Park Hotel Clarke Quay Staycation Review

Sponsored Staycation

_MG_3891

It was more than half a year ago when misterchewy and I last went for a staycation in Singapore. Very long ago right! I still remember I popped 18 days later. Hehe. Our recent staycation at Park Hotel Clarke Quay was our very first one as a family of three. Really glad that we brought Little misschewy along because our wedding anniversary and misterchewy’s birthday was a few days later, so we wanted to celebrate the occasion together. I was thrilled about staying at Park Hotel Clarke Quay because I love its classic architecture which is inspired by Singapore’s colonial past. Besides that, I like that the hotel is strategically located in the heart of the city and the nightlife at Clarke Quay is very vibrant. Perfect for party goers and foreigners who want to experience the nightlife in Singapore.

_MG_3794

There are 336 well-appointed rooms and suites at Park Hotel Clarke Quay which all showcase modern baroque furnishings, elevated ceilings, as well as floor-to-ceiling windows that offer guests sweeping views of the Singapore River and the city skyline. Our Club room located on the 9th floor wasn’t too big but there was space for our small luggage, baby playpen and stroller, with room to walk around comfortably.

Baby Chanelle was just as excited as Papa! She was in a bright yellow summer dress, courtesy of Aunty Mag 😀

_MG_3847

Do you know that children under 12 years old stay for FREE at all Park Hotel Group’s establishments? Kids meals are also complimentary!

_MG_3861

In-room amenities tailored for little ones are also available at no additional charge. A bottle sterilizer in the room makes things much more convenient for us.

_MG_3874

Very impressed with the wide selection of snacks!

_MG_3876

As a breastfeeding mother, the first thing I did when I opened the mini fridge was to check if it’s cold enough to store my expressed milk and not what’s inside the fridge. Felt that the fridge wasn’t cold enough and there wasn’t a freezer compartment to freeze the cooling panels of my cooler bag 🙁

_MG_3850

It was Chanelle’s nap time so we let her have the queen-sized bed.

_MG_3870

_MG_3888

Little girl woke up about an hour later and we simply had to show her the view from our room.

IMG_3854

_MG_3916

Before dinner, we pushed Little misschewy around in her Maclaren Denim Quest Stroller. For an extra cushy ride, I got her a Skip Hop Memory Foam Stroller Liner from Agape Babies. They are currently having a diaper bag sale and also 15% off playmats!

_MG_3914

I really love the stunning pool that overlooks the panaromic city skyline. With state-of-the-art audio and visual equipment and superior standards in service, the hotel is an ideal venue to host wedding solemnizations, events and conferences. In fact, there was a wedding ceremony that took place that day!

We were treated to a delectable weekend seafood buffet at Brizo Restaurant & Bar.

Brizo offers contemporary Asian and Western cuisines with seafood specialities. Helmed by Executive Chef Wilson Shum, guests may embark on a voyage through a menu of well-executed fusion creations.

We enjoyed the wide selection of fresh seafood and hot cooked food.

We had to scrap our initial plan of taking a stroll around Robertson Quay because it started to rain after our dinner. Baby Chanelle was in good hands while I took a quick shower 😛

_MG_3994

Behind-the-scene action. Hahaha.

_MG_3990

Pigeon baby bath amenities and bath tub are provided.

_MG_4017

Little misschewy was probably scared when we left her to sleep in the playpen given that the environment was an unfamiliar one.

_MG_4025

When she was finally drunk (on milk, not wine!), we transferred her back to the playpen. Hehehe.

_MG_4041

Our little bubba is clearly a morning person! 😀

_MG_4043

_MG_4050

Thanks to Chanelle, we never really had to set our alarm on weekends because she would be the one waking us up by 9am. Lol. We were in time for breakfast at Brizo! It was Chanelle’s very first time on the high chair, which was too big for her. Anyway, we didn’t have much appetite so we only grabbed a few bites. The egg station is not to be missed!

Headlines Hairdressing: Mucota Dyna Argan Oil Treatment Review

Sponsored Review

photo (5)

HAPPY SEPTEMBER! I’m so excited to share something really awesome with all of you today! I had not done anything to my hair ever since I found out that I was pregnant with Little misschewy last year. Before I was pregnant, I had rebonded, bleached and dyed my hair, which was actually very very very damaging to my tresses. Frankly speaking, I hated my hair because it was extremely dry and frizzy after all the ‘abuse’ it had been through. More often than not, I have a hard time trying to disentangle my hair even though I had made an effort to use hair conditioner during my shower. Apart from that, I am facing postpartum hair loss and it’s worrying the hell out of me! Thanks to fellow blogger kaki Mag, she introduced me to Headlines Hairdressing, who very kindly agreed to be my current hair sponsor! 😀

_MG_3607

Headlines Hairdressing is located at China Square Central. The salon is very cosy and if my memory serves me right, the salon can accommodate about 8 customers at a time. Business was brisk when we went there on a Saturday late afternoon so it’s strongly advisable that you make an appointment prior to making your way down! I was promptly shown to my seat and served a cup of hot tea.

_MG_3615

This is Charles Tan, Creative Director of Headlines Hairdressing, scrutinizing my hair after it was being washed and he commented that my hair was TOO DRY. The good news? Charles was very confident that he could save my hair! Yay! Huge sigh of relief! 😀

banner-dyna

Charles really did save my hair with the help of the Mucota Dyna Argan Oil Treatment. MUCOTA is one of the top prestigious hair care products which have been in Japan since 1983. They have a range of products and Dyna is the latest technology which helps to reduce frizzy hair while making hair straighter at the same time. Unlike the anti-frizz treatment in the current market, it is 100% NO FORMALDEHYDE. Do you know that Formaldehyde is possibly associated with cancer? *GASP* So please choose something safe like Dyna! It is suitable for people who had rebonded their hair before or have unruly and unmanageable hair. As a mother myself, I’m very happy to share that the Dyna treatment is very safe for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers! The key ingredient is Argan oil, which is commonly being referred to as “liquid gold”. When Argan oil penetrates the hair follicle, it gives the hair plenty of volume, while making it smooth and silky at the same time! 🙂

_MG_3612

There are three types of treatment – DYNA CA, DYNA CCA and DYNA CAT. As seen in the photo, Charles picked out DYNA CAT for me. This is best suited for color damaged hair, giving hair a soft and natural finish.

_MG_3610

Damaged hair tends to lose Cell Membrane Complex (CMC) easily. CMC binds cells together so that is not easy to peel off, prevent hair damage and dryness while maintaining hair softness. When CMC is lost, hair becomes wavy and dry! If you refer to the second photo of this post, you will realize that my hair was quite wavy.

_MG_3619

_MG_3622

Since I’m still breastfeeding Chanelle, I really want to emphasize that Dyna treatment is extremely safe! Also, the treatment doesn’t stink at all!

_MG_3627

I had to wait for about 20 minutes before I was led away to wash my hair.

_MG_3632

_MG_3636

Hair washed! Now don’t blink!

_MG_3638

After blow drying, my hair was sooo straight! Look like rebonded hair! This is the power of Dyna treatment. It gives you naturally straight hair!

_MG_3607-horz

Here’s a side by side photo for easier comparison! Before and After!

_MG_3639

The next step was to apply some heat to my hair in order to seal in the goodness of the treatment.

_MG_3653

_MG_3655

For the final step, DYNA AFTER was coated evenly onto my hair. This moisturizes the hair to an even greater extent because the liquid emulsified cream penetrates the hair. It was another 10 minutes wait and the entire treatment concluded with another hair wash!

_MG_3665

I also got Charles to trim my hair since it was ages since I last had it trimmed!

_MG_3667

Here’s a photo of me and Charles. Thank you Charles! 😀

photo (6)

I really love what Dyna treatment did to my hair. It feels so soft and silky and misterchewy is finally able to run his fingers through my hair. LOL.

photo (7)

2014-08-20-11-19-46_deco

Even after two weeks, my hair is still soft, straight and manageable. A number of my colleagues thought that I had rebonded my hair. In case you are wondering, Dyna treatment is expected to last 6 months on average. Prices start from $250 depending on hair length. Remember to quote “Charlene missuschewy” and get 10% off all services at Headlines Hairdressing! Please look for Charles Tan! 😀

Advertorial

lazadasg

Since baby Chanelle was born, I find that I have been having lesser and lesser free time to spend on shopping. Furthermore, when I do head out, it can be frustrating to find the shopping malls all packed with people and then having to lug our purchases back home with Chanelle in tow. To avoid all the inconvenience and hassle, I have turned to online shopping for much of my shopping needs.

There are many online shopping websites but some of them are really cluttered and hard to navigate due to the messy formats of the webpage. I have been searching for a more user-friendly website for some time now and I had almost given up and resigned to my fate of shopping at sub-standard online websites until I stumbled upon Lazada Singapore (http://www.lazada.sg/)!

I was especially impressed with the ease of access at which I was able to get to the various category and product pages on their catalogue and find exactly what I needed, all available at amazing prices much lower than the market rate.

Final verdict – I don’t know about you but I much prefer shopping from the comfort of my own home and then having my purchase delivered directly to my doorstep! This is possible with the service that Lazada Singapore provides, which is free delivery on all orders above $40! They also give you the option of cash on delivery and a 7 day return policy. Okiedog Diaper Bag Review

Sponsored Review

_MG_3517

A few months ago, I was at a loss as to which diaper bag to get because there are so many of them out there in the market! Life is complicated enough, we don’t need diaper bags in all shapes and sizes to give us a headache. I want to tell new mothers that the thing that really matters the most at the end of the day is the WEIGHT of the diaper bag. As new mothers, we tend to be very kiasu and pack more than what is necessary. So, a lightweight diaper bag is really going to save you from a shoulder ache.

_MG_3523

I swear by the diaper bags by Okiedog. They are stylish, roomy, affordable and lightweight! Every mummy’s dream (diaper) bag. I’m currently using this Sakawa Shuttle ($149.90) red bag which embodies the beauty of Asian culture with its intricate cherry blossom embroidery. Do you know that this bag weighs merely 750g? It is ultra light! Now that I’m into my fifth month of motherhood, I have learned to pack what is needed and here are some of the items that go into the bag!

_MG_3527

There are plenty of compartments and I like to keep diapers and wet wipes within reach, by utilizing the outer compartments so that I don’t have a hard time digging for what I want in the midst of a sticky situation.

_MG_3526

A Fridge To Go cooler bag, thermal flask, spare change of clothes, booties, more wet wipes. There are smaller pockets within the bag for you to keep stuff like toys, food, pacifier and teether. The bag also comes with an insulated bottle holder and antibacterial changing mat. This diaper bag is an absolute must-have for all mummies! Do check out Okiedog’s website www.okiedog.com for more designs!

Going Underwater with Sony Xperia Z2!

_MG_3533

Happy Monday! Little misschewy turns 5 months old today! She’s really a lot more playful than before! Recently, I bought a swimming tub for her from Qoo10 and she had her first dip in it last weekend 🙂

_MG_3538

She wasn’t too thrilled actually. When we placed the neck float around her, she was screaming and protesting. It took us some time to calm her down and let her get used to it. LOL.

_MG_3787

This photo was taken yesterday morning and she was clearly beginning to enjoy kicking around in her tub!

Thanks to the latest Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone, I was able to capture a short video underwater! With the waterproof Xperia Z2, you can take pictures with the best phone camera while swimming in freshwater for up to 30 minutes. You can even dive up to 1.5 metres with it. Just remember that all the covers for the micro USB port, the micro SIM slot and the memory card slot must be firmly closed. How cool is that?! Matching Beushoes for Mummy and Child

Sponsored Post

DSCF2015

I shall start off this post by quoting Marilyn Monroe, “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.” Our shoes certainly play a very important role in our everyday lives and it can either make or break your day. I’m here to introduce to you Singapore’s first bespokes shoes for children, be*U! Hitting the shelves at Takashimaya Department Store and TweenAge earlier in May this year, be*U is an award-winning luxurious children shoe brand which encourages originality and personal expression. This is made possible with over 600 designs, 100 colors and 6 different types of leathers such as kangaroo, cow, lamb, ostrich, horsehide and crocodile.

atelier1

Apart from the unique appearance of the brand’s range of shoes, be*U places a strong emphasis on quality and uses only the finest genuine leather sourced from Europe and America to produce award-winning products that embody the true spirit of fine craftsmanship and attention to detail. Do you know that each pair of shoes is painstakingly handmade by well-trained artisans and requires 10 hours of workmanship? This includes cutting of the leather, sewing, stitching and embossing of the name and message, making each pair truly unique.

DSCF2019

This gift box set comes with a variety of motfis that you can choose from for your child to match his/her various outfits. It also upps the fun factor as well!

DSCF2046

All the designs are done by hand and the leathers are cut out piece by piece by experienced craftsmen. What you see here is just a very small fraction of what is actually available. There are designs that are gender neutral and gender specific.

DSCF2048

The ingenious idea of incorporating velcro enables the easy interchanging of different motif designs. Who wouldn’t love a pair of shoes like these? Your little one gets to choose his/her own motifs whenever wherever!

10338733_302918039873323_3728376265217847866_n-tile

Apart from the special gift box set, these are some of the many shoes from be*U’s kids collection. As you can see, the possibilities are endless! All the designs are so cute!

DSCF2025

Chanelle is really lucky to be able to own her very first pair of walking shoes from be*U even though she hasn’t even started to crawl. Haha! A very lovely red and pink Narcissus design from the kids keyboard collection.

DSCF2029

Examining her kicks with much interest!

DSCF2038

Much thought went into designing the perfect pair of be*U shoes. The signature patented keyboard outsole is an award winning invention. The keyboard outsole maximizes the flexibility and shock absorbancy in the heel. Stitched by hand instead of glue, the outsole is certainly built to last for a very long time!

DSCF2063

Children learning to walk tend to swing thus the heel counter helps correct walking postures as it contains a stiffener to provide solid support to the heel and hold the feet more firmly. Body weight is also supported by the heel thus reducing the extra tension created, resulting in an excellent environment for children’s foot development.

DSCF2060

be*U shoes are equipped with adequate cushioning of the insole and a built-in arch for ultimate comfort and support for the feet. The shoes also open up widely and allows kids to put them on easily, without the help of an adult.

DSCF2040

be*U shoes use the classic stitch because it will not unravel. The hand-sewn lined thread is coated with wax to make it smooth, waterproof and to prevent rotting.

DSCF2057

If you notice from the photo, be*U rounded shoes are extra wide, and thus mimics barefoot walking closely. The rounded edges provide more room for the little toes and allow feet to move, grip and feel the floor. This way, little feet can grow properly and develop strength and musculature through the grasping action of the toes.

DSCF2042

The new ankle-high cut provides more support and hence more protection, which lowers the risk of ankle sprains.

DSCF2052

It may be hard to believe but children’s feet perspire heavily! be*U only uses 100% genuine leather as it is a breathable material. It is not only more durable but also helps to keep the child’s foot cooler and dryer which prevents blisters, discomfort and odour.

DSCF2050

Mummy missuschewy is also very lucky to receive a pair of Ballerina shoes to match Baby Chanelle’s! The adult ballerina comes in five different widths and mums are welcome to customize their pairs as well. The other be*U signature in the ballerina range are the 12-hour shoes, which are designed for long periods of standing. With a wider width, shock absorption, energy-return insole and high durability outsole, the 12-hour ballerinas provide the ultimate comfort that cannot be found elsewhere. I can’t wait for Chanelle to start walking so that we can wear our matching shoes and conquer the world together! 😉

We are happy to offer a discount code to parents who are keen!

1) ‘Like’ be*U’s Facebook page and/or Follow be*U’s Instagram account to view more designs.

2) Place your order online (not valid for purchase at retail shops) by emailing order@beushoes.com or dropping a private message on Facebook. Quote ‘missuschewy’ to enjoy 20% off! This promotion is valid till 31st July 2014.

Lucky Baby Princess Playpen

Sponsored Review

_MG_2885

Ever since our traditional wedding last March, I have been officially staying with my in laws but we still return to my parents’ place to stay over for the weekend. The husband and I are so used to sleeping together on a super single sized bed in my bedroom for the past 3 years since our ROM. He stays with my family most of the time back then because it’s so much nearer our workplaces.

_MG_2887

Now that we have Little misschewy, the three of us squashed in a tiny bed doesn’t seem like a good idea at all. Thanks to Lucky Baby, Chanelle has her own comfortable space to sleep in! Do you know that Lucky Baby is a long standing Singapore brand that has been producing quality baby products for almost 50 years?

_MG_2865

There are a few designs for Lucky Baby’s range of playpens and I naturally wanted this princess design for Chanelle. So lovely!

_MG_2868

I really love this playpen for its cute princess design and bright pink and purple colors! Just looking at this makes me happy 🙂 Also, the playpen is huge and spacious, measuring 110cm in length, 78cm in width and 77cm in height. It also has a unique central locking system for added stability and safety.

_MG_2858

The playpen comes with a bassinet which is wide and detachable. Parents like us will appreciate that there is a safety strap so that you don’t have to worry about your baby rolling right off when you are not looking even for just a split second.

_MG_2860

There is a side toy bag which I use to keep some diapers. Really convenient when I change Chanelle’s diapers in the middle of the night because all I need to do is reach into the bag and grab a clean diaper.

_MG_2870

Music, vibration and daylight functions. I use the music function mostly to keep Chanelle entertained.

_MG_2871

My parents bought a playpen mobile which fits nicely. They also got Chanelle a set of matching mattress, pillow, bolster and blanket.

_MG_2896

Looks like I don’t have much of an excuse to not bring Little misschewy along for our staycations in future?! The playpen can be easily dismantled to fit into this travel bag which makes it too convenient.

_MG_2890

Here’s Little misschewy looking real cosy in her playpen 🙂

_MG_2891

Big thanks to Lucky Baby and also Agnes for delivering the playpen! Stay connected with us on Facebook www.facebook.com/missuschewy and on Instagram @missuschewy and @misterchewy 🙂

Kidsme Food Feeder and Baby Products

Media Invite

DSCF1987

Really happy to be invited to my first ever mummy blogger event which was held at Roosevelt’s Diner and Bar earlier this month! Great opportunity for me to meet fellow mummies who are so much more experienced than I am! Bumped into Mummy Serene, whom I first met a few years ago when I was doing an independent study module on motherese back in my uni days. The event turned out to be splendid because I got to learn about really cool baby food feeding products which Little misschewy will be exposed to in time to come 🙂

DSCF1975

We didn’t bring Chanelle along because at barely 2 months old then, she was too young for her first hand experience of the products. I think all the other mummy bloggers were at the event with their kids and the young ones looked super adorable! *Pinch cheeks* 😛

DSCF1956

Here’s Qiqi, the founder of Totsworld Pte Ltd, demonstrating how to use the various Kidsme products. She first launched Kidsme Singapore in Singapore Expo this April.

_MG_1845

_MG_1861

This is the award-winning Kidsme Food Feeder ($18.90), developed to let little ones safely and independently explore new tastes and textures at an early age without the risk of choking. Its innovative yet simple design gives babies a head start towards a lifetime of healthy eating. It also helps in developing babies’ fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

_MG_1866-horz

You can feed your little one pureed or solid food to encourage chewing. Do you know that the act of chewing not only aids in better digestion and nutrients absorption, but is also crucial for speech development?

DSCF1966

The Silicone Sacs (2 for $10.90) are medical-grade and can be sterilized. You are strongly encouraged to replace them once every few months and these silicone sacs come in different sizes.

pic-food-feeder05

Obviously, so much thought has been given to come up with Kidsme Food Feeder with all the amazing features listed above. If you notice, Kidsme Food Feeder looks like a pacifier except that it has small little handles which encourage self-feeding with its ergonomic design that makes it easy for little hands to hold on to. The textured sac cleverly doubles up as a teether too.

DSCF1946

Hehe.. Mummy Jolin’s small J exploring Kidsme Food Feeder with much interest.

DSCF1951

Mummy Maggie’s daughter, Kayliss, looks like a huge fan of Kidsme Food Feeder already! As you can see, it is a useful tool in introducing new types of food to your child 🙂 I’m gonna start thinking about the very first solid food that I would like Chanelle to try!

_MG_1850-horz

Kidsme Multi-Function Food Scissors ($16.90) is another wonderful product. As its name suggests, this food scissors has different functions – it can cut, mash and scoop! Whether at home or on the go, Kidsme Multi-Function Food Scissors makes mealtime safe, fun and also convenient. Its biaxial system and stainless steel cutlery-grade blades allow you to safely, easily and efficiently cut your children’s food into small pieces. Even meat or fruit can be mashed into safe bite-sized pieces which helps reduce the risk of choking. With Kidsme Multi-Function Food Scissors, you can even turn food into cool shapes!

DSCF1960

_MG_1851

I had actually bought a strawberry-shaped teether for Chanelle at the Taka Baby Fair earlier this year because I love strawberries. But now, I think I’m gonna keep that aside and let her use this Kidsme Icy Moo Moo Soother ($14.90) once she begins to show signs of teething! Don’t you think it looks cute?

_MG_1853-horz

One thing I like about Kidsme Icy Moo Moo Soother is that the travel-friendly cap can also be used as an ice pop mold. Simply fill the mold with fruit juice or even your breast milk, dip the soother in and pop the whole thing into the freezer. Viola! You have a nice icy treat for your little one in no time 🙂

_MG_1856

The textured, silicone teats also provide much comfort to sore gums.

_MG_1872

I have seen quite a number of milk bottles on the market but this Kidsme PPSU Diamond Wide Neck Milk Bottle ($42.90) is really one of a kind. It combines elegance, modern design, and premium PPSU material to create the most exquisite bottle for your baby. It takes inspiration from the Sancy Diamond, a magnificent pale yellow, shield-shaped 55 carat diamond. PPSU is one of the safest bottle materials available today, and offers superb clarity and durability. The flexible, removable handles provide ease and comfort to your baby while feeding.

_MG_1876

Because of its durability, it can withstand falls from various heights without breaking. This milk bottle certainly looks classy! I’m sure it’s gonna grab a lot of attention when Chanelle uses it 🙂

DSCF1983

Here are some of the food items from the kids menu that we tried at Roosevelt’s after the event. Roosevelt’s prides itself as a kids friendly diner so I foresee myself going back for a meal with misterchewy and Chanelle some day! Besides a kids menu, Roosevelt’s provides baby high chairs and kids cutlery. Rest assured that only healthy, non processed food is used for dishes under the kids menu.

DSCF1980

DSCF1979

The hubs and I totally love the Buttermilk Waffles with Mixed Berries! Definitely one of the better tasting waffles that we have had so far!

Dedicating this post to my little chewy baby who turned 2 months old recently! Sorry mummy and papa are away in Taiwan right now 🙁 It is the worst decision that I have ever made and this is gonna be my first and last time that I’m travelling without Chanelle. We actually booked our tickets towards the end of my third trimester and I thought I wouldn’t miss my baby. As I’m typing this, I only have three more hours before leaving for the airport. Feeling very emotional because I will be missing out on an entire week watching Chanelle grow. I love gazing at her angelic face when she’s sound asleep and how nice she smells all the time.

Friends have told me to treat this as a good break before I return to work in June. I’m taking 3 months and keeping the remaining 1 month. I wonder if I have any chance of being a SAHM?! LOL.

Ok back to the topic! Photos were taken by Jacky from Studio Memories. We previously had our maternity shoot at this studio as well. Chanelle was 11 days old at that time and I was still doing my confinement. Thank goodness my confinement nanny gave me the green light to wash my hair that day. Hehe. Chanelle slept too much in the day and she was wide awake during the shoot. Actually, it’s best for newborn babies to be asleep during such photoshoots. Chanelle doesn’t like to be positioned lying down on her front and she fussed and cried. Hence, there’s a photo of her showing off her diapers. Hahaha.

So glad that Chanelle had her newborn photos taken by Studio Memories! Jacky did a terrific job imo, considering how much Chanelle was squirming and making noise throughout the shoot. I swear I would have lost my patience if I were him. Haha.
