4D3N Pattaya Trip with Klook Travel

Can you guys believe it? We are almost done with the first half of 2018! Fellow mummies and daddies, please give yourselves a pat on the back because you have worked hard and sacrificed for your family. If anything, you totally deserve a break and go on a holiday with your loved ones this summer! Trust me, you don’t have to travel far to have a shiok overseas trip. The Chewys flew to Pattaya for a short 4D3N getaway and we came back fully recharged! Pattaya has always struck me as a beach place with nothing but water sports activities but boy, was I wrong. Even though Pattaya is known as a resort city in Thailand, there are actually plenty of kid-friendly activities that you can plan, which I will cover in this blog post 🙂 It was a total breeze for us as we booked our airport transfers and activities via Klook Travel, Asia’s largest travel services booking platform with over 35000 activities.

PATTAYA DAY ONE

Prior to departing Singapore, I received an email with very clear instructions as to where to locate the Klook staff and upon touching down at Suvarnabhumi Airport, we boarded the van without any delays. We also received our data SIM cards from our driver without having to go through the hassle of queuing at the booth. It is especially crucial for us that we reach Pattaya in the shortest possible time since we were travelling with two young children and thankfully, the journey was a smooth one!

After checking into our accommodation, we took a short break before visiting Swiss Sheep Farm Pattaya. I’m glad we made this our one and only activity for the first day of our trip so that we could take our time to explore the farm.

The kids were so excited to see the animals up close too!

PATTAYA DAY TWO

We visited The Sanctuary of Truth, a religious all-wood construction. Apart from appreciating the beauty of the intricate Thai architecture, we were surprised that there were quite a number of activities to make your trip worthwhile.

It was the girls’ first time on a horse carriage ride and they were shrieking in excitement. As for me, I enjoyed admiring the beauty of the temple as the horse galloped away.

In the afteroon, we headed to Pattaya Mini Siam, which is located near The Sanctuary of Truth, hence I planned these two destinations on the same day. The place was relatively empty, much to our surprise. At Mini Siam, you get to experience Thailand and Europe all in one place.

Plenty of photo opportunities and I’m glad we brought our tripod along to capture these precious moments! If you enjoy taking photos, be prepared to spend at least two hours there. Book your tickets for Pattaya Mini Siam here.

PATTAYA DAY THREE

We decided to take things nice and slow, hence we dedicated one full day to visiting Khao Kheow Open Zoo. It is not called an OPEN ZOO for nothing. Some of the animals are left to roam about rather freely and visitors have the opportunity to interact with them.

Khao Kheow Open Zoo certainly feels different from any other zoos, which is a pretty eye-opening experience for us! The zoo is quite big, so it’s highly recommended that you rent a buggy there to minimize exploring on foot, or arrange a private driver to take you around the premises. PATTAYA DAY FOUR

Before checking out of our accommodation, we managed to squeeze in a visit to Teddy Bear Museum Pattaya, which is a must-visit if you and your children love teddy bears!

We had an early Mother’s Day celebration with my family at my parent’s place last Saturday. Mother’s Day Photoshoot by ChicChug Creations

On Sunday, we went for a Mother’s Day photoshoot with ChicChug Creations, a lifestyle home based studio located along Gangsa Road. The name ChicChug was inspired by a simple old way of making a shutter sound when the older generation improvised a camera shape with their fingers before they said “Chit-Chuck”.

Wayne and Geraldine, photographer husband and wife duo specialise in newborn, baby, maternity, cake smash and family lifestyle photography in Singapore. They place strong emphasis on the importance of storytelling and emotion, capturing the intimate relationships between couples and among family members.

For this Mother’s Day mini photoshoot session, the floral setup is done by Le Fairy Meadow. It is classic and elegant, which is very befitting of a Mother’s Day celebration.

I was initially worried that the girls would be cranky because they did not manage to nap before the shoot. Thankfully, they warmed up really quickly as Geraldine was good with kids and they kept smiling as Wayne fired away on his camera. I’m sure having plenty of professional experience helps too! I have never seen the kids being so cooperative before!

We certainly had a very enjoyable photoshoot and highly recommend ChicChug to everyone who wants to have their precious moments captured at an affordable rate!

Kumoya X tokidoki Pop-Up Café in Singapore

If you are reading this, chances are you love tokidoki! Rejoice because the World’s FIRST tokidoki cafe is slated to open tomorrow, on 29 March 2018, at Kumoya cafe! You might even get a chance to get up close and personal with Simone Legno, the co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of tokidoki as he will be flying into Singapore specially to officiate the opening launch day of Kumoya X tokidoki pop-up cafe!

I have been a fan of tokidoki in recent years, thanks to fellow mummy friends who introduced me to the tokidoki X Ju-Ju-Be diaper bag collections! To date, I own a variety of bags from collections like Space Place, Animalini, Donutella Sweet Shop, Kaiju City, Unikiki V2, Tokipops, etc! Oops I digress. #sorrynotsorry

My kaki Modgam knows that I loveeee tokidoki, so she very kindly extended her invitation to misterchewy and I to join her in previewing this pop-up adventure. We were instantly blown away as we entered the cafe because it totally screams TOKIDOKI! The entire place is so wild, fun and quirky!

Looking at all the colorful characters makes one feel younger already!

If you don’t already know, the theme at Kumoya changes every three months. Thus, the interior, decorations and menu, etc, change along with the themes.

I also like that Kumoya provides plenty of plush toys which makes the place more fun and inviting. The toys are also great as photos props!

The menu is very straightforward and clearly categorized into Snacks, Mains, Desserts, and Beverages.

Beverages make up the bulk of the menu, with a total of 11 different choices, one of them being the Sassy Strawberry Nojito ($12.90). Sweet and sour, the perfect combo. Strawberry fruit mix is combined with wild mint syrup, soda water and fresh lime. Served with a straw holder of your favorite characters, fresh strawberry and mint leaves. This is one of the selected beverages that comes with free tokidoki limited-edition coasters, while stocks last.

If you are a coffee person, the Latte Iced Latte ($13.90) is a must-try. Handcrafted and brewed from premium UCC Japanese coffee beans. Served with a hand-crafted Latte cookie and magic wafer rainbow sticks. Topped with fresh whipped cream and magic sprinkles.

All Frappe will be served with FREE limited edition Donutella float (worth $12.90) while stocks last. Donutella Mighty Minty Chocolate Chip Frappe ($17.90) A refreshing drink with a minty kick! Green mint syrup is blended with milk and chocolate chips. Topped with fresh whipped cream and a sprinkle of dark chocolate chips!

Kaki had the Donutella Sweet Treat Caramel Popcorn Frappe ($17.90) which she really really liked because it’s super sweet lol. It’s a frappe Donutella would approve! A blend of popcorn syrup, milk and popcorn. Topped with fresh whipped cream, caramel sauce and caramel popcorn.

If you don’t exactly have a sweet tooth, Donutella’s First Love! Strawberry Cheese Frappe ($17.90) is the drink for you! Drink you favorite cheesecake! A frappe made up of cheesecake syrup and blended with strawberry fruit mix and milk. Garnished with red rosebuds, fresh whipped cream and a sprinkle of little rainbow bits! I love it because it’s not cloyingly sweet and was actually quite light and easy to drink! One more also no problem!

Go for the Unicorno Cotton Candy ($17.90) if you want something Instagram-worthy! The bluish purple cotton candy is so pretty that everyone went “WHOA!”. What’s unique, sweet and “rainbowy”? Unicorno’s Rainbow Cotton Candy! Sitting atop passion fruit and strawberry Calpis with butterfly pea tea.

Onion rings and fries are the usual suspects for snacks and we chose the Golden Sweet Potato Fries ($10.90). Taste the natural sweetness of the sweet potato battered with a subtle blend of spices. Balanced nicely with a sprinkle of house-blend sweet sour plum. It’s addictive!

We tried a few of the mains which were all really good. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from a character-themed cafe but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food served which is definitely value-for-money!

Donutella & Sweet Friends Japanese Curry Rice ($25.90). Donutella doesn’t go anywhere without her friends. Teriyaki flavored fluffy Japanese rice accompanies Japanese curry, fresh tempura salmon, breaded ebi, breaded scallops, calamari rings and fresh garden salad. Served with Miso soup and side dish of the day.

Moofia-Protected Pressed Sushi Rice ($24.90). Moofia and gang will ensure you’re in safe hands with this pressed sushi rice with grilled unagi in teriyaki sauce, Japanese cucumber and cheddar cheese. Served with Miso soup and side dish of the day.

SANDy and Polpettina Full-of-Life Chicken Katsu Burger ($23.90). SANDy and Polpettina combine forces to bring you chicken katsu burger dipped with sweet teriyaki sauce, hand-cut fries, fresh garden salad with cute ‘bones’ fish cakes and a cute little sweet Polpettina pink mantou with custard fillings. Served with Miso soup and side dish of the day.

A Lot-of-Things LAH! Merlion Seafood Ramen ($28.90). There’s plenty of ingredients swimming in your bowl! Ocean fresh crayfish and scallops, ramen egg, spring onion, wakame and kooky Merlion fish cakes. Served with fresh garden salad and side dish of the day. I really love the attention to detail as this dish is served with a special printed Sea Punk tray liner, while the earlier Moofia sushi rice is served with Moofia tray liner!

Stellina Sunny Morning Unicorno Magic Breakfast ($25.90). Start your day with happy colors! Chicken and beef sausages, hashbrown, scrambled egg, baked beans, fresh garden salad with cherry tomatoes confit and cute thunder cheese with toasted cloud bread with a happy rainbow food-pick. Served with Miso soup and side dish of the day.

The selection of desserts is also very exciting and boy, were we spoilt for choice. Being a hardcore Donutella fan, I just had to pick the Donutella’s Delightful Chocolate Cake with Dark Chocolate Sauce ($18.90)! Discover what makes Donutella delightful. Tuck into a stacked berries cake, fresh berries, heart-shaped konnyaku jelly, pretty flower chocolate, dark chocolate cookies crumble and drizzled with dark chocolate sauce. The berries cake tasted light, moist and fluffy, and went very well with the cookies crumble.

SANDy is kaki’s favorite tokidoki character, so she insisted we order SANDy’s Desert Garden ($17.90)! Welcome to Cactus Land! Hokkaido berries soft serve, cookies and cream brulee, chocolate rocks and flower, buttery SANDy cactus cookies and fresh cream.

Donutella and Dolce make such a perfect pair in the Dolce Pretty-in-Pink Berries Sponge Cake ($18.90)! As delicious as it is pretty! This strawberry sponge cake is accompanied by wafer sticks, fresh cream, marshmallow hearts and rounded off with fluffy cotton candy.

If waffles and ice cream are your thing, then Adios and Ciao Ciao’s Farewell Fantasy Charcoal Waffles ($22.90) will not disappoint. Before you say good-bye, have a Hokkaido berries soft serve and special buttery charcoal waffles, lovely Ciao Ciao heart cookies, fresh berries, strawberry chocolate coated cereal crunch, fresh cream and dark chocolate sauce. I must say that the charcoal waffles were crispy and pretty good!

We saw another table order the Unicorno Rainbow Magic Parfait! ($23.90) and we just had to go over to take some photos of this pretty dessert. Special dual swirl of Hokkaido berries soft serve, handcrafted rainbow wafer bowl, rainbow wafer sticks, Unicorno cookies, homemade brownies, special heart konnyaku jelly and fluffy cotton candy.

Singapore World Water Day: Make Every Drop Count!

As the finance minister of The Chewys family, I am always scrutinising our water bills and trying to find ways to reduce our household water consumption. After all, we are just a small family of two adults and two toddlers; I doubt we should be using THAT much water.

I decided to find out more at the annual month-long Singapore World Water Day (SWWD) campaign on 3rd March at the Marina Barrage. I was heartened to know that there were many other like-minded Singaporeans who wanted to do their part in helping to save water!

Guest-of-Honour President Halimah Yacob kicked off the SWWD event with a speech.

There were a number of booths run by both volunteers and students. For someone as clueless as me, it was an eye-opening experience learning about the various water-saving habits that one can adopt!

We use the washing machine daily as the sight of dirty clothes piling up in the laundry basket can be quite an eyesore. It is no wonder our water usage is so high! Through the SWWD campaign, I discovered that laundry contributes to one of the top water usage areas in household water consumption and that we should always try to wash our clothes on full load instead of running many small loads of laundry. Every time the washing machine is used, water is consumed, hence it is more efficient to consolidate washes!

I am not so guilty of taking long showers because mothers hardly have a peaceful time in the bathroom. LOL. However, if you have been enjoying your private karaoke sessions during shower time, please remember to not get carried away and stay in the bathroom for a longer time than you should! As a rule of thumb, always limit your shower time to not more than 5 minutes! Also, don’t forget to turn off the water while shampooing your hair and soaping up!

Did you know that if you flush a toilet 4 times a day on full-flush, you use 18 litres of water? Using 2 half-flushes instead will save you 3 litres of water and that’s 2 bottles of water saved! So, always remember to use half-flush when possible!

This might seem like a no-brainer but misterchewy and I haven’t been using a mug when brushing our teeth. We would cup our hands and scoop water directly from the tap when rinsing our mouths. Come to think of it now, this very act wastes water as the tap runs while your hands are away from the faucet. Okay, time to buy couple mugs! Hahaha!

Young children were also educated on water-saving habits through fun and games at the SWWD event. Besides gaining awareness on saving water, it is also important to pledge to do so. SWWD’s Water Conservation Ambassadors will reach out to residents either door-to-door or at SWWD roadshows to encourage the community to take up the “I Save” Pledge, adopt the five water-saving tips and reduce their water consumption.

Make every drop count! Everyone has a part to play in conserving water, in keeping our waterways clean, and in caring for Singapore’s precious water resources. Always remember that a little goes a long way!

Hong Kong Photoshoot with Shoot My Travel

During our Hong Kong trip late last year, we dedicated some time to a casual family photoshoot in Central area. We wanted a little tour around the area as well, and what better way than to engage a freelance photographer via Shoot My Travel? It’s the perfect way to experience the city through the lens of a local photographer! Wylie was our photographer and we communicated via emails and subsequently whatsapp prior our trip.

It is very important to discuss your preferences and expectations with your photographer so that you can have a smooth photoshoot on the day itself. Based on previous experiences, a shoot in the morning is better for us because the kids are chirpy and smiley, before their nap time that is. After deciding on the date and time of the shoot, we moved on to settle the location of the shoot. I told Wylie that I wanted to avoid modern architecture as I preferred Hong Kong’s colonial charm. She provided some really good suggestions and Central appealed the most to me.

I totally forgot about planning our outfits for the shoot and was about to haphazardly throw in some clothes into our luggage when Wylie texted to ask if we will be in matching attires. It was difficult to pick out something coordinated which we have not worn before in previous shoots but I finally managed to go for a neutral-colored theme, with the girls watching matching dresses. I think we look pretty ok in the photos!

Wylie went the extra mile and got her assistant to help us with our bags and stroller so it really lightened our load during the shoot. They arrived early and we got to commence the photoshoot right away. This is very crucial especially when you have young children! Every second counts! LOL.

The shoot was a relaxing one and we got to explore the area which we couldn’t have done so without Wylie showing us around. It was a pity we could only one hour because the kids usually get restless very quickly! I would definitely recommend going for at least a two-hour shoot if you can afford the time. Madame Tussauds Hong Kong

Heyyy chewy friends! How’s it going? Hahaha I’m back again to continue blogging about our Hong Kong trip which took place in November last year! OMG blog so long still haven blog finish! LOL. I know it’s funny that we have not been to Madame Tussauds in Singapore and yet, made it a must-visit in Hong Kong. Psst.. You will find out why really soon 😛

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is located at The Peak and there are a few ways to get there. We took the Peak Tram and the queue was excruciatingly long under the hot sun. While we were queuing, I almost wanted to give up and kept thinking if it was a bad idea to make this part of our itinerary. But once you get there, you will come to realise that it is all worth it. LOL. I’m not so much into Taiwanese or Hong Kong artistes actually. This is Ethan Ruan if you duno. Haha.

Of course must take photo with Andy Lau. Do you know that you can feel his “heartbeat”?

Wahahaha Albert Einstein. Sorry I barely made it for Physics.

Donnie Yen is the man! I enjoyed all his Ip Man movies tremendously!

99 Percent Hair Studio at Bedok Point

Hello everyone! If you have been following me on IG or FB, you would know that I recently got a hair transformation at 99 Percent Hair Studio at Bedok Point! For the first time,, I received sooo many compliments about my hair, so I decided to share more about it on my blog today!

Changi Recommends X Ocean Park

It has been raining a lot in Singapore and I can’t help but be reminded of the wet weather experience we had at Ocean Park during our Hong Kong trip in November. We spent almost a week in Hong Kong and the weather was perfect, except that it rained the entire day in Ocean Park, right from the minute we set foot on the theme park! *Grumbles* Hahaha. It was too late to make any changes to our plans so we decided to just embrace the cool weather and have fun!

While researching for our trip, I found out that the MTR South Island Line opened in December 2016 and there is direct access to the park entrance if you alight at Ocean Park Station. Super convenient and it’s only 3 stops away from our hotel!

Besides the convenience in travelling, we also got our admission tickets and fast passes via Changi Recommends! Basically, you can get everything covered just by visiting the website! Changi Recommends offer good deals on connectivity (WiFi and SIM), transport, and activities, etc! Getting our Ocean Park tickets before our trip is definitely a good decision as there are huge money savings and most importantly, we saved time without having to queue for our tickets at the park.

Entering the park with our e-Tickets was a total breeze too, as we simply had to flash our phone to get the QR codes scanned. Alternatively, you may also print the tickets on A4-sized paper 🙂

Although Ocean Park offers complimentary WiFi, we found that it was a little unstable (not sure if the rainy weather played a part? haha) and we got disconnected at times, much to our frustration. Good thing we had our WiFi router which we had loaned from Changi Recommends! In fact, staying connected throughout our holiday was vital as we often had to seek information online as well as update my social media pages with photos of our trip! Hehe.

Ocean Park is really huge and it’s basically divided into The Summit (highland) and The Waterfront (lowland). I also highly recommend going for the Ocean FasTrack as it gives you priority accesses for designated rides and attractions. It’s kind of like a fast pass and we managed to beat the queue for the Ocean Express!

The Summit features all the crazy exciting rides that you can think of and they are definitely not for the faint-hearted! Needless to say, we did not go for any of these rides because we weren’t up for it, plus it was raining! Also, Little misschewy did not meet the minimum height requirement for all the rides there. LOL.

The restaurants were all packed because it was lunch time and everyone was seeking shelter, so we decided to stop by a food kiosk for a quick bite instead. The giant turkey leg was so juicy and delicious!

Since we are already at The Summit, we checked out the Ocean Theatre where there was an animal fun talk on seals.

Took the Ocean Express back to The Waterfront and both girls fell asleep because it was their nap time.

Again, we managed to skip the queue at The Grand Aquarium, thanks to our FasTrack band which was worn around our wrists!

Time for a snack!

This is one of the mascots at Ocean Park but I can’t remember his name. Haha.

Each time we passed by the mascot meet and greet booth, we would take a photo with the various mascots on duty. Lol! Super cute can!

Don’t have to worry about getting hungry as there are plenty of food kiosks and restaurants scattered all over Ocean Park.

Whiskers Harbour has up to 11 attraction rides that are more suitable for young children of Little misschewy’s age.

Hahaha just to make sure that Little misschewy is eligible for the Frog Hopper ride.

Totally clueless before the ride lol.

The hubs and I were really evil because we kept laughing when Little misschewy got frightened and buried her face in her hands.

On the Balloons Up-Up-And-Away ride! It’s actually a mini ferris wheel that moves really really slowly. Haha.

Make sure you stop by Whiskers Theatre to catch the Ocean Heroes!

It is very meaningful as you will get to learn about ocean conservation through the songs and dances. Although the songs were in Cantonese, we could get the message through their wonderful performance.

There are a number of baby care rooms in Ocean Park so it shouldn’t be an issue if you want to feed your little ones or have his/her diapers changed.

Finally it was time for our cable car ride! It is another must-do at Ocean Park! The kids loved it so much!

This place is like a mini Chinatown. Very good for photo ops!

There are a few game stalls so if you are feeling lucky, do give it a shot and win some prizes!

We actually stayed till closing time! Can’t wait to revisit Ocean Park when the kids are slightly older and of course, thank you Changi Recommends for the awesome experience!

The Magical Realm at Velocity@Novena Square

Hurray! It’s December! Are you ready for the festive season? I particularly enjoy visiting shopping malls this time of the year because the Christmas carols, dazzling decorations and year-end sales never fail to put me in a jolly mood! Over the weekend, we visited Velocity@Novena Square and were enthralled by the transformation of its main atrium into The Magical Realm! It comprises of three interactive zones, so expect many photo opportunities and exciting activities for the entire family! Get access to The Magical Realm with a minimum spending of $25.

1. The Enchanted Forest

Be greeted by a Life Size Snow Globe upon entering The Enchanted Forest! Holy smoke, it’s two storeys high! There are Christmas trees, fluffy reindeers and the entire ground is covered in “snow”.

I have a thing for snow globes because I love watching the “snow” fall when the globe is being shaken. When you are inside the gigantic snow globe, you will get to experience “snowfall” too!

Remember to bring along your camera!

2. The Quaint Old English Town

Join in the story-telling session with Santa over the weekends!

The kids were excited about the horse carriage and a photo with it is a must!

3. The Mesmerizing Carnival

I’m pretty sure that The Mesmerizing Carnival zone was Little misschewy’s favourite. She wanted to go on the carousel but there is something bigger and better!

Look at this pretty Fibreglass horse! So Instagram-worthy!

During the weekends in Dec ’17 (till 24 Dec) between 12noon to 6pm, there will be the following fringe activities happening in the interactive zones: Balloon Sculpting, Popcorn & Candy Floss, and Storytelling with Santa.

After exploring the interactive zones, don’t forget to check out the Christmas Market featuring indie designers and charity organizations located from L1 to L3 of the mall, available till 24 Dec 10am to 9pm daily.
