and a shower cap so that my hair wouldn’t get in the way. I was also given pillow to hug in case I felt any discomfort during the process. To be honest, I was very very nervous because the idea of a blade scrapping against my skin was way too intimidating.

_MG_4802

A first in the industry, Browtisan combines Creative Eyebrow Techniques, high clinical standards and hygiene with the latest Swiss microscopic amplification technology. Surprisingly, the cutting process was rather painless. Besides making every single eyebrow stroke more refined, accurate, detailed and most importantly – painless, hygienic and professionally done, Browtisan also ensurse that their premises are sterilized with infrared technology for the highest level of hygiene.

_MG_4809

I could only hear the sound of the blade scrapping against my skin but after a while, it didn’t bother me anymore. I got too comfortable and almost fell asleep! Ink was being rubbed into my eyebrows so that the color can be absorbed.

_MG_4811

_MG_4825

Now I can finally tell everyone that I love my eyebrows! There are no side effects from doing eyebrow embroidery. I can still breastfeed and also eat seafood and raw fish. However, I was told not to let my eyebrows touch water for at least 5 days and had to use the transparent film dressing which can be bought at Watsons whenever I wanted to wash my face.

photo 1

Totally loving my new eyebrows! They look really natural and best of all, I don’t have to draw my own eyebrows anymore!

_MG_4837

A big thank you to Coco for changing my life! Eyebrow embroidery at Browtisan starts from $1380 onwards and includes one touch up session. Quote “MISSUSCHEWY” to enjoy 10% off the usual price, till 31 December 2014.

Sponsored Video by Airbnb: Making the World Magically Smaller

If you love travelling and have got a minute to spare, please watch this brilliant video launched by Airbnb. I enjoyed it so much that I watched it a few times. Have you ever experienced how traveling makes the world feel smaller, connecting you to people and places more than ever before? Airbnb, the world’s leading community driven hospitality company, has recreated this feeling by taking the viewer on a train ride full of surprises in its newest film that is being launched today.

The film is as real and unique as a stay in one of Airbnb’s global listings: It was shot in one take and without any computer generated imagery. 30 people spent five weeks building the 85 square meter train set at the heart of the production. More than 2400 craftsmen hours were spent creating a landscape out of 20 square metres of plywood, 12 litres of glue and more than 160 sheets of poly board. All with one goal: to help a wider audience understand Airbnb.

Fun Facts:

• “Welcome to Airbnb” was shot in a 40 x 40 metre warehouse in Auckland, New Zealand
• 9 “Cirkus artists” mechanically moved all the transitions, by hand, as the train moved along the full length of the track
• The castle was 3D printed and then hand painted brick by brick
• Miniature modellers and model painters created more than 100 unique trees, more than 60 hand-cut houses and 240 tailor-made miniature flowers, grasses and shrubs
• 96 figurines were made – including 6 miniatures of real Airbnb guests and 2 dogs
• The film features seven different lighting environments, all happening ‘live’ at the same time
• On the day of the shoot, 85 attempts were made to shoot the whole film, which is just one take – there were plenty more rehearsals
• 18 tables were used to raise the full length train track

In the past, modes of transport were limited and travellers spent months travelling from one place to another. Now, travelling by air is the norm. It takes up a significantly lesser amount of time to get to the destination of our choice. Singaporeans used to travel to neighboring countries like Malaysia by coach or train but as budget airlines gain popularity in the recent years, it has become increasingly popular for locals to commute by plane even if the plane journey is only an hour long. It is also very convenient for travellers to book their plane tickets with the help of technology. Accommodation wise, you will be able to find quirky accommodation choices such as staying in a caravan or treehouse, thanks to Airbnb!

Missuschewy is a Fisher-Price Play IQ Ambassador Mum!

Advertorial

The Chewys

Hello everyone! We are happy to announce that Missuschewy has been selected as a Fisher-Price Play IQ Ambassador Mum! Since young, I have always been an ardent fan of Fisher-Price toys and never had a dull moment playing with them. Now that we have Little misschewy, it is only natural that I select the one brand that I can trust when it comes to buying toys for her. Of course, when I was invited to be a part of the Fisher-Price team, I knew I couldn’t say no!

Daddies and mummies out there, do you know that children learn through play? Play is the most effective method for children to develop their brain in meaningful ways that will lay the foundation for learning as they grow. Children absorb the most and their brain develop rapidly during the first five years of life. As caregivers, we need to understand how play really does benefit our children physically, cognitively and emotionally. The key point is not just playing, but HOW children actually play that makes the difference! Fisher-Price highlights the importance of giving children the right toys at the right developmental stage to help them reach their fullest potential. The only way to go about doing so is to first measure your child’s Play IQ, a tool developed by Fisher-Price which assesses a child’s level of development in three key pillars: Physical, Cognitive and Social & Emotional.

It’s all about choosing the right toys at the right developemental stage!

Little misschewy - Fisherprice

You can find out your child’s Play IQ here! Baby Chanelle is a Small World Explorer, displaying a high physical and cognitive play IQ. Not only does the Play IQ tool recommend toys that are suitable for your child depending on his or her play persona, it goes on to share your child’s development plan and upcoming milestones! How cool is that? I invite all daddies and mummies to join me on this journey to find out how you can help your child achieve his fullest potential! I will also be conducting a givewaway at the end of it all!

Chanelle’s Milestones at 8 Months Old!

HY-04-3G_RAW

Our little chub chub is 8 months old today! We didn’t realize how much Chanelle has grown until we met misterchewy’s buddy’s 2 month old baby girl a couple of weeks back. When the two babies were placed side by side, Little misschewy didn’t seem so little after all. Suddenly, I felt a lump in my throat and wished that time would slow down. On a more positive note, now that Chanelle is older, she is full of surprises and never fails to make us laugh with all her cute antics! 🙂

HY-04-3H_RAW

Physical Growth: The last time Chanelle had her length measured was about a month ago when she had her last vaccination for this year. It should be around 70cm now. She weighs slightly over 8kg. Both her length and weight are around 70th percentile. I was concerned that her growth has slowed down a little but the nurses at the polyclinic reassured me that this is very normal. I thought that Chanelle should have cut at least a tooth by now, but no! She’s still bogay! LOL.

Feeding: Chanelle has not shown much interest in food and all attempts to let her self feed were not successful. She tends to hurl her food, so BLW is out for now! I bought a box of Ella’s Kitchen’s cheese and tomato puffits from Meidi-Ya at Liang Court and Chanelle loves it. Recently, we also discovered that she likes Nestle’s Celerac rice with mixed vegetable and rice with chicken. Other than that, Chanelle is still largely on breastmilk.

HX-01-0U_RAW

Social: This girl is cheekier than ever! She knows how to fake cry (without tears) by squeezing her eyes shut and going “oooooh~ oooooh~”. Super amusing! Just thinking about it makes me wanna laugh. Chanelle has also started to show signs of being able to assess and imitate moods. One good example took place a couple of weeks ago in the nursing room. A baby next door was crying and Chanelle began to cry too. She also displayed stranger anxiety on certain occasions. Currently, Chanelle gets very tickled when we play peek-a-boo with her by covering her with a blanket.

Language: Chanelle has started to vocalize a range of sounds, of which the most distinct one is “papa”. She also raises her hand in excitement when we say “gimme five!”

Motor Skills: Chanelle is able to sit upright without toppling over and she crawls towards my iPhone most of the time. Sometimes, she crawls backwards. Haha. She is learning how to pull herself up these few days! I have to admit that it’s energy draining having to take care of Chanelle because she is very active and is constantly reaching out to grab something.

The above photos were taken by photographers from Live Studios at my cousin’s wedding at Four Seasons Hotel early November. Chanelle had a photoshoot last week so stay tuned for the photos! After my nails had been shaped and buffed, I was asked to select my base colors. Soooo many colors to choose from! I narrowed down to bright and happy colors of course! I also told Jacquelyn what kinda nail art design I had in mind.

The Pitan Tofu is one of the well-loved favorites and a great appetite whetter.

Anago Tempura is essentially soft anago eel encased within a crispy tempura batter. I didn’t really like this as it didn’t go well with the dressing.

There is a wide variety of Kushiyaki items for you to choose from.

My favorite was the Ton Toro (pork cheek) Kushiyaki which had a very tender and delicate texture.

If you like wasabi, you gotta try Tako Wasabi at least once! The hubs and I found that it’s actually pretty mild so most people should be able to stomach this.

Bebe en Blanc Mini Gathering for Eastie Mummies and Babies

IMG_7580

Happy mid week everyone! Sorry for the lack of updates because I simply have no energy to blog lately. Work is kinda crazy and I have been sleeping really early these days. As I had mentioned before, I joined this particular mummies group on FB and because there are too many of us, we further split ourselves up into zones depending on our residential areas. Back in August, we had a mini gathering for the Eastie mummies and babies! The theme was Bebe en Blanc and babies had to be dressed in white. Hehe! All photos in this post were taken by one of the photographers from Lumiere Photography, which our kind host Christine hired and paid for. Thanks Chris! 🙂

That’s my hand supporting Little misschewy because she couldn’t sit up well at that time. Anyway I love all the photos taken by the photographer but I selected those that I like best to be featured in this blog post. Hope I didn’t miss out on any of our adorable babies!
