Porcelain Hotel Singapore Staycation Blog Review

The Chewys' First Staycation @ The Porcelain Hotel

Whoohoo! I’m finally blogging about the AWESOME STAYCATION that misterchewy and I had over the long Easter holiday! So what is a ‘Staycation’? Credits to Google: A vacation spent in one’s home country rather than abroad, or one spent at home and involving day trips to local attractions. It was definitely a first for us, and we are not counting our previous stay at Grand Copthorne Waterfront as a staycation because we merely checked in for the night right after our ROM and checked out the very next morning. I somehow realized that there is this ‘staycation trend’ lately, and have always thought that it’s ridiculous to spend money staying in a hotel when you have your own comfortable bed to sleep in. One fine day, I came across The Porcelain Hotel which is a boutique hotel and decided to test out the experience there! Yours truly booked the Queen Executive room for a night and it was also meant to be a surprise for the hubby. I was so excited that I started planning our activities two weeks before! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

_MG_2448

Hehehe our OOTD was matching leopard prints top and jeans! I don’t really like to wear jeans but this time I made an exception. The name necklace was a gift from the hubby during Valentine’s Day! πŸ˜€

_MG_2481

We woke up really early for this. Brunch at Alkaff Mansion! The place is gorgeous! More photos later πŸ˜›

_MG_2439

Our new iPad! Haha the funny thing is, misterchewy had been pestering me endlessly about it. I didn’t see the point in getting one but gave in anyway. Guess what? He paid for it but it’s mine now because Hubby Chewy said that my BB’s keypad is not functioning properly. πŸ˜€ *Soooo touched* And I love what’s engraved on it! πŸ˜‰

_MG_2444

A glass of freshly squeezed orange juice to kickstart the beautiful Saturday morning! πŸ™‚

_MG_2457

Hubby Chewy knew that he wanted the Alkaff Breakfast Set ($14.80) the moment he had his hands on the menu. He’s decisive like that sometimes! πŸ˜›

_MG_2460

_MG_2461

_MG_2473

Hungry boy all ready to tuck in! ^_^

_MG_2477

I can’t remember when was the last time I had pancakes!

_MG_2462

It was an instant pancakes-craving-finally-satisfied moment when I ate the first half of my Banana Hot Cakes ($12.80). Thick, fluffy pancakes drizzled in blueberry sauce with sweet banana slices sandwiched in between, I knew that I did not wake up early that morning in vain. However, my appetite seemed to have shrunk recently and I was struggling to finish the pancakes.

_MG_2488

I had planned another outfit but a couple of days before the staycation, I saw this top on display and stood gaping at it. LOL! I grabbed misterchewy’s arms and went, “OMG! Can totally match your t-shirt!”

_MG_2479

This is really beautiful! I bet it would be nice to sit here and read a book while enjoying the cool breeze.

_MG_2484

The fountain attracted many little kids who happily splashed water with their hands!

_MG_2490

_MG_2494

_MG_2500

This huge rocking chair is way too cute! If only we could have this in our home! πŸ˜›

_MG_2534

Apparently, we couldn’t find anyone to help us take photos and decided to put our camera on self-timer mode.

_MG_2536

_MG_2537

It started to drizzle right after this shot! Talk about perfect timing.. πŸ˜‰

_MG_2543

_MG_2548

_MG_2540

_MG_2551

We went a little downslope and found ourselves at Telok Blangah Hill Park!

_MG_2501ed-horz

A final self-shot before making our way to the next destination – The Porcelain Hotel at Chinatown! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Whoa. Look at this. Stunning isn’t it? I love most of the photos posted on the hotel’s website and facebook page, which led me to the decision in booking a night’s stay here! πŸ™‚

_MG_2556

Check in time is anything after 2pm. We arrived at 12plus and decided to try our luck! And yes, our room was ready! πŸ˜€

_MG_2560

_MG_2563

Our Queen Executive room was located on the fifth floor which also happens to be the highest floor. The corridor was really dark and kinda creepy. :S

_MG_2565

The reviewers sure weren’t kidding when they commented that the rooms are insanely small. Can you believe that this is an Executive room? This was what greeted us when we opened the door. Like, so in-your-face. Not for the claustrophobic puh-leeze. I was really upset and misterchewy phoned the reception. It turns out that the pictures I saw on their facebook page are taken at the new wing, which is not available yet. Plus there’s no bath tub! *Cheat my feelings* Hubby Chewy checked that we could upgrade to either a room with jacuzzi or the theme suite at an additional $50++ or $80++ per night respectively.

_MG_2793

As I was still reeling from shock, Hubby Chewy said, “Ok la let’s go for the best. Theme Suite ok? I treat you to the upgrade.” πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

IMG_0989

The first thing that we saw upon entering was not a bed, but a couch.

IMG_0988

Although it’s not written all over my face, I was really stunned to see a staircase in our room! Haha!

IMG_0986

IMG_0985

Woots! That’s our bed! πŸ˜€

_MG_2577

Our Theme Suite is about 43 square meters. If I didn’t remember wrongly, the Queen Exec is about 13 to 14 square meters. Tremendous difference yo!

_MG_2711

There’s free WIFI! Hmm I think this would benefit tourists more.

_MG_2578

THIS. Yes this made my jaw drop and I actually squealed out loud in excitement. LOL.

_MG_2566

The bath tub is situated behind the bed, partitioned by the mirror and basins. So it’s like u can soak yourselves in the tub while enjoying the air-con yo! Machiam hot spring during winter! πŸ˜€

_MG_2789

Haha aiya misterchewy also excited lor. πŸ˜›

_MG_2567

_MG_2737

_MG_2579

IMG_0998

_MG_2590

_MG_2687

Time to check out the fridge! Heh πŸ˜› Well, there’s nothing except for two bottles of water. Good thing they chilled it for us!

_MG_2691

Coffee, tea or me? Lol.

_MG_2692

_MG_2708

_MG_2739

These hotel bedroom slippers are a must for me!

_MG_2735

_MG_2753

_MG_2693

Another must-have in the hotel – hair dryer!

IMG_0979

IMG_0982

_MG_2705

_MG_2595

Like I said earlier, I had our activities all planned out! Decided to go to My Waterway @ Punggol (also known as Punngol Waterway) because it was along the NEL. Seemed like it rained before we arrived!

_MG_2599

Haha seriously, we were laughing at this staircase. No idea where or what does it exactly lead to..

_MG_2601

_MG_2602

_MG_2612

_MG_2619

_MG_2623

“Ahhh! My bus come already!” LOL just for fun.

_MG_2624

_MG_2625

_MG_2628

LOL misterchewy told me to run towards him for this shot! Can you see how happy I am running towards my love? πŸ˜›

_MG_2655

This pose was not exactly a deliberate attempt on my part. I was feeling tired and wanted to sit down.. and hence this! πŸ˜‰ Hehehe misterchewy was teaching me some ‘leading lines’ photography composition and he took this photo to show me an example. Ok la I think got a bit πŸ˜›

_MG_2656

_MG_2657

*Cues “Wa meng ti! Wa meng ti!” song* HAHAHA! I should photoshop some dark clouds and a storm but I don’t know how! πŸ˜›

_MG_2658

I think we are starting to look more and more alike. >;_<; LOL!

_MG_2662

It was our first time here and we were kinda surprised that there weren’t many people even though it was a weekend. Everyone’s busy shopping, perhaps? We saw a Malay couple having their wedding shots taken there and a couple of joggers. Plus a few lone rangers. That’s about it I think.

_MG_2664

_MG_2665

I can’t believe I actually shouted, “Look! Got coconut tree!” Damn fail. But it does look like one, no? πŸ˜›

_MG_2667

_MG_2677

This was where we deviated from the original plan! We had wanted to go to Chomp Chomp for early dinner like at around 4plus but the place opens only at 6pm! Hungry us found ourselves at Ramen Champion at Iluma πŸ˜€

_MG_2680

_MG_2681

_MG_2686

Went back to the hotel after dinner. We found another ‘secret’ entrance to the hotel! Nobody mans the counter over here. Haha! It’s me again, holding up the new room card this time πŸ˜›

_MG_2758

The weather was really quite humid and the first thing we did was to take a nice long shower! We used the hotel’s shampoo and bath gel. Bought the facial wash and hair conditioner at Bugis after dinner! Ok the thing that I like is that there is a wide enough ledge where I can place all our toiletries on!

_MG_2730

We had been eagerly looking forward to this! A week before, I pulled misterchewy along to choose the scents he like or didn’t like because he’s quite fussy. We went to Marks & Spencer but nothing appealed us. Found this Bodycology Vanilla Cupcake Shower Gel & Foaming Bath in a small shop and the moment we took a whiff, we knew this was the one! Very very candy-sweeeeet-smelling! Vanilla cupcake mah! πŸ˜› We poured the entire bottle under running water! The water was only slightly hotter than lukewarm. But we enjoyed it a great deal nonetheless! πŸ˜€

_MG_2750

Everyone should indulge in some bubble bath fun with your partner! πŸ˜› Our tub was able to fit two, even though misterchewy’s legs are quite long and he had to bend his knees a bit. Haha. We talked, laughed, splashed water at each other and sipped beer till our fingers turned into prunes! πŸ˜€

_MG_2786

Ok this photo should come last but nevermind. Just wanted to let everyone know that I really liked how the sunlight shone into our room through the roof! No need for alarm clock! Hahaha.

_MG_2765

Hope everyone enjoyed reading about The Chewys’ first staycation! Definitely not going to be our last! Soooo fun! Lalalalala~ We are looking forward to our next staycation! πŸ˜‰

Mambo the Roborovski Hamster :D :D :D

Mambo

Hello humans! *Waves with my tiny little paw* My human has decided that she needs a little break so I’m here to blog for her! I’m Mambo, the Roborovski hamster. I’ll be celebrating my one year old birthday this May. Don’t forget to buy me loads of sunflower seeds ok? πŸ˜€

IMG_1760-tile

I simply loveeeee sunflower seeds! My human thinks that I suck them all up like a vacuum cleaner. And she gives me more seeds when I look at her with my big round eyes! πŸ˜›

IMG_8968_1

This is how my home looks like. I used to live here with my brother, Jumbo. We were born at the same time but he passed away when he was only 5 months old :'( We run the wheel together, eat together, play together and we always sleep next to each other. Can you spot me in this picture? πŸ™‚

IMG_8981

This is one of my favorite places at home. My human calls it a ‘playground’. But sometimes, I take a nice afternoon nap here too!

IMG_9001

I don’t really know why, but I like to sit around this area as well! It’s kinda funny to see my humans waiting for me patiently to get out of this tunnel.

IMG_9010_1

If I’m in a good mood, I will come out and entertain them. πŸ™‚

IMG_8971

My humans love me and they buy me lots of treats! I like these puddings once in a while.

IMG_8976_1

But I’m not a big eater and can’t finish this in one go. I take a nibble here and there.

IMG_8978

Unlike my humans, I’m not exactly a foodie. They buy me dried apples, papaya and mixed vegetables from the pet store but I still prefer the good ol’ sunflower seeds.

_MG_9052

I’m shy to admit that I don’t really like spending time in the sand bath! In this photo, I’m being forced to take a bath! πŸ™

_MG_9058

Hey! What are you looking at? You can’t expect me to bathe myself with you staring at me like that!

IMG_9024

I don’t really like it when my humans carry me! Especially the human boy who’s currently away for his overseas training. He likes to disturb me!

IMG_9033_1

Gaaaaah! There he goes again! Till then, humans! I’m gonna take a nap now. Happy weekend to all! πŸ˜€

Darren’s & Sophia’s Purple Wedding at Shangri La Ballroom

Darren & Sophie Wedding 067-001

You know, I have been skipping tennis for three weeks in a row now! Too many happy occasions which I’m actually very glad to be part of. First was my secondary school friend’s wedding, followed by my colleague’s newborn’s full month celebration. This time, I attended my cousin’s customary wedding. We were at Darren’s place early in the morning to witness the tea ceremony.

Darren & Sophie Wedding 051

9 brothers and 6 sisters. I think the other 3 sisters went missing!

Darren & Sophie Wedding 054

Darren & Sophie Wedding 059

Darren & Sophie Wedding 066

One of my cousins joked that by the time it reaches her turn, at least 40 people would have drank from the same cup. Haha kinda grossed out to hear that!

Darren & Sophie Wedding 060

After the tea ceremony, we went home and took a short nap!

_MG_1969

On the way to Shangri La Hotel! OOTD: The same short gown which I wore for our ROM party and Kate Spade inspired clutch. Decided to rewear the gown because I’m a huge procrastinator and went to search for something suitable only one week before the wedding. In the end, nothing caught my fancy! I kept my fingernails long but I’m also lazy to go for a manicure. Hehehe πŸ˜› Helena Rubinstein once remarked, “There are no ugly women, only lazy ones”. I beg to differ. I’m simply low maintenance YO! πŸ˜€

_MG_1983

Decided to match match our color. Different shades of blue though!

_MG_1999

Spotted the bridal car parked outside!

_MG_2003

_MG_2004

_MG_2011

I really couldn’t contain my excitement when I saw this purple and silver carousel. It’s like the prettiest thing ever! If only I could have something like this in our future house. *Melts*

_MG_2041

Granny, Aunt Colleen with cousins #18 and #19.

_MG_2037

Maeda Uncle is my parents’ colleagues (ex for my dad) for the longest time! We even went out with his wife and three kids when they came over to Singapore many years ago. His eldest daughter is of my age and we used to be penpals. Ahhh memories..

_MG_2033

My mum and Aunt Lucy. I like her nyonya kebaya!

_MG_2035

_MG_2039

Cousin #4, Stanley who’s taller than misterchewy! Haha ok random πŸ˜›

_MG_2046

_MG_2056

Nice family photo of cousin #8, Andy, Valerie and Lavelle!

_MG_2059

Cousin #3, Melissa, James and Naomi! They were the ones who introduced me to scuba diving! Anyway, we were seated at the same table and Naomi was so smiley throughout the entire night! She’s such a happy baby! πŸ™‚

_MG_2066

_MG_2070

In between courses, I went over to look for Mei Yi πŸ™‚

_MG_2073

Kenny is Sharon’s, Elaine’s and Darren’s cousin. His singing is not bad.

_MG_2080

Congratulations Darren and Sophia! Stay loving and sweet always! πŸ˜€

Little Kayden’s Baby Shower

Baby Kayden

I think it’s no secret that I loveeee babies and kids! Felt really happy for Hui Shan when I received an invitation from her to attend her little one’s full month celebration. I mean, look at how time flies! Kayden was born a few days before Valentine’s Day and it is also during the start of the Year of the Dragon! πŸ˜€

_MG_1785

Kayden’s baby shower was held at a multi-purpose hall at Compass Heights Condo. Both misterchewy and I have been kinda overworked lately and we slept till 1pm before rushing off to the event.

_MG_1799

Hehe just a test shot but I love misterchewy’s hair in this photo πŸ˜› Look like mushroom. LOL.

_MG_1812

_MG_1776

_MG_1777

I loved the cake and cupcakes setup. Hahaha Hui Shan was exasperated that nobody dared to touch the cupcakes because the entire setup looked like it served a decorative purpose πŸ˜›

_MG_1780

I picked a Nemo cupcake while misterchewy chose the starfish one πŸ™‚

_MG_1798

_MG_1797

Actually there was some catered food but I didnt take photos because we reached slightly later than the rest.

_MG_1789

And if you have been wondering.. *TADAH!* Here’s the star of the day! πŸ˜€ Everyone wanted to carry him!

_MG_1804

My two other colleagues with Hui Shan in the middle.

_MG_1805

_MG_1809

_MG_1817

Baby Kayden fell asleep after his feeding so Hui Shan promised that she would carry him to office to visit us! πŸ˜€

_MG_1818

_MG_1853

The very next day.. All of us were really excited to see Hui Shan and her baby!

_MG_1842

Awwww.. πŸ™‚

_MG_1849

The feeling of carrying a sleeping infant in your arms.. πŸ˜€ I had to be very careful though.

_MG_1850

_MG_1859

_MG_1868

Hui Shan also distributed some pastries. I like the mochi!

_MG_1846

Congrats Hui Shan and Gerry! May little Kayden grow up fast and intelligent! πŸ™‚

First Wedding of 2012 at Bukit Panjang Community Club!

_MG_1691

Hellooooo everybardy! I have been really busy lately but I managed to squeeze time out for this blog post πŸ˜€ Hubby Chewy and I were invited to my secondary school friend’s wedding on Sunday! Siti and I were in the same class from Sec 1 to 4. We didn’t really keep in contact after that but we happen to follow each other on Twitter in recent years. I really think that Twitter is a more intimate form of social media as compared to Facebook. Well, that’s my own opinion πŸ˜‰ I didn’t expect Siti to invite me to her wedding but when she did, I had to accept her invitation! πŸ˜€ I specially dug out this slightly bling bling turquoise dress from my wardrobe which I had never worn before! πŸ˜›

_MG_1613

The venue was at Bukit Panjang Community Club which is really near my place but we cabbed down because I was afraid that we would miss the couple if they were to head to Tampines. Anyway, the decoration of the interior looked really nice and grand!

_MG_1616

I swear that I actually heaved a huge sigh of relief when I saw Siti and Hidayat sitting on the red couch, because it meant that we could still take pictures with them. Haha! πŸ˜›

_MG_1618

We had to queue up if we wanted to have our photos taken with them. Machiam superstar leh! And while waiting I told misterchewy, “Wah! I’m so nervous!” To this he replied, “You nervous for what. You’re not the one who’s getting married..” Okay.

_MG_1619

Yay! We went up on stage and I passed Siti a red packet with a Precious Moments print on it. Sorry but I don’t have a green packet! I heard that the head thingy that Siti wore weighs a tonne. Their couple outfit looks nice huh? And Siti is so cantik! Hehe! πŸ™‚

_MG_1621

Congrats once again, Siti and Hidayat! πŸ˜€

_MG_1623

The beautiful three tier cake!

_MG_1628

Snapped some shots of the dessert section when we got off the stage πŸ˜›

_MG_1626

_MG_1627

_MG_1633

Right after I was done with this shot, misterchewy asked, “Why that table over there keep looking at you ah? You know them?” I was like, “Errr don’t think so leh.”

_MG_1634

Then I saw Aishah waving at me! She and Asari (no they are not a couple) walked over and we chatted for a while. They were my Sec 1 and 2 classmates! πŸ˜€

_MG_1636

LOL I rushed back to the stage when I saw that Siti and Hidayat were posing for shots. Felt like a paparazzi YO! πŸ˜›

_MG_1637

_MG_1640

And it was time for the cake cutting ceremony! I think they were supposed to give a speech. Hmmm.. Perhaps the itinerary had been shifted around and we missed that. Anyway, this is one of my favorite shots! πŸ˜€

_MG_1643

_MG_1656

Ok this is my favorite! Very sweet and blissful πŸ™‚

_MG_1653

Special table setting for the bride and groom.

_MG_1665

Awwww.. So loving! πŸ˜€

_MG_1666

Haha an iPhone got in the way of my shot but it’s ok! πŸ˜›

_MG_1669

Hehehe cheeky bride showing me the victory sign.

_MG_1671

_MG_1672

_MG_1673

Siirin and I spotted each other when we were getting ready for the group shot. I think we were in the same class only in upper sec πŸ˜› Old liao, can’t remember. I was asking her little one, “Handsome boy, what’s your name?” He gave me a shy smile. Awwww!

_MG_1680

I was too busy taking photos! Time for some food. The black pepper chicken was awesome! Yummy! πŸ˜€

_MG_1685

Rushed to take photo as Siti and Hidayat were leaving to go over to Tampines.

_MG_1687

I like the smoke effect! There was a bubble one too.

_MG_1703

We stayed around for a while more before taking a bus down to Orchard! Wheeee! πŸ˜€ Haha I usually spend Sundays playing tennis but it felt great to be able to spend time with misterchewy! We played darts at Cineleisure. Our first time! One of the guys commented that I’m ‘quite good’ because out of 12 tries, I hit the bull’s eye 3 times πŸ˜› But then again, 2 times were way of target and it bounced off the board and onto the floor. Awkward max.

_MG_1704

Uncommon sight! There was a military band playing to the tune of “M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E” song! OMG. Cute!

_MG_1705

_MG_1720

Hopped on the bus along Orchard Road and we headed for Clarke Quay next. Dinner at Brewerkz! Our first time again! πŸ˜€

_MG_1734

Hubby Chewy heard that the buffalo wings are good so we were keen to give it a try. There is a choice of mild, hot and suicide. Decided to play it safe and went for the hot wings. Not exactly very hot, and it was a little sourish. Next time should try suicide! πŸ˜›

_MG_1733

I wasn’t feeling very hungry so we only ordered one other dish, which was the roasted duck pizza otherwise known as Quack Quack. Hurhur. I prefer Timbre’s!

_MG_1736

_MG_1735

_MG_1740

Wokay! That’s all folks! Have a great week ahead πŸ™‚

Spending Our First Valentine’s Day as Mr & Mrs Chew!

_MG_1123

And so, the sweet boy and I spent our second Valentine’s Day together. Last year as boyfriend and girlfriend, and this is our first year spending Valentine’s Day together as hubby and wifey. He gave me a nice surprise on the day before Valentine’s Day too! Don’t we girls love surprises, especially during special occasions like this! πŸ˜€ Hubby Chewy picked me up from work and I made use of the opportunity to get him carry home the remaining two bottles of wine (I lugged one back last week) from the hamper prize that I won. He pointed at my heels, “Do you wanna go home first to change into something more comfortable then we head out for dinner?” I was like, “Ok! These things are too heavy anyway.” When we got out of the lift, I made a casual remark that I wanna wash my feet before we head out. Ok this might sound pointless to some but it’s a habit of mine that I have to wash my feet when I return home. Hubby said, “Ok then I wait for you outside.” I proceeded to unlock the door and that was when I saw the bouquet of bears, card and chocolates on the table. At first, I thought my dad wanted to play the old romantic and surprise my mum. My second thought was that my mum wanted to play a prank on me! I inched forward and squinted at the card.

_MG_1131

The card was addressed to me and signed off by Hubby Chewy. Yours truly screamed, “OH MY GAWD!” upon realizing that the boy was sneaky enough to plan and execute this surprise while I was at work. Hurhur. I bet Hubby Chewy was grinning and thinking, “Gotcha!” Anyway I think my response was really epic. What kinda response was that?! >_<

_MG_1129

I think the chocolates impressed me the most! I mean if it was just the bouquet and the card, it would have looked less remarkable. Seriously! πŸ˜›

Vday 004

Wanted to display this (read: NOT show off) in office but it’s really too huge and will probably take up an entire shelf space! D:

_MG_1145

I’m very touched by Hubby Chewy’s effort. Chanel 2.55 next year okay, hubby? πŸ˜€

_MG_1178

Call me kiasu but I was the one who made reservations at Da Paolo Ristorane about a month ago. I decided to be initiative about it since misterchewy has been pretty bogged down by work. And I really didn’t want to put things till the very last minute. All the Da Paolo restaurants offer different set menus and we decided to go ahead with the one at Chip Bee Gardens. Checked with misterchewy and he was alright with settling for Da Paolo’s Valentine’s Day Set Menu at $128 per person, which includes a glass of Prosecco.

_MG_1181

Yours truly went the extra mile by applying red hot lipstick and wearing falsies just for the special date. Hehe! πŸ˜›

Our starter of Atlantic Scallops, Carrot and Tangerine Sauce, Passion Fruit, Celery turned out to be a true delight. The thick, creamy sauce was really brilliant!

_MG_1175

_MG_1170

We had a middle course of Spinach Carnaroli Risotto with King Prawns in Brandy Sauce. I loveeeee risotto and it had been ages since I last ate it. Hubby Chewy and I both agreed that the risotto was firm to the bite but the creaminess was kind of overwhelming towards the end.

_MG_1191

I chose the Grouper Fillet with Asparagus & Herbed Potatoes in Hollandaise sauce as my main course. Felt that the fish was a tad dry.

_MG_1193

The husband was quite satisfied with his Braised Lamb Shoulder, which he marvelled to be very tender.

_MG_1201

_MG_1204

_MG_1205

Strawberry Tiramisu with White Chocolate! This was the best out of all the courses, no kidding! πŸ˜› Light, creamy, luscious and heavenly.

_MG_1196

_MG_1198

_MG_1209

“What?! You want me to finish this piece of strawberry?!”

_MG_1215

“I don’t like strawberry.. Can I not eat it pleeeeease?”

_MG_1212

“Boohoohoo.. I really don’t wanna eat it.. I don’t like..”

_MG_1216

Ok I forced misterchewy to finish up the strawberry that was lying on his plate! *evil laughter*

_MG_1217

_MG_1218

_MG_1223

Thank you for the nice dinner treat, Hubby Chewy! πŸ˜€ If you ask me, I think it’s ok to be a little more extravagant on special occasions. Yes I agree that Valentine’s Day is very commercialized but I’m not bothered by this fact πŸ˜›

Lo Hei, Bang! & Monopoly Deal with the Barang Barang Gang!

_MG_0788

Heyhey everybardy! As promised, here’s the post on meeting up with the Barang Barang Gang (my secondary school friends) during CNY. As we were unable to come to a conclusion on dinner plans, all of us decided to settle dinner on our own before reaching SS’ house at around 7.30pm. I wasn’t feeling very hungry so I picked a bit from misterchewy’s economical beehoon πŸ˜› Haha I’m only making him skinnier right?!

_MG_0791

SS stays just across the street! The closer you stay, the later you end up at the doorstep. Happens all the time yo! We reached 30 minutes late πŸ˜› But we weren’t too bad. Jeffrey stays opposite my block but both he and Karen arrived much later. Shame shame. LOL! The latest was Bee because she went home for dinner after her church service ended in the evening but at least she had a valid reason!

_MG_0795

MJ was the one who introduced this Bang! card game to us previously during our group chalet stay and naturally, he was the one who taught us how to play the game. Now, he’s teaching misterchewy!

_MG_0800

We played one round of Bang! while waiting for the rest to arrive. I was the Sheriff! πŸ˜€

_MG_0802

JH and SS trying to guess who’s the baddie in this game.

_MG_0809

Everybody soon arrived and Chee helped to add the remaining ingredients for the yusheng!

_MG_0813

The original Barang Barang Gang of 8 members plus our ‘new’ members misterchewy and Karen! πŸ™‚

_MG_0816

Haha I think this group of friends is the most ‘hiong’ when it comes to lo hei! SS was worried that the yusheng would hit the ceiling. LOL!

_MG_0831

Everyone wants a piece of gold! πŸ˜€

_MG_0832

Snacked on some kueh lapis and chips while deciding what games to play next.

_MG_0834

Hahaha everyone looked very solemn here! Why so serious?!

As each game has a certain maximum number of players, we had to split up. I chose Monopoly Deal!

The guys are laughing about something! Guess what’s up their sleeves?

Hahaha ok that’s all folks! Our CNY celebration doesn’t stop here! There will be one more post coming up next week. Huat ah! In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled if you wanna win yourself a bottle of wine and some catering vouchers. Ciao! πŸ™‚

PS.Cafe at Ann Siang Hill Park & The Pigeonhole at Duxton Hill

CNY 032

Whoohoo! 15 days of CNY ftw! πŸ˜› Hahaha misterchewy and I met up with two groups of friends last week. Hubby Chewy’s secondary school friends jio-ed us to have dinner together on Thursday, which also happened to be our 18th monthsary. But we were cool! πŸ™‚ Anyway, I have met them (except Qi Hui) before and the last we saw one another was at our ROM party last September.

CNY 008

We went to PS.Cafe. First time for misterchewy. PS.Cafe at Ann Siang Hill Park, first time for me! Cheers! πŸ˜€

CNY 010

Cheng Xiang and Qi Hui got together during their JC days and have been together for about 8 years and counting! πŸ™‚

CNY 014

Ivan, Cheng Xiang and Qi Hui. So happy ah? πŸ˜›

CNY 016

Teng Teng and myself πŸ™‚

CNY 017

CNY 022

Qi Hui had the Rustic Beef Cheek Stew.

CNY 020

Trying out the PS. shoestring fries from Cheng Xiang’s Chargrilled Cheese Burger.

CNY 019

Ivan had a glass of Pinot Noir to go with his Signature Steak Sandwich.

CNY 018

A glass of Shiraz and Crab Tart for yours truly πŸ™‚ Quite impressive!

CNY 024

CNY 023

Haha misterchewy always sticks to the safest items! PS. Fish & Chips and Hoegaarden for him.

CNY 021

Can’t remember what Teng Teng ordered for her mains. I like the tea cup and saucer though! πŸ™‚

CNY 025

CNY 030

It was great chatting with them over dinner and drinks. We left PS.Cafe at around 8.30pm and decided to head to Duxton Hill, which is just a 10-minute walk, for some coffee.

CNY 038

Guess where? The Pigeonhole! This book cafe is set up by two young Singaporean love birds. Hubby Chewy and I had heard so much about this place from our Twitter friends (no they are not birds or pigeons) and we are finally here! πŸ™‚ Nice place to chill out!

CNY 035

You can find different types of tables and chairs there. The red bench that Teng Teng is sitting on reminds me of some old school void deck bench or park bench πŸ˜›

CNY 039

Hehehe I’m a sucker for comfy sofa seats because I’m a couch potato! πŸ˜€ Actually we moved to another area even before the seats were hot because the table was quite small.

CNY 041

I think Ivan and Teng Teng had some Apple Cider drinks.

CNY 046

Iced Latte for Cheng Xiang and Flat White for Qi Hui.

CNY 050

Isn’t my Flat Brown cuteeee?! Pigeon coffee art! Lucky me! πŸ™‚

CNY 051

Haha misterchewy chose a Chocolate Babycino because he doesn’t like coffee. Maybe I should call him Babycino too! πŸ˜›

CNY 049

CNY 055

Kenny joined us after he was done with his family dinner around the area!

Friends for more than 10 years! Even though I wasn’t in the same secondary school as misterchewy and his friends, it was nevertheless interesting to listen to them reminisce about their school days. In the meantime, stay tuned to my upcoming blog post on meeting up with MY secondary school friends! πŸ˜‰
