Senso Ristorante & Bar: Romantic Italian Restaurant at Chinatown

_MG_6931

It has been briefly mentioned in our staycation at Wanderlust Hotel blog post that misterchewy took me to Senso Ristorante & Bar for my advanced birthday dinner, after our terrarium workshop. Ok correction. I had suggested to the husband beforehand that we could use the dining vouchers that we acquired from the Standard Chartered event. I mean, he was already spending a bomb on the staycation, so it’s my duty to be a thoughtful and understanding wife right? Your money is my money and my money is my money, dearest hubby. *Ahem.. Cough cough..*

_MG_6941

Anyway, Senso was also a perfect location given that it was situated fairly near Wanderlust Hotel. When we arrived, we checked with the staff if there were any terms and conditions if we wanted to utilize our vouchers. There was no minimum spending whatsoever and we could order what we wanted. Awesome! She suggested dining at the courtyard as it would be romantic for the sun was about to set. Not that we could see sunset, but the transition of the skies was actually quite lovely!

_MG_6958

Hubby Chewy eating breadsticks. Like a boss! 😛

_MG_6949

We had a glass of white wine each to celebration the occasion. Hehehe. 😛

_MG_6954

Amuse Bouche. Oops I can’t remember what this was.

_MG_6957

The photo above depicts half a serving of the Swordfish Carpaccio ($30) because they very kindly split it up for us upon knowing that we wanted to share this starter. The swordfish carpaccio proved to be too fishy for misterchewy but I didn’t think that way. The thinly sliced summer black truffles lent a subtle earthy flavor and I quite liked this dish. It’s surprising how our taste buds can sometimes be very similar, yet different.

_MG_6964

We didn’t exactly order a lot to share because we weren’t exactly very hungry. The husband went for the Spaghetti Pasta with Sea Urchin, Red Shallots Comfit and Italian Herbs ($38). The sea urchin had a sea saltish taste and a melt-in-the-mouth texture.

_MG_6969

After trying both mains, I’m very sure that I prefer the Carnaroli Risotto with Saffron, pan-roasted Duck Liver and home-marinated Port Wine Cherries ($36). The foie gras was extremely well-executed but I did not really like the addition of port wine cherries.

_MG_6978

We will be back to try some of the other dishes on the menu. Service was excellent which made our dining experience a lovely one.

Wanderlust Hotel Singapore Staycation Blog Review

Staycation @ Wanderlust Hotel

Happy birthday to me! Over the weekend, my dear misterchewy planned a birthday surprise and he checked us into Wanderlust Hotel which was conceptualized by Singaporean boutique hotelier Loh Lik Peng. I really have to admit that after our staycations at Porcelain Hotel and Oasia Hotel, we are indeed hooked on to this whole staycation idea in Singapore! Additionally, it’s extremely fun to explore certain parts of Singapore that you are not familiar with. We cabbed around most of the time 🙂

_MG_6782

Since the standard check-in time was at 2pm, we had a simple and light lunch at Plaza Singapura’s Itacho.

Wanderlust Hotel is located in Little India, more specifically along Dickson Road and it’s quite near Sim Lim Square. It is a boutique hotel which draws people like misterchewy and myself, who want a totally new and refreshing experience from their hotel stay. There are four thematic levels of 29 rooms. We stayed in a Whimsical room on level 4 and we strongly recommend this for a fantasy-filled experience! 🙂 There are five varying themes, ‘Bling’ , ‘ASCII’, ‘Space’, ‘Tree’ and ‘Typewriter’.

_MG_6799

Very cool-looking lobby!

_MG_6801

Heart Chair

Took a couple of shots while waiting for the front desk personnel to be done with our paperwork.

_MG_6982

Ohh, Cocoette is just beside the lift!

_MG_6861

*GASP* It seemed like misterchewy had planned a bigger surprise for his wifey 😛

_MG_6830

Later on (after much grilling), I found out that the hotel had earlier promised a birthday cake but when misterchewy emailed to confirm two days before we checked in, they could only provide a birthday cookie instead. Lol. The room decorations cost him quite a bit.

_MG_6826

_MG_6832

Philips iPhone/iPod docking station and Nespresso Essenza coffee making machine in our room. Getting more common these days?

_MG_6849

Yuppp! Our room is a two-storey room! There’s a staircase like OMGEE. As mentioned earlier, we stayed in a Whimsical room on level 4. These rooms are about 20-32sqm. Our room is a Space themed one! It’s super nice and super romantic~~~! 😀 😀 😀

_MG_6852

_MG_6855

_MG_6845

The stairs are a little narrow though! Plus the room is dark at night so you really gotta watch your step. Parents with young tots have to keep a close watch ya? 🙂

_MG_7028

_MG_6816

I can’t stop emphasizing how r-o-m-a-n-t-i-c the Space themed room is! There are even ‘twinkling stars’ in our room! 😀

_MG_7003

The Sealy Posturepedic queen sized bed is up on the second floor.

_MG_6834

_MG_6841

_MG_7036

_MG_7004

There’s a red hot rocket in our room!

_MG_7008

_MG_7009

We spent quite a bit of time camwhoring in our room before moving off to our next destination which is at Hougang! We took a cab down and reached in about 15 minutes.

_MG_6908

I thought I should be nice and give misterchewy a little break from too much planning so I signed both of us up for a Terrarium Workshop the day before our staycation. I know it’s very last minute arrangement but it was a perfect decision! I reckon it’s a very unique couple bonding and dating activity, so I will definitely be sharing more on this in a separate blog post 🙂

_MG_6914

Since we had a couple of hours to kill before dinner, we decided to loiter around the area so that we didn’t have to travel too much. Dinner would be at Chinatown 🙂

_MG_6922

And yeah, what other dating activities are there besides eating, shopping and watching movies?! We headed to K Ki and shared two slices of cakes! 😀 It was misterchewy’s first visit and he loved the souffle cheescake 🙂 The chocolate cake was good too!

_MG_6926

I’m back here again after two years 😀 The owner, Delphine, told us that her baby girl is 15 months old now!

_MG_6939

Did more walking up and down Ann Siang Hill to burn off the extra calories. Hahaha!

_MG_6978

Lovely dinner at Senso Ristorante & Bar along Club Street. There will be a separate post for this too!

_MG_6980

_MG_6985

Before returning to our room, we went to level 2 to check out the jacuzzi. Look look see see only because we didn’t bring swimwear.

_MG_6996

A quick look at the standard bath amenities before we took our bubble bath.

_MG_7138

Rain shower. The bath amenities provided are from Kiehl’s. The hubby liked the fragrance from the Kiehl’s shampoo and shower gel so maybe it’s time for me to pamper him huh? Haha. And nope, we are not showing pics of us enjoying our bubble bath this time 😛

_MG_6990

Wheeeeeee~ Making sure that our terrariums are doing ok before we go to bed.

_MG_7144

The view of the room at night and in the morning is actually similar since the curtains are drawn shut. So, we fell asleep to a night sky full of stars and woke up seeing stars. A very very lovely experience I would say! :))

_MG_7163

The next morning, we went down to Cocotte on level 1 for breakfast. Room rates are inclusive of semi-buffet breakfast over here.

Birthday lunch @ Pollen

This is a photo collage done by misterchewy on his iPad, using the photos he posted on Instagram 🙂 And yes, he treated me to lunch at the renowned Pollen at Gardens by the Bay! Will share more about Pollen and Flower Dome in another post! 😀 😀 😀

Some sneak peeks at the photos we took at Flower Dome! Hehehe.

Posted this on our Facebook page last night! This uncle totally photobomb us man..

Happy Two Year Anniversary, misterchewy! :)

2nd Year Anniversary Photo Collage

Isn’t it amazing how a person who was once just a stranger, suddenly meant the world to you?

26th July 2012
Dearest sweetheart, we turn two today. It may sound cliché but it really feels like I have known you forever. Thank you for tolerating my nonsense and most importantly, thank you for always being there. You provide a listening ear whenever I needed one and you are a wonderful confidant.

Every moment spent with you becomes a piece of precious memory because I treasure every moment with you.

Forever Love, Forever Love. 我只想用我这一辈子去爱你.

Happy Two Year Anniversary, my dearest sweetheart! <3

The Chewys’ Sweet Date @ Fullhouse Singapore Theme Cafe!

Fullhouse Cafe

Wow! What can I say? Both misterchewy and I are equally excited about relating our very first theme restaurant dining experience at Fullhouse Singapore Lifestyle Store and Cafe! With its grand opening that occurred as recent as mid April, Fullhouse is Singapore’s latest theme restaurant that has attracted many locals and created quite a buzz at the same time! 😀

_MG_3868

There were a couple of occasions when we would skip down the streets of Orchard Road hand in hand and pass by this colorful restaurant but we never went in because we already have other plans.

_MG_3810

Just a couple of days ago, after watching The Avengers in 3D at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard, it was time for dinner and we were thinking.. Should we? Yes we should! So dinner at Fullhouse it was! 🙂

_MG_3840

_MG_3800

When I first heard of the name “Fullhouse”, popular Korean drama starring Rain and Song Hye Kyo immediately came to mind! As you will see in the many pictures to come, Fullhouse is designed to look like a house! Duh, yes I know but this one’s totally awesome! Let me bring you on a mini tour. You’ll see! 😛

Daddy Thomas, Mummy Tracy, children Tiffani and Tony, as well as pet dog Toy make up the Fullhouse family! If you’re serious about this, you should grab one of these maps at the counter! 😉

_MG_3843

Tadah! We have the very cosy and spacious Living Room! I love the colorful family portraits that are hung up on the wall. Ok la, I love everything about this ‘living room’, in particular the warm feeling that it brings! 😀

_MG_3764

_MG_3766

_MG_3845

_MG_3769

_MG_3813

_MG_3816

Keen to see how the Master Bedroom looks like? I reckon it’s every girl’s dream come true! The bedroom is a walk in wardrobe, and so much more!

_MG_3817

Psst.. Most of the items in the bedroom are for sale! You can even try the clothes on in the fitting room 🙂

_MG_3815

Are you Goldilocks? If you’re not, then you better don’t be like the three naughty bears and anyhow sleep on people’s bed ah! LOL.

_MG_3824

Wheeeee! Now this, ladies and gentlemen, is the Balcony! I must say that this is very lovely! Well, the green ‘grass’ can only make me think of playing golf. LOL.

_MG_3842

Actually, there are Entertainment Room and Study Rooms which we did not manage to cover in this post because those rooms are meant for events and private dining. There was a birthday celebrating going on in one of the rooms so I suppose this place is pretty well sought after!

_MG_3799

Ok let’s get back to our dinner!

_MG_3781

We ordered an appetizer, the Salmon Salad ($16.90) to share. On the plate was three thick slices of smoked salmon with sliced fresh mango and salad. The salmon slices were very firm and fleshy and I really liked the intensive smoked taste. Hubby Chewy let me have two slices but two were never enough 😛 He doesn’t usually eat mangoes but he ate most of it anyway. It was more sweet than sourish so I guess that was the reason 🙂

_MG_3777

_MG_3796

I wanted something sweet, yet ummm healthy at the same time so I chose the Korean Jujube Tea ($3.90). It’s essentially sweetened tea syrup containing jujube fruits or red dates. There were some red dates peelings which I was able to chew on at the bottom of my glass. Quite a sweet and refreshing drink that I would recommend 🙂

_MG_3785

Fullhouse’s menu is quite extensive and I went “I want this.. No wait I think I want this..” before finally deciding on the Pan Sear Dory Fish ($16.90). It wasn’t such a bad choice except that the sight of siew pak choy (xiao bai cai) totally put me off. I love my greens but this is the only vegetable that I detest. However, I gamely finished the two fat pieces of siew pak choy because I don’t like to waste food. Apart from that, the fish was above my expectations. I would say that the lemongrass cream was fantastic and enhanced the taste and texture of the fish.

_MG_3775

_MG_3793

Hubby Chewy also has a sweet tooth just like me, which is why we fell for each other. Because we are incredibly sweet! LOL kidding! Ok la which is why he ordered the Honeydew Milkshake ($7.90). He liked it a lot but honestly, I think it’s like a more atas version of a bubble tea.

_MG_3791

The husband had the Wasabi Fish and Wedges ($16.90). He claimed that the deep fried fish fillet was pretty tasteless and the wasabi dip salvaged things a little, although it did not provide much of a kick.

_MG_3805

While we were sipping our drinks, I took a closer look at the menu.

_MG_3806

There’s a comic section on the last few pages. Really cool stuff! I guess it’s a way for to keep diners entertained while waiting for their food to be served.

_MG_3827

_MG_3849

_MG_3858

This vintage Aston Martin Mini Cooper Classic is parked at the Car Porch and no visit to Fullhouse is complete without having your photos taken with this colorful baby! 🙂

_MG_3859

_MG_3867

_MG_3855

Hubby Chewy and I would certainly recommend Fullhouse Lifestyle Store and Cafe to all dating, courting and married couples! Of course, it’s also great for girly meetups! Enjoy your sweet date and take lotsa photos! <3

Our 20th Monthsary at Smok’inn Frogz Kitchen

IMG_0921

“It feels so great to have you in my life. Looking forward to spending our lives together, forever! <3”

IMG_0919

Hello! It’s been a long time since I have written a post on missuschewy.com. Today, on our 20th monthsary, I have decided to hit the keyboard again for this very special day of the month. Since 26th July 2010, 26 has been a number that is close to my heart and it will always be.

IMG_0944

As usual, I went to pick up the missus from work and dinner was amongst our plans. The golden question was unanimously: “where?” I was feeling adventurous and suggested to go to 6th Avenue without even checking what food was available there. Thankfully, HGW is a reliable food-searching network which we could leverage on to find our dinner place. Eventually we settled on Smok’inn Frogz Kitchen.

IMG_0918

Initially, we could not find the place until we realised that it is sharing the same address as Bar Bar Black Sheep. There were lots of reviews online, raving about its beef burgers and beer-battered fish and chips. We both knew that we could not leave the place without trying the latter.

IMG_0938

Love is self-sacrificing. Because of my religion practice, the wifey was “forced” to give up eating beef and I am really thankful to her. <3

IMG_0942

Always the beautiful goddess of my heart! :3

IMG_0928

IMG_0931

Actually the wifey ordered Root Beer ($2) because she saw the table next to us drinking it. Haha!

IMG_0934

IMG_0940

And so, our routine ritual before the meal starts before we tuck in: to take photos of our food. We both had the fish and chips as the menu was rather limited after filtering the beef dishes. Btw, all photos in this post were taken using my Canon Digital IXUS.

IMG_0939

The Beer Battered Fish N Chips ($13) was served pipping hot with a crispy flour batter. There was no hint of beer taste but it was fragrant and the fish was melt-in-your-mouth. We did not have any complaints with the dish.

IMG_0941

The Choco Lava Cake looks very tempting on the menu but our stomach is not big enough to accommodate it so we had to give the dessert a miss.

IMG_0943

This is one of our spontaneous dinner dates and I must say we both enjoyed it. Looking forward to more Monthsaries and spending more time lovin you! Happy 20th Monthsary again my dear, and I will always love you and you and youuuuu! <3

Goodbye 2011! Hello 2012! :D

_MG_9803-1

Now that it’s the second day of 2012, I hope 1st Jan had been a good start for all of you! 2011 has been a very good and exciting year for misterchewy and myself. These were the most memorable happenings from the beginning of the year all the way till the end. I suppose the second half of the year was more interesting! 😛

Valentine's Day 2011

14 February 2011 – We celebrated Valentine’s Day with each other for the very first time! Had dinner at Orchard Central’s Sarang, which is a Korean restaurant. The then-boyfriend got me a bouquet of bears! <3

DSC00403com

20 to 22 May 2011 – Hit the sand and the sea at Redang with misterchewy and his NTU friends! The sun seemed to be on shift, so we didnt get much of a tan. Haha! Really fun because it was our first time snorkelling together! 😀

IMG_0001

28 May 2011 – I thought we should engage in other activities other than just eating so we signed up for the Sundown Half-Marathon! Heh.. I guess we have to admit that we are getting old! BUT.. We have plans to sign up for other races this year! 🙂

taiwan

11 to 18 June 2011 – Joined misterchewy and his parents on a one-week trip to Taiwan! Whoa ho! We ate and ate and ate and shopped and shopped and shopped! The only thing I disliked was the extremely hot weather and scorching sun. Apart from that, it was a good break away from work to spend time together with misterchewy 🙂

Milk - 21

25 June 2011 – If you have not read about the surprise proposal that misterchewy came up with, with the help of his friends, you can read all about it here. I will always reminisce this day for the rest of my life. The day that I cried buckets because I was really touched by what he had come up with. :’)

The Surprise Proposal from CHEW ZHI HAO on Vimeo.

I could watch this video a thousand times and never get sick of it 😛 Will definitely show it to my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren! Hehe!

IMG_8882

26 June 2011 – This day also happened to be our 11th monthsary, which was one day after the proposal. Best way to remember it? Take engagement shots! 😛

2010 vs 2011

26 July 2011 – Exactly a month later, we celebrated our First Year Anniversary. Went back to Raindrops Cafe where we first became officially together. I suggested we should wear the same thing, go back to the same place and pose the same way for our photo! 😛 Just for the fun of it and for comparision sake!

282741_10150716238890724_720300723_19892735_5549325_n

27 July 2011 – Yay! The boy graduated from NTU with a Second Upper Class Honours in Chemical Engineering! He’s currently working in a reputable MNC and can take care of my expenses. LOL! Kidding about the second part 😛

_MG_3249ed

31 July 2011 – My birthday fell on a Saturday and misterchewy took me to OChre for lunch! Loved the bling bling red fossil watch that he got me 😀

ZXW_1477

9 September 2011 – This is a very special day for us as it is misterchewy’s birthday and also the day of our solemnization! It was held at Grand Copthorne Waterfront. Interestingly, our post on spending our first night as husband and wife at the hotel rendered the most number of blog hits!

_MG_8286

27 to 29 November 2011 – We went on a short and impromptu mini honeymoon to Cameron Highlands. It was very enjoyable! 😀

_MG_0007

25 December 2011 – Definitely a very different feeling altogether when you know that it is your first time spending Christmas together as husband and wife. It was also our first time watching a musical together! Well, there’s always a first for everything. Besides, we have been together for about 1 and a half years only 😛

IMG_0880

31 December 2011 – Kissing 2011 goodbye! Haha! We were all ready to welcome 2012 at Clake Quay! Had some drinks at Rebel before the countdown began. Yeah can’t believe we chose beer over fireworks but we managed to catch a glimpse outside Liang Court.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family, friends and readers for the support that they have given to this blog. May 2012 be filled with good eats, love, wealth and good health for all of you! 😀

The Chewy’s Mini Honeymoon at Cameron Highlands!

Mini Honeymoon at Cameron Highlands

The husband and I tied the knot on 9 September this year but due to our conflicting work commitment, it was really difficult for us to plan a honeymoon trip. As ironic as it may sound, it was also due to work that forced us to book a short trip to Cameron Highlands in late November! We booked our package on Thursday, packed our bags on Friday and left on Saturday! Talk about last minute travel! We had Shanghai, Hong Kong and even Japan in mind but we finally settled for Cameron Highlands because we figured that it would be impossible for us to plan a proper itinerary within such a short time frame. Cameron Highlands is very small and besides, it was the very first place that we shortlisted for our maiden trip together last year. Dropped the idea back then after gathering feedback that it’s a boring place. Hey, totally not true! We had sooooo much fun in Cameron Highlands! 😀 I call it a mini honeymoon because it was a short 3D2N stay and we did not even travel by air. However, at the end of this trip, we have come to realize that we didn’t have to spend a bomb on an extravagant honeymoon in order to be able to enjoy ourselves. Really, it’s the company that matters the most! 🙂

26th coach

This is our fourth time travelling together and we would always wear our Donald Duck couple shirts that misterchewy bought from Tokyo Disneyland on the day of setting off! Easy to identify each other if we ever get lost.. Haha! Ok here’s a brief overview. We kinda celebrated our first monthsary at Malacca. Our second trip together was to Redang with misterchewy’s bunch of fydp friends! And then I joined misterchewy and his family on a trip to Taiwan! Haven finish uploading the photos onto Facebook >_< Ok anyway, we departed Singapore on the day of our 16th monthsary! Had a simple Thai dinner at Golden Mile Complex before boarding the coach at 10pm. Seats were very spacious and we watched a movie before concussing throughout the rest of the journey! We slept like two logs for the next 7 to 8 hours and amazingly, we could hold our bladder for that long too. LOL. We reached Brinchang slightly before 7am and were told to find ourselves some breakfast. Food was cheap and good!

_MG_8211

We transferred to a smaller shuttle bus before being driven up to Strawberry Park Resort. Since it was hours away before we could check into our room at about 4pm, we deposited our bags at the lobby and I changed into a pair of jeans while waiting for the tour guide to pick us up. Nice mini waterfall at the resort!

_MG_8524

The resort looks beautiful from the outside and we couldn’t wait to check out our room! Some people actually drove up to Cameron Highlands and most of them were from other parts of Malaysia.

flowers

Beautiful flowers can be found everywhere around the resort! We were busy snapping photos and the tour guide finally picked us up at 10.15am when they were supposed to reach about 15 minutes before. Claimed that there was a huge jam outside.

_MG_8242

True enough, there was a major traffic jam as we were there during the school holidays. A route that would normally take only 15 minutes could take as long as 3 hours now! Scary! Anyway we reached Sungei Palas ‘BOH’ Tea Centre at 11.25am. The tour guide told us to go for the factory tour, look around the gift shop and sit down for some tea and then look for him again at 11.40am. 15 minutes to do all that?! Impossible! Turned out that he went to pick his other customers from the other resorts nearby and dropped them off at the tea centre. We were the last. In other words, the rest in our tour group had about an hour I didnt think it was very fair to us so we just took our own sweet time taking photos and enjoying our food at the cafe. LOL.

BOH Tea Plantation

The view of the tea plantation from the cafe was breathtaking. Ok la actually I was feeling extremely pissed about the tour guide’s arrangement and when I saw how long the queue at the cafe was, my eyes rolled to the skies. And to make matters worse, the husband got me a blueberry scone when I thought he would be smart enough to get a strawberry cake or strawberry something for me. The first thing he said when he got to the table, “Eh sorry leh I wanted to get the strawberry cake but don’t know why I got you the blueberry scone instead.” -_- Major sigh.

_MG_8286

We gave up the factory tour because makan and take photos more important laaaah! Hahaha! 😛

mossy forest traile day

Second tour of the day was a short trek into the mossy forest where the wonders of nature awaits us. We came across a variety of pitcher plants of different shapes and sizes, beautiful wild orchids and herbal plants such as the famous ‘Kacip Fatimah’.

mossy forest trail2

Little did we know that we the mossy forest is also extremely muddy and yucky. The mud was like quicksand! I was the only one wearing slippers and mud splattered everywhere each time I lifted my feet. It was just too gross and I was thinking that we seriously need to turn back. Therefore, we barely managed 10 metres but it was a wise move! The others came back all dirty and had to rinse their shoes as seen in the above collage. Basically we were just camwhoring while waiting for them.

Tea Plantation Trek

The tour guide told us that we had more climbing to do at the next stop! I was contemplating if I should take off my slippers but I’m glad I had them on. Some parts of the tea plantation are quite steep and also very slippery as it had drizzled earlier on.

IMG_8339

After climbing for 10 minutes, we spent only 1 minute taking photos at the vantage point of the tea plantation because the rain got heavier! Sad. Anyway, it is also called the ‘Giant Green Carpet of Malaysia’.

IMG_8344

Look at the dark clouds! Nevertheless, we were rewarded with the spectacular sight of the rolling green hills. If climbing uphill was difficult, going downhill was a bitch. I slided a bit every now and then and each time, I would let out a piercing scream. Sorry I cant help it! The daredevils who skipped their way down were giggling at me, I know. 🙁

IMG_8351

Yup and this is the souvenir we got from the tea plantation. LOL!

_MG_8355

The tour ended at around 4.30pm which also meant that we could check into our room instantly. I love our spacious studio room and the parquet flooring! Definitely gonna have it at least in our bedroom for our future house! 😀

in resort

We wanted to shop around at Brinchang but it’s really impossible to walk out from Strawberry Park Resort and so, we asked the reception to arrange for a cab. Camwhored in the room while waiting! Hahaha. I think the cab took about 40 minutes to get in because of the jam. Sigh.

_MG_8392

The cab looks very cute right?! In baby blue somemore! One of my favorite colors!

Strawberry Moment

Hehe we cabbed to Strawberry Moment Dessert Cafe! Besides the strawberry strudel and strawberry mousse, we also had strawberry milkshake. I personally found the desserts mediocre. Haha there’s free wi-fi. We walked over to Brinchang night market, which was open even in the day because of the school holidays. I think I got a couple of magnets and we then we cabbed back to the resort.

_MG_8467

Apart from breakfast, our two-night stay also came with steamboat dinner! Nice!

beer

I packed along my strawberry face masks which I bought in Taiwan. Actually I have many others like macaron, chocolate truffle, etc but of course must bring strawberry one right?! We are at Cameron Highlands after all! Hahaha. Yeah we forgot to buy beer when we were at Brinchang town and misterchewy suggested getting a bottle of Budweiser each from the hotel. 2 bottles cost a whopping 56RM after taxes! Haha we had a really good night’s sleep after drinking! 😛

breakfast at JTT

Even though our tour on the second day of our trip was scheduled to start at 2.30pm, we dragged ourselves up because the buffet breakfast at the resort’s Jim Thompson Terrace ends at 10am! The spread was quite good! We had nasi lemak, omelette, roti prata, etc.

around resort

Since we had more than 2 hours to kill, we kinda explored the entire resort!

around resort2

Strawberry Park Resort is quite a nice place actually! There’s a lovely garden too!

open terrace farming

Day Two’s tour wasn’t as exciting as the previous day’s but we weren’t complaining! We enjoyed getting close to the broccoli, corn, strawberries and other crops at the open terrace farm! Hahaha. Tried the corn and it was really sweet!

us at open terrace farm

Somehow, the farm reminded me of this game called Harvest Moon that I used to play! 😛

Next up was the cactus farm, just a few minute’s ride from the previous destination.

Cactus farm

I thought that the cactus farm would be pretty boring but it turned out to be alright! We saw cactuses of all shapes, sizes and colors. The tour guide told us that there were 3000 types.

us at cactus farm

Mouth itchy, so we bought cup corn and sweet potato balls to munch on while marvelling at the cactuses. Hehe!

strawberry farm

Strawberry farm! This is what I had been waiting for! LOL. Couldnt wait to pick all the strawberries in sight! The tour guide told us that coconut fibre is used to grow the strawberry plants as it does not contain any bacteria.

us at strawberry farm

Also, he took a good look at all the (young) couples and told us that strawberries are a symbol of love. LOL. Cuz strawberries are red, looks kinda like a heart shape, and are sweet and sour just like how relationships should be!

Organic farm

Guess what is being used as fertilizer for these veggies at the organic farm? Volcanic soil. Plenty of nutrients! Somehow they managed to find out that these flies are attracted to the color yellow and by pasting yellow stickers around, there isn’t a need for pesticide.

tea time

Even though we were going to have dinner in like less than two hours, I decided to try the scones with strawberry jam at the organic farm. The husband went for a cup of hot strawberry chocolate. Heavenly!

Flower Nursery

The flower nursery was another few kilometres away. These flowers will come in time for Christmas and Chinese New Year! They smell lovely too!

night market

Sumptuous steamboat dinner as part of the tour package! I guess that area that we were seated at can be considered alfresco dining. Haha. Eating steamboat in a nice cool weather is bliss! Decided to shop around the Brinchang Night Market before heading back to the resort. Couldn’t believe that the husband when he said he wanted to tabao nasi ayam back! Since it was our last chance at ‘shopping’, I bought all the cute strawberry items in sight. Hahaha!

last day at Cameron

Although our mini honeymoon trip was a very impromptu and short one, we really enjoyed ourselves to the max! It was nice snuggling up close to each other in Cameron Highland’s cool weather too! 😛 Lastly, I would like to thank misterchewy once again for sponsoring my travel, accommodation and all other expenses for this trip. *Muacks* :333 P.S: I’m never gonna look at strawberries the same way again!

ROM Parties at HomeTeamNS Pasir Ris Chalet (10th September 2011) & Symphony Heights (24th September 2011)

_MG_4647-horz

The day after our solemnization at Grand Copthorne Waterfront, misterchewy and I headed straight for HomeTeamNS Pasir Ris Chalet the instant we checked out of the hotel. Our guests for that evening were mostly misterchewy’s relatives. I shall let the photos do the talking!

Yeah and I think I was trying to catch her attention with my manicured nails! 😛

_MG_4963

My nails were done by Krist Goh! You can check out her website for more info. Yes I know that there are probably a thousand and one manicurists out there. Celes recommended Krist to me and you know how powerful word-of-mouth marketing is. Krist previously did bridal nails for me and I was really satisfied!

Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant: Feast During Oktoberfest!

Brotzeit

Now that September is drawing to an end, we all need to give ourselves a little pat on the back for working so hard. It’s time to feast like kings and queens during Oktoberfest and recharge for the last quarter of 2011! In fact, just a few days ago at Vivocity, the husband and I were in need of an Ultimate Food Therapy and we both agreed on dinner at Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant. We celebrated yet another monthsary that day since it was a 26th. So many things to celebrate.. Monthsary, anniversary, wedding anniversary, etc. LOL. Actually Hubs was being pulled into Brotzeit simply by the “Happy Hour 5pm – Closing” sign at the entrance. Yup anyway, Brotzeit Oktoberfest is happening from 6 to 9 October this year! So raise your glass if you’re wrong in all the right ways! 😛

_MG_5554

        Original Münchner (0.5 litre)

Before deciding on anything else, misterchewy already has his eyes on the Original Münchner lager which came in a cute Oktoberfest beer mug! Splendidly subtle and light, great after a long hard day at work. I likeeeeee! Couldn’t help but wonder if the mugs are for sale 😛

_MG_5564

I loveeeeee guys who drink! Ok.. Correction: I love THIS guy who drink! :PPP

_MG_5565

No no.. I pose with the beer only.. LOLOL.

_MG_5563_

    Wurstelplatte/Sausage Platter (for 2 pax) ($32.50)

Brotzeit’s menu is very extensive but we didn’t really wanna eat salads, pizzas and other stuff when we are right here at a German restaurant. There’s nothing more authentic than an authentic sausage platter with a variety of German sausages! Forget the hot dogs and chicken franks when you can gorge yourself silly with spicy chicken sausages, Nurnberger sausages, pork cheese sausages, Weisswurst and garlic pork sausages! Big, fat, juicy, satisfying! I love my sausages with mustard. The saltiness does build up slowly towards the end, so have a glass of water ready.

_MG_5556

            Schweinshaxn/Pork Knuckle ($36)

Typical Singaporean mentality when you see the words “While stocks last!” So yeah, the German pork knuckle is an absolute must order item! Brotzeit uses the hind shank of grain fed pork which tastes very meaty, plus it’s lean and tender. Although it’s not as crispy as the one we had at Paulaner Brauhaus, the skin was thin and definitely a delight to chew on. I love the mashed potato which came together with the pork knuckle. It’s very creamy and has a slight sourish taste. The portion of the pork knuckle is ideal for sharing among a group of 4 to 5 people. We had to pack home our leftovers. Hey, we should not let good food go to waste right? 😛
