IMG_3184

Hello everyone! We just got back from our Sabah FAM trip and can’t wait to share our itinerary with you! It was our first time flying with AirAsia as a family and the experience was nothing short of amazing! 🙂

Untitled

AirAsia is currently having a promo for flights from Singapore to Kota Kinabalu starting from SGD68 one way, travel period from now till 31 Jan 2019! Promo ends on 15 July 2018. Terms and conditions apply.

Untitled

All ready to check in our luggage at Terminal 4!

Untitled

We had some time to explore T4 before boarding our evening flight.

Untitled

As parents with young children, we highly recommend getting the Hot Seats, which enables you to have priority boarding. It’s always good to have enough time to settle down in your seats before the plane takes off!

Untitled

With my naughty little partner who got a window seat 😀

Untitled

Lovebirds sitting behind us lol.

Untitled

Comfortably settled in her seat.

Untitled

As soon as the plane took off, we were treated to a beautiful view.

Untitled

We were pleasantly surprised that the seats are actually pretty spacious! Look at the girls sharing a seat. Mini misschewy even had space to kiao kah 😛

Untitled

Hungry liao cuz it was dinner time! Do you know that you can prebook your meals? Besides getting your meals sorted out before your trip, you can also get some savings out of it simply via “Manage My Booking” on airasia.com. I was totally looking forward to my Nasi Kandar with Chicken Varuval which is a new addition to AirAsia’s inflight menu. Mixed everything up and gobbled down my food! Very sedap!

Untitled

The Spiral Pasta with Chicken Sausage is another new item and it is suitable for kids as it does not contain any spice or chilli. Little misschewy had this as she likes pasta.

Untitled

Emperor Fried Rice for misterchewy.

Untitled

Chicken Lasagne for Mini misschewy.

Untitled

All eager to tuck in!

Untitled

On our flight back to Singapore, we had some yummy and filling light bites such as Salmon Ebiko Onigiri + Miso Soup (On Board Combo), Vietnamese Chicken Wrap + Tea/Coffee (On Board Combo), T&Co Salted Peanuts, Assorted Sandwiches, Chocolate Brownie, Mum’s Butter Cake and Mineral Water. I liked both the onigiri and vietnamese chicken wrap!

Untitled

Little misschewy loved the sandwiches!

Untitled

Before we end off this post, we would like to thank Christina (not in photo) and Amzar from AirAsia for coordinating and taking care of us throughout this trip.

Teddy Bear Museum Pattaya

Untitled

Contrary to popular belief, there are actually plenty of children-friendly activities in Pattaya. As our flight back was scheduled in the late evening, we managed to squeeze in a trip to Teddy Bear Museum Pattaya in the morning. I had been to the one in Korea many years back and loved it so much because I really have a soft spot for all things cute!

Untitled

The girls like to cuddle teddy bears too so I knew I had to include Teddy Bear Museum Pattaya in our itinerary!

Untitled

Untitled

This is the first and only museum in Southeast Asia which is located on an area over 2,500 square meters and is divided into 12 zones as follows: Inca Zone, Dinosaur Zone, Fossil Zone, Africa Zone, Thailand Zone, Under the Sea Zone, Eskimo Zone, Santa Town Zone, Space Zone, Fairytale Zone, China Zone and Europe Zone. Shall leave you to enjoy the photos!

Khao Kheow Open Zoo Pattaya

Untitled

On the third day of our Pattaya trip, we visited Khao Kheow Open Zoo! We love going to the zoo to see all the different animals but what sets Khao Kheow Open Zoo apart from the rest, is that some animals are free to roam about! The kids were thrilled when they saw these deer out in the open and were brave enough to walk up to them!

Untitled

Visitors can buy some grass to feed the deer. However, they were only a handful of hungry ones while the rest seemed uninterested.

Untitled

You can pat and stroke the deer.

After this monkey was done eating, it scurried off and Chanelle chased after it. We got a shock and didn’t have enough time to react when the monkey turned around and chased Chanelle back! Good thing it ran away after snarling at her. Phew!

Mini Siam Pattaya

Untitled

After visiting The Sanctuary of Truth on the second day of our Pattaya trip, it started to pour while we were in the taxi and so, we had to seek shelter from a nearby McDonald’s. Just nice it was lunch, so we took our time to enjoy our food while patiently waiting for the rain to stop. We then made our way to Mini Siam! I had planned The Sanctuary of Truth and Mini Siam on the same day as these two are located within close proximity, just a 10-minute drive by car.

Untitled

Mini Siam is a very interesting place as you will get to see miniature landmarks from around the world! There weren’t many people when we visited and I’m so glad that we brought our tripod along to capture some family shots.

Untitled

There are also some cute elements that you can find at Mini Siam. Nobody wants to be the 7th dwarf! LOL.

Untitled

Hahaha are these imitation Hello Kitty and Doraemon?! Nevertheless, the girls were thrilled to see them. Actually me too!

Untitled

Don’t they look like they own this house?

Untitled

Marvel heroes in disguise. The kids were chasing after each other in the background when we were taking these photos.

Untitled

OMG this reminds me of our Japan trip in 2016! We had visited the Fujiko.F.Fujio Museum (also known as Doraemon Museum) back then.

Untitled

The girls were super tickled to see these tiny zebras and idk what are those two black things. Hippos or sheep i cant tell?

Untitled

Untitled

I couldn’t believe it but they were doing some kinda slow dance, maybe cha cha or tango lol.

The Sanctuary of Truth Pattaya

Untitled

We visited two places on the second day of our Pattaya trip and The Sanctuary of Truth was one of them. Walked quite a distance from our Homeaway accommodation to this cafe called Good Farmer Homemade for breakfast as misterchewy found many positive online reviews.

Untitled

We actually felt that the food was mediocre and slightly on the pricier side by Thailand standards. It was a good experience nevertheless. From Good Farmer Homemade, we took a Grab taxi to The Sanctuary of Truth. Journey was about 20 minutes or so.

Untitled

When we reached, we were above ground level and could not see the entire wooden architecture as it was partially blocked from view. We had to descend a long flight of steps. Ladies are reminded to dress appropriately as a means of respect. Due to hot weather, I wore shorts and had to rent a piece of cloth to be wrapped around my legs before I could enter the grounds.

Untitled

Mandatory shot with the signage.

Untitled

Our first agenda at The Sanctuary of Truth – horse carriage riding!

Untitled

The girls enjoyed the ride and were shrieking in delight, especially when the horse picked up speed. It was a nice experience admiring the magnificent wooden architecture while riding on the horse.

Untitled

There was restoration work being carried out during our visit and all visitors were provided with helmets to put on as a safety precaution.

Untitled

Untitled

The weather was quite hot so we cooled with with some coconut drink and ice cream by the river.

Untitled

Untitled

The boat ride is also another highly recommended activity at The Sanctuary of Truth. The kids were particularly thrilled that we could feed the fishes with coconut flesh!

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

Paid 20 baht (less than SGD $1) for a bunch of grass so that we could feed the two horses before leaving The Sanctuary of Truth. Animal feeding is actually quite therapeutic!

For convenience, I recommend that you book your tickets for The Sanctuary of Truth via Klook. There are a few package options available for you to choose from! You will definitely get to enjoy some cost savings too 🙂

Swiss Sheep Farm Pattaya

Untitled

If you had read my earlier post on our Pattaya trip outline, you would know that we spent our first day at Swiss Sheep Farm Pattaya! I know it sounds crazy that we took a 6am flight out of Singapore but it’s not as though we had not done anything like this before. Haha! We just wanted to make the most out of our short trip!

Untitled

From our Homeaway accommodation at Jomtien area, it took us about 30 minutes to reach Swiss Sheep Farm by car. The beautiful, charming and rustic Swiss-inspired architecture make Swiss Sheep Farm a nice place to visit if you enjoy taking photos. Besides that, there are many animals which you can feed at the farm.

Untitled

The weather wasn’t the most ideal throughout our entire trip and it even rained on our way to the farm. Thankfully, it wasn’t raining when we reached but the skies were quite gloomy.

Untitled

Untitled

I got our tickets via Klook. Definitely very convenient as I simply flashed the voucher (in the form of a QR code) on my mobile phone and we managed to get in without any hiccups.

Untitled

Look at these cute alpacas! All busy munching grass except for one!

Untitled

I swear that I actually thought these goats were statues because there were completely still for a few minutes, until one of them turned its head ever so slightly.

Untitled

The kids were so delighted that we got to see the goats up close but this was only the beginning!

Untitled

Untitled

Little misschewy saw some grass lying around and couldnt resist feeding the goats.

Untitled

Initially, we had thought that these goats were the only animals that we would be feeding and spent quite some time there until one of the workers gestured that there were MORE waiting to be fed. LOL. Look at all these sheep!

Untitled

Little misschewy was really enthusiastic about feeding the animals because when she had finished giving out all the grass, she went round picking more from the ground! The admission ticket comes with a coupon which you can exchange for a handful of grass. Additional animal food such as milk and carrots can be purchased separately at a small fee.

Untitled

This sheep really very garang! It jumped over the fence and sort of chased after us. Little misschewy was really brave and calm, while I ran away screaming like a mad woman, with a bunch of grass in my hand.

Untitled

Isn’t the horse cute? Looked like it was smiling ya?

Untitled

I’m not sure if they rotate the horses for “horse riding duties” lol but this horse was the one and only one at the Horse Station.

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

It was roughly a 10-minute ride and the route includes crossing a bridge before looping back.

Untitled

Untitled

Apart from interacting with the animals, we also had fun taking photos at various spots at the farm! It was a good and bad thing that there weren’t many people at the farm. Good because you get nice photos without any “extras” in the frame, and bad because it’s so hard to find someone to help you with group shots! We only had three family shots! Highly recommend you bring a selfie stick or a tripod.

Untitled

Untitled

There were really many nice spots for photo-taking at Swiss Sheep Farm but the kids started to show signs of fatigue, hence we decided to call it a day. We also stopped by the souvenir shop to get some magnets before leaving!

4D3N Pattaya Trip with Klook Travel

Untitled

Can you guys believe it? We are almost done with the first half of 2018! Fellow mummies and daddies, please give yourselves a pat on the back because you have worked hard and sacrificed for your family. If anything, you totally deserve a break and go on a holiday with your loved ones this summer! Trust me, you don’t have to travel far to have a shiok overseas trip. The Chewys flew to Pattaya for a short 4D3N getaway and we came back fully recharged! Pattaya has always struck me as a beach place with nothing but water sports activities but boy, was I wrong. Even though Pattaya is known as a resort city in Thailand, there are actually plenty of kid-friendly activities that you can plan, which I will cover in this blog post 🙂 It was a total breeze for us as we booked our airport transfers and activities via Klook Travel, Asia’s largest travel services booking platform with over 35000 activities.

PATTAYA DAY ONE

Untitled

Prior to departing Singapore, I received an email with very clear instructions as to where to locate the Klook staff and upon touching down at Suvarnabhumi Airport, we boarded the van without any delays. We also received our data SIM cards from our driver without having to go through the hassle of queuing at the booth. It is especially crucial for us that we reach Pattaya in the shortest possible time since we were travelling with two young children and thankfully, the journey was a smooth one!

Book your airport transfer here.

Untitled

After checking into our accommodation, we took a short break before visiting Swiss Sheep Farm Pattaya. I’m glad we made this our one and only activity for the first day of our trip so that we could take our time to explore the farm.

Untitled

The kids were so excited to see the animals up close too!

Untitled

The cost of the admission ticket also includes food for the animals and Little misschewy just couldn’t get enough of feeding the goat, sheep and horses!

Untitled

Apart from animal feeding, Little misschewy totally digged the horse ride!

Untitled

Book your tickets for Swiss Sheep Farm Pattaya here.

PATTAYA DAY TWO

Untitled

We visited The Sanctuary of Truth, a religious all-wood construction. Apart from appreciating the beauty of the intricate Thai architecture, we were surprised that there were quite a number of activities to make your trip worthwhile.

Untitled

It was the girls’ first time on a horse carriage ride and they were shrieking in excitement. As for me, I enjoyed admiring the beauty of the temple as the horse galloped away.

Untitled

Book your tickets for The Sanctuary of Truth here.

Untitled

In the afteroon, we headed to Pattaya Mini Siam, which is located near The Sanctuary of Truth, hence I planned these two destinations on the same day. The place was relatively empty, much to our surprise. At Mini Siam, you get to experience Thailand and Europe all in one place.

Untitled

Plenty of photo opportunities and I’m glad we brought our tripod along to capture these precious moments! If you enjoy taking photos, be prepared to spend at least two hours there. Book your tickets for Pattaya Mini Siam here.

PATTAYA DAY THREE

Untitled

We decided to take things nice and slow, hence we dedicated one full day to visiting Khao Kheow Open Zoo. It is not called an OPEN ZOO for nothing. Some of the animals are left to roam about rather freely and visitors have the opportunity to interact with them.

Untitled

Khao Kheow Open Zoo certainly feels different from any other zoos, which is a pretty eye-opening experience for us! The zoo is quite big, so it’s highly recommended that you rent a buggy there to minimize exploring on foot, or arrange a private driver to take you around the premises. Book your tickets for Khao Kheow Open Zoo here.

PATTAYA DAY FOUR

Untitled

Before checking out of our accommodation, we managed to squeeze in a visit to Teddy Bear Museum Pattaya, which is a must-visit if you and your children love teddy bears!

Untitled

There are various zones with over 2000 teddy bears! We had so much fun posing for photos with the bears at the museum. Book your tickets for Teddy Bear Museum Pattaya here.

Neo Garden Catering Mother’s Day 2018

A32A6138

We had an early Mother’s Day celebration with my family at my parent’s place last Saturday. Apart from celebrating this occasion in advance, you can also avoid the crowd by organising a cosy and intimate party with Neo Garden Catering in the comfort of your own home. Take your pick as there are three Mother’s Day mini party sets to choose from. Prices are from an affordable $188++/set and can feed up to 10 pax.

A32A6113

This year, we had fun with the D.I.Y Popiah Set (U.P $88), priced at $68 as a Mother’s Day Special. The thin rice flour skin is packed separately from all the other ingredients and condiments such as lettuce, beansprout, stir-fried turnip, chopped hard-boiled eggs, sweet sauce, minced garlic & chili.

A32A6117

Trust me, the portions are really generous! Just for Mother’s Day, you can also add the Cempedak Naked Cake ($38.90) and Mother’s Day Bloom Kit ($38.80) for a more joyous celebration.

A32A6152

We enjoyed wrapping our own popiah as we could add more of the ingredients that we personally like. Hehehe. It was also funny comparing who wrapped a better looking popiah.

A32A6154

A32A6147

It was our first time eating a Cempedak cake and we were totally blown away by how heavenly it tasted! Since there were a few people sharing the cake, each of us only managed to have a slice. You gotta try it for yourself! Purchase any Mother’s Day Mini Party Set and you can get this delicious cake FREE!

A32A6145

Flowers will brighten up anyone’s day and this pretty Bloom Kit is FREE with purchase of Mother’s Day Treat ($238++/set) or Mother’s Day Indulgence ($298++/set)!

Mother’s Day Photoshoot by ChicChug Creations

misschewy_mothersday-4

On Sunday, we went for a Mother’s Day photoshoot with ChicChug Creations, a lifestyle home based studio located along Gangsa Road. The name ChicChug was inspired by a simple old way of making a shutter sound when the older generation improvised a camera shape with their fingers before they said “Chit-Chuck”.

misschewy_mothersday-13

Wayne and Geraldine, photographer husband and wife duo specialise in newborn, baby, maternity, cake smash and family lifestyle photography in Singapore. They place strong emphasis on the importance of storytelling and emotion, capturing the intimate relationships between couples and among family members.

misschewy_mothersday-1

For this Mother’s Day mini photoshoot session, the floral setup is done by Le Fairy Meadow. It is classic and elegant, which is very befitting of a Mother’s Day celebration.

misschewy_mothersday-2

misschewy_mothersday-5

misschewy_mothersday-3

I was initially worried that the girls would be cranky because they did not manage to nap before the shoot. Thankfully, they warmed up really quickly as Geraldine was good with kids and they kept smiling as Wayne fired away on his camera. I’m sure having plenty of professional experience helps too! I have never seen the kids being so cooperative before!

Things to Do in Bangkok with Kids: Recommended 5D4N Itinerary

Untitled

This is our final Bangkok 2018 travelogue, where I provide my 5 days 4 nights itinerary for your reference. I hope this Recommended Bangkok Itinerary for Families Travelling with Kids will come in handy especially if you are travelling with young kids like ours. As parents, we find ourselves asking what are some of the things to do in Bangkok with kids. A fair bit of thought and research went into creating this itinerary from scratch because I wanted to have a good mix of eating, sightseeing and shopping for everyone in our group as we were also travelling with my in laws.

BANGKOK DAY ONE

Untitled

SIN to BKK

Ours was an afternoon flight and we reached BKK at around 3pm ICT. Good timing for us as compared to our 7am flight to Hong Kong last November. LOL.

Untitled

Airport Transfer

Prior our trip, I had arranged for airport transfer from Suvarnabhumi Airport. The large van could accommodate all 7 adults, 2 children and 8 suitcases. There was a very bad jam on the way to our hotel. Journey took more than one hour.

Check out of The Westin Grande Sukhumvit

We got our pocket wifi device from Roaming Man, which offers free delivery and wifi rental starts from just $3 a day. Very affordable and convenient! We were also very impressed by the super long-lasting battery life. It could last the entire day and we only had to charge it overnight for the next’s day usage. Connectivity is also very stable and reliable. Roaming Man wifi device helped us to stay connected throughout our trip, even along our journey to the airport after checking out of the hotel.

Home Sweet Home

Many people have this misconception that Bangkok isn’t kid-friendly, which definitely isn’t true. This was our third time travelling to Bangkok with kids and for each trip, there was still so much to see and do. Hope you find our recommended 5D4N Bangkok itinerary useful if you have always wondered what are the things to do in Bangkok with kids!
