Valentine’s Day Dinner @ Villa di Parma

_MG_2030

Wassup chewy chewy friends! How was Valentine’s Day for you? Hope that those of you who were initially single and available are all happily attached today! πŸ˜› This year’s Valentine’s Day fell on a weekday and as much as misterchewy and I would love to take a day off work to celebrate the occasion together, we didn’t because we had already applied for a considerable amount of annual leave for our honeymoon in a few weeks’ time. My OOTD was this black lacy dress from Hollyhoque! πŸ™‚

_MG_1983

This marks our 3rd year spending Valentine’s Day together, our 2nd as a married couple. It doesn’t feel like we have only known each other for 2 years plus, really. I think we got comfortable in each other’s presence really quickly. Anyway, I told misterchewy that I didn’t want a fanciful or extravagant celebration this year since we are already spending a bomb on our wedding banquet and honeymoon trip. And I need the extra moolah for my Chanel and Prada ah! πŸ˜›

_MG_1984

Left the husband to decide on our dinner location and he went ahead with Villa di Parma which is near Chomp Chomp. Very far from our workplace. Zzz. I was quite amused that misterchewy was more fascinated by the table setting than his Valentine. Lol.

_MG_1980ed

A bottle of wine would be too much for us so we only had a glass of white wine each ($10). Bad wine choice because it tasted really ‘siap’. Bleah.

_MG_1985

_MG_1993

This year, we also agreed on not buying gifts for each other but misterchewy surprised me about 15 minutes before lunch time with a bouquet of roses that had really nice pink glitter on the rose petals. He actually took a cab from his workplace in the North to mine in the West. Really appreciative of his effort and sweet gesture πŸ™‚

_MG_1994ed

Prior to making reservations at Villa di Parma, misterchewy read some reviews online and told me that the Calamari ($15.80) seemed to be a popular dish. I have to agree because squid was lightly coated with batter and deep fried in a way that retained the squid’s chewy texture. The calamari was served with marinara sauce dip (if I’m not wrong) which was something different as compared to the usual mayo.

_MG_1998

Our love for mushroom soup made us order a bowl of Crema Di Funghi ($7.80) each. It was certainly one of the best mushroom soup that I have tried so far. The consistency was neither too watery not too thick, it was just right and had small chunks of mushroom for added texture. Pine nuts had also been added. I don’t usually like pine nuts in my food for its slightly bitter taste but the addition of pine nuts gave the soup a balanced taste in all aspects.

_MG_2005

_MG_2008

We were asked if we wanted cream to be added to our Carbonara ($18.80) and that the authentic Italian carbonara is supposed to be dry. We opted for the dry version so as not to overwhelm ourselves with cream, cream and more cream. The spaghetti was cooked slightly past al dente and it was not overly creamy for us.

_MG_2016

We also shared the Smoked Duck Pizza ($24.80) and agreed that it wasn’t really fantastic. Maybe we should have ordered the smoked salmon pizza instead.

_MG_2027

Kinda full so we decided against ordering any desserts. The statement, “there is always room for desserts” still holds la. Haha.

_MG_2020

_MG_2022

It was just a simple celebration but I’m thankful for everything πŸ™‚

_MG_2043-001

Hahaha taken on the bus because we were sitting at the back and the bus was really empty πŸ˜›

_MG_2046-001

I don’t usually receive flowers from the husband because I keep telling him that flowers are a waste of money. Now, I have two bouquets in my office. πŸ˜€

_MG_2040ed

Cheers to many many more Valentine’s Days together!

The Chewys’ Guide to Valentine’s Day

_MG_3313

What comes right after Chinese New Year? Yes, Valentine’s Day! Rejoice because you should have collected enough angbao money just in time to splurge on this fabulous occasion! Yipee! Ummm.. But if you are giving out angbao instead then.. hmm nvm la πŸ˜› While The Chewys are not dating or love gurus, we would still like to share some ideas as to how to spend Valentine’s Day with The One this year! πŸ˜€ Please note that the following listed below are based on our personal tastes and preferences πŸ˜‰

Begin the Special Day with Brunch

_MG_2462

Nothing beats waking past noon together with your loved one and digging into some thick, fluffy blueberry pancakes the laid-back way at the charming and majestic Alkaff Mansion. Go for a stroll at Telok Blangah Hill Park after brunch!

Jiemei meetup @ Au Chocolat 012

If you wanna impress your date, take her to Au Chocolat at Marina Bay Sands. The eggs benedict smothered in dark chocolate infused hollandaise sauce are something unique. Remember to thank us if she happens to be a chocolate lover.

_MG_4836

Not a fan or eggs or pancakes? The Lawn at Biopolis serves really great tasting salads with a wide range of delicious grilled meat. The location might be a bit off, but hey, The Star Vista is just opposite!

Daytime Dating Activity

_MG_3445com

If you belong to the group who thinks that everyday is Valentine’s Day and prefer to spend it in a relaxing way, grab a kite and head down to Marina Barrage! Remember to slather on some sunblock!

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 420

Your date doesn’t like the sun? Well, there are plenty of indoor activities! The S.E.A. Aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa is certainly not to be missed! Be marvelled as the colorful fishes swim by~

DSC_1155

There’s always a first time for everything. Make your Valentine’s Day a memorable one by doing an indoor skydiving at iFly Singapore together! It might only be a few seconds of excitement in the wind tunnel but the memories are yours to keep for a lifetime.

Unwind with an Afternoon Tea

_MG_3827

Always remember, ladies love to be pampered. After a long day, take her to a cosy and dainty place such as Fullhouse Themed Restaurant. We’re sure that she will be thrilled for being treated like a princess.

Us @ Arteastiq

Located at Mandarin Gallery, Arteastiq gives a unique high tea experience in Orchard like no other! The famous apple cake and orange cake are some of their must-try items besides their dessert teas.

_MG_0446

Duxton Hill area at Tanjong Pagar has a number of eateries and cafes. If your lady has a sweet tooth, she is likely to say yes to the drunken Spanish sponge cake and churros at Sabio Tapas Bar & Restaurant. Oh, there are many bridal studios around the area. If you are ready to take your relationship to another level, you know what to do πŸ˜‰

Romantic Dinner for Two

_MG_3569

Try not to max out your stomach space during afternoon tea because this is where the important part comes. I’m sure you wanna make this really memorable for your special one right? One of our top picks for a romantic dinner for two is Backyard@Dempsey. You can totally be in a world of your own, surrounded by lush greenery around you. The atmosphere is casual and unpretentious so you and your date can really be yourselves and enjoy the moment! Toast to the occasion with a glass of Kronenbourg or two.

_MG_6693

Oh yeah, it’s the Kronenbourg again. Haha. In our opinion, the more inaccessible the dinner place is for special occasions like this, the more brownie points you score. The Coastal Settlement is kinda secluded but the truffle mushroom fettuccine makes the trip worthwhile.

_MG_6978

For exquisite Italian fare, Senso Ristorante & Bar is the place to go to. Don’t forget to open a bottle of wine and clink glasses! Psst.. Senso serves really awesome chocolate molten lava cake!

_MG_4101

Stellar at 1-Altitude is bound to burn a hole in your pocket but it’s only a small price to pay to make your date feel on top of the world. Don’t forget to dress to impress.

Ku De Ta Valentine's Day Tasting

Another very romantic dinner location is none other than KU DΓ‰ TA at Marina Bay Sands. From the 57th floor, the beautiful view of the city will take anyone’s breath away. After dinner, adjourn to the KU DΓ‰ TA club lounge and party the night away!

Staycation in Singapore

_MG_0189

This is not a must but a staycation in Singapore is one of the most romantic thing that a guy can plan for a girl and vice versa. Grand Park Orchard is very ideal considering that it is located along Orchard Road. You have the option of catching a midnight movie at Cineleisure or borrowing a DVD from the hotel which means you can snuggle up to your partner under the sheets πŸ˜‰

_MG_7113

For a romantic staycation experience like no other, Wanderlust Hotel is our favorite pick. There are various themed rooms but we reckon that the Space room is the best.

Just relax, be yourselves and have fun. Hope this gives everyone an idea or two about how to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year! Connect with us at our Facebook page and feel free to ask us any questions! πŸ˜€

Goodbye 2012! Hello 2013! :D

_MG_1159-tile

Cheers chewy chewy people! Here’s a toast to a splendid and awesome 2013 ahead! Like what I had done for 2011, I have decided to compile a list of the more interesting events which occurred in 2012 for misterchewy and myself! Frankly speaking, 2011 was more exciting than 2012 but we are very sure that 2013 will definitely be a blast because we are in the midst of making great things happen! πŸ˜‰

14 February 2012 – There are many firsts in our lives, and we spent our first Valentine’s Day as husband and wife last year. If you really really have to know (LOL), it was our second Valentine’s Day as a couple πŸ™‚

February 2012 – And in the same month, we were also given a special feature in Purple Sage’s e-magazine, Taste! It was truly an honour for us to have this opportunity of being featured in a publication! And yes, that Tiramisu photo was taken by yours truly πŸ˜€

_MG_2705

7 to 8 April 2012 – We went for our very first staycation in Singapore and it was at Porcelain Hotel! It was not our last staycation! In fact, 2012 had been kind to us and we were blessed with four staycations! πŸ˜›

7220926308_627f201d18_b

12 May 2012 – If you don’t already know, Mambo our Roborovski hamster, is part of our family. I took part in a Furry Photos contest and Mambo got himself a free photoshoot around the time he turned one! He’s our cute little darling and we loveeeee him very much! πŸ™‚

2nd Year Anniversary Photo Collage

26 July 2012 – We celebrated yet another milestone of being together for 2 years!

_MG_7109

30 to 31 July 2012 – Yours truly turned 2X (where X is a positive integer) and misterchewy planned a memorable staycation at Wanderlust Hotel and we put up at a two-storey space themed room! We also built a terrarium for each other, had exquisite Italian dinner at the very romantic Senso restaurant, and it all ended with a birthday lunch at Pollen, followed by a nice stroll at Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay.

DSC_0033

9 September 2012 – It was our first year wedding anniversary as well as misterchewy’s birthday! We celebrated the occasion by having Japanese dinner at Takumi Tokyo, where the restaurant was located at Keppel Bay. Check out our casual wedding anniversary photoshoot too!

DSC_1155

6 October 2012 – Together with some other invited bloggers, I had a taste of indoor skydiving at iFly Sentosa! I wanna try the actual thing next time!

530904_10151306104632744_235029387_n

8 October 2012 – We spent an entire day for our wedding photoshoot, which was very tiring but extremely fun! Selected the photos last two months and we were quite satisfied. Total damage? More than $8K. Prior to the photoshoot, I also visited Shunji Matsuo salon and dyed some parts of my hair purple. Yes, it was for the photoshoot. Aren’t women vain? LOL.

_MG_9506

12 to 15 October 2012 – The Chewys went for a much deserved 4D3N trip to Bangkok. We ate and shopped and ate and shopped and ate somemore! Highlight of the trip was our fine dining experience high up in the sky! Click here to read our day 1 to day 4 blog posts.

IMG_1608

9 November 2012 – Joined in the fun at my colleague’s hens night party at IndoChine! Now, I can’t wait for mine! Hoho!

IMG_2060

30 November to 1 December 2012 – Both misterchewy and I were invited by the folks of Resorts World Genting to take part in the Adrenaline Junkie Challenge at the indoor and outdoor theme park! It was truly an exciting and unforgettable experience for us.

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 420

24 December 2012 – Despite the crowd on Christmas Eve, we enjoyed touring the world’s largest oceanarium, S.E.A. Aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa! Pleased that this post got the most number of blog hits and visitors on the day it was published! Well, not that I really care about these figures πŸ˜›

IMG_1805

25 December 2012 – Spent the first couple of hours on Christmas partying away at Butter Factory!

IMG_1916

31 December 2012 – Didn’t hang out much outside on new year eve because it was pouring the entire day! Good thing the skies cleared by around 8pm and we made our way to the Siloso Beach Countdown Party!

Did you make any new year resolutions this year? I didn’t because I don’t believe in making them. Haha. May 2013 be a fun-filled one for all! πŸ˜‰

Resorts World Sentosa S.E.A. Aquarium on Christmas Eve!

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 389

Hope the long weekend had been a fantabulous one for all of you! Anybody took MC yesterday or even today? LOL. Ok jokes aside, I have decided to let this post jump queue because misterchewy planned a trip to Resorts World Sentosa S.E.A Aquarium on Christmas Eve for the both of us and I just want to share our experience with all of you! πŸ˜€

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 382

We were kinda putting things to the very last minute and good thing misterchewy suggested visiting the world’s largest oceanarium! He booked 1 day passes at $29 per adult the day before but the queue to board the monorail was madness!

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 395

Well, good things are worth the wait right? Hahaha. Omgee we were so so so excited! πŸ˜€ I was totally looking forward to this because my last time being so close to marine life is at least two years ago, when I last dived at Krabi. Ok la this one is different but still quite close. I used to keep a dive blog! Haha stopped updating in 2009 πŸ˜› My dream is to go scuba diving with misterchewy one day! I know he is reading this. πŸ˜›

Yay! The Chewys’ Christmas Eve date at RWS S.E.A Aquarium begins! :))

Everyone was giving a $5 voucher because not all of the fishes had been transported to the S.E.A Aquarium so I’m guessing this voucher thingy will be temporary. I got a tuna and egg mayo focaccia sandwich and a bottle of green tea to satisfy my hunger! Not a fan of ham so I chose tuna πŸ˜›

Souvenirs and soft toys for everyone! Nothing caught my eye. Maybe I’m really too old for this. LOL.

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 674

Heh heh. So what do you guys think? Worth the $29 per person or not? Somemore got $5 voucher. LOL. The Chewys had a pretty mind-blowing experience at Resorts World Sentosa S.E.A. Aquarium and we believe people of all ages will love it as much as we did! πŸ™‚ Not sure if I have the time or energy to do a summary of 2012 blog post so this could be our last post of the year! Happy New Year in advance! πŸ˜‰

Bangkok Day 3: Fine Dining @ Vertigo Restaurant and Moon Bar

_MG_9113

Good Tuesday morning, chewy chewy friends! I had a really shiok weekend staycation with misterchewy and I can’t wait to share it in words and photos with all of you! But first, here’s another photo-heavy blog post that places more emphasis on the highlight of our third day in Bangkok! Before we get to that part, let me tell you that misterchewy and I woke up super duper early so that we can go shopping! Why don’t we get this kind of enthusiasm back home? LOL. Again, breakfast at the hotel!

_MG_9123

We chose to walk about 20 minutes to Platinum Mall. Good thing I tied up my hair in the morning because I knew that it was gonna be hot. The funny thing is, we reached the shopping mall early at around 10.30am but most of the shops were not opened for business yet! So we sat there and wait. Sorry no pics of us shopping because we were too busy keeping a lookout for nice clothes etc. Don’t bother to haggle with the store owners because they will automatically give you a discount if you buy 2 pieces or a wholesale price for 3 pieces and above.

_MG_9142

Took a tuk tuk to Chatuchak Weekend Market! Yeah tuk tuk FTW~ πŸ˜› Hungry us decided to eat lunch first before shopping around! There wasn’t any menu, just the banner on top and everything was in Thai. We tried conversing in very simple English. “Chicken, beef or pork?” Luckily the young one understood and replied, “This pork. This beef.” “Ok two bowls. No beef.”

_MG_9136

_MG_9134

_MG_9126

Photo taken by misterchewy while I was busy Instagramming and subsequently posting on Facebook πŸ˜› We only found out later that these are the famous Bangkok boat noodles. Took a sip of the savory, hearty broth and the rest was history! The boat noodles were really slurpilicious goooood! We enjoyed the broth thoroughly; it was well-flavored for a good amount of spring onions, sweet basil and probably a dash of pork blood had been added.

_MG_9145

Felt really satisfied after finishing our delicious bowls of boat noodles and it was time for us to see if there was anything worth buying at Chatuchak market!

_MG_9147

We managed to get some souvenirs for colleagues and friends. I bought a handful of Singha, Chang and Leo beer magnets for myself! Really cute! Took a tuk tuk (yes again) back to our hotel and showered plus nua-ed a bit before our long awaited dinner! πŸ˜€

_MG_9323

Ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you that I had actually made email reservations to dine at Vertigo Restaurant and Moon Bar around 2.5 months before the trip. Kiasu much? Kiasu better than be disappointed right? As the popular saying goes, “Book early to avoid disappointment!” πŸ˜›

_MG_9159

Since most things in Bangkok are cheap, I decided to splurge a little more on fine dining while we were there. Also, prior to this, we were actually comtemplating a staycation for our first year wedding anniversary cum misterchewy’s birthday. Decided not to go with the staycation in the end and chose this short getaway instead. So this dinner is also part of the belated celebration πŸ˜› Our dinner cost around the same as our airfare, even more than our hotel stay!

_MG_9163

Located on the 61st floor of Banyan Tree Hotel, Vertigo and Moon Bar is an alfresco fine dining restaurant that offers a breathtaking view of Bangkok both in the day and at night. There are two sittings for dinner and I chose the first round which is the sunset period, from 6pm to 8pm. Second seating is from 8.30pm to 10.30pm. Moon Bar closes at 1am so if you want to chill out after dinner, you know you are better off staying put in your seat.

_MG_9165

_MG_9172

_MG_9174

Allow me to backtrack a little.. We didn’t take a tuk tuk to Banyan Tree la. Cab fare from our hotel costs 200 baht only. Considering the distance, we probably had to pay 150 baht if we were to travel by tuk tuk. Anyway, we can’t afford to mess up our hair. LOL. We reached about 30 minutes early and had pre-dinner drinks!

_MG_9186

_MG_9192

Please be warned that there will be quite a number of photos because I was trying to capture the various views during sunset πŸ˜€

_MG_9263

We were later asked if we could change tables so that they could accomodate a large group. Didn’t want to make things difficult for them and we agreed. They gave us two complimentary glasses of Prosecco but too bad I’m not a fan. Hehe.

_MG_9317

_MG_9325

Cabbed back to our hotel!

_MG_9340

A little souvenir from Vertigo and Moon Bar for us to bring home! They went round taking photos of all guests and developed the photos for each table, which I thought was a really nice gesture. Our dinner at Vertigo will definitely serve as sweet memories in the many years to come! πŸ™‚

Wedding Anniversary Photoshoot with Firefly Photography

DSC_0013

Whoohoo! TGIF chewy chewy friends! The week passed by like a flash. I know our first year wedding anniversary was on 9 September and it took me so long to post this πŸ˜› A couple of weeks before our anniversary, I chanced upon a Groupon deal for this 90 minute photoshoot with Firefly Photography at just $12. You must be thinking, “Yeah $12.. You gotta be kidding me right?” So smart, $12 includes only 5 edited photos. We had to top up $68 to get 50 edited photos and the remaining 100++ raw ones, which is still quite a good deal! πŸ˜€

DSC_0011-001

Here are some of the shots that I personally prefer. We were trying to think of a theme for our casual photoshoot and it was PICNIC! We bought some jumbo sized snacks from the supermarket and also a pink ukulele just for this shoot! πŸ˜› Location was at Hort Park and homaigawd it was really hot even at 10am.

Takumi Tokyo: Romantic First Year Wedding Anniversary Dinner

9th September
(Words by misterchewy, photos by missuschewy)

Hello all! This is misterchewy blogging about his birthday and first year wedding anniversary celebration with missuschewy on 9th September. The above was shot on an iPhone by Jenny Sun, the same photographer who took engagement and wedding shots for Jayesslee’s Sonia and her husband Andy. It’s such a coincidence the Jayesslee twins and I were born on 9 September, in the same year! 0909 is a nice date because it means ι•Ώι•ΏδΉ…δΉ… which is why we tied the knot on my birthday last year πŸ™‚

First Year Wedding Anniversary_Misterchewy Birthday 003

Rewind a few weeks earlier, we met up with the other foodies and caught Jiro Dreams of Sushi at VivoCity. The fantastic cinematograph totally whetted my appetite for some sushi and sashimi! Had been searching high and low for quality Japanese food for weeks. As a surprise, the wifey promptly made reservations at Takumi Tokyo Restaurant, located at the laid-back Keppel Bay. Come to think of it, she brought me here for an advanced mini birthday celebration at Prive two years ago!

Walking is our favorite mode of transportation when missuschewy isn’t wearing heels πŸ˜› We were around town area and chose to take a leisurely stroll in after alighting at Harbourfront MRT Station. A stroll soon turned into brisk walking as we were famished!

I might not express it but I was excited and looking forward to the dinner. My wife certainly knows how to make me happy and excited. -gasps- Stop letting your mind wonder. A woman who knows the way to her man’s stomach will tie him down automatically. HAHA.

I think it was missuschewy’s first time wearing such a long dress to go paktor with me. So pretty lor πŸ˜›

Our stomachs could not take it anymore and we finally continued making our way to the restaurant which is located on level 2. Turn left upon exiting the lift and you will find Takumi Tokyo after passing by TCC.

Takumi Restaurant is said to be a fine-dining restaurant with interiors that create an ambience that complements the food and service for an authentic and unpretentious Japanese dining experience. It has a number of awards under its belt, such as Best Restaurant 2010, Singapore Tatler and Top 3 Japanese Restaurants, Singapore Press Holdings.

Gosh! We were so hungry when we reached the restaurant. Didn’t know whether to go for the set menu or select ala carte dishes. In the end, we decided to go for a bit of everything from the ala carte menu. Apparently, Takumi Tokyo specializes in robatayaki and teppanyaki.

First Year Wedding Anniversary_Misterchewy Birthday 032

Shortly after placing our order, We were served Otoshi ($6), which we mistook as a complimentary appetizer.

First Year Wedding Anniversary_Misterchewy Birthday 034

We were pleasantly surprised when we ate the Pan Seared Foie Gras with Plum Wine Jelly ($35). The radish was sweet while the foie gras was nicely crisp on the outside and melt-in-the-mouth.

First Year Wedding Anniversary_Misterchewy Birthday 036

Like what missuschewy said on Instagram when she posted the picture: β€œFoie Gras so good I could have died and gone to heaven”. Yeah it was THAT good.

First Year Wedding Anniversary_Misterchewy Birthday 040

The Australian Kurobuta Pork Yuzu Pepper Sauce 120g ($30) came thinly sliced and was quite flavorful but we would prefer it to be more tender.

First Year Wedding Anniversary_Misterchewy Birthday 042

We wanted to order sashimi and Chirashi Sushi $38 but the restaurant manager advised us to go for either since both are highly similar, except that the latter comes with rice. There was quite a variety of raw fish and everything came in two slices, except for the prawn. Very value-for-money!

First Year Wedding Anniversary_Misterchewy Birthday 050-horz

We love sea urchin but the Hokkaido Scallops topped with Sea Urchin, Paprika Sauce ($28) didn’t wow us. The slightly sourish taste did not seem to fit in this dish.

First Year Wedding Anniversary_Misterchewy Birthday 059

Although the Grilled Lamb Rack Marinated with Apple Miso Sauce $25 was a bit salty, it was very tasty and was more tender than the Australian kurobuta pork.

We felt so shiok from eating the chirashi sushi that we decided to order the Assorted Sushi ($35) halfway through eating! The menu states that this features 7 pieces and 1 roll but it seems like we got an extra piece. Shiok! πŸ˜€

The chef deep-fried the prawn head from our chirashi sushi for us. Very crispy!

The rain ruined our plans but that didn’t rain on our parade. Dinner at Takumi Tokyo was a pretty impressive one! And before the clock strikes 12, I’d like to once again wish misterchewy Happy Birthday and Happy Wedding Anniversary! 今倩是九月九ζ—₯οΌŒζˆ‘δ»¬δΌšι•Ώι•ΏδΉ…δΉ…οΌ β™₯

The Chewys’ Traditional Chinese Wedding Preparations

photo (9)

Yay! Hubby Chewy and I will be celebrating our First Year Wedding Anniversary come this Sunday, on 9th September! Our ROM was held at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel last year. We didn’t want to throw our customary wedding banquet on the same day, hence we chose another date, which we think has a pretty nice number combination! πŸ˜› Anyway, I reckon we are the world’s #1 procrastinating couple so I’ve decided to ‘chart our progress’ in terms of our customary wedding preparations here. πŸ˜›

Our Progress

– Booked pre-wedding photography package inclusive of makeup artist
– Decided on date of photoshoot
– Finalized our customary wedding banquet venue
– Confirmed AD photographer, additional photographer and videographer
– Selected our bridal gowns, evening gowns and groom suits (Round One fitting passed!)

Things to be done!

– Badly in need of new hair color before photoshoot in October (misterchewy too!)
– Bridal nails (probably can wait a couple of days before our shoot)
– Decide on photoshoot wedding venues
– Photoshoot theme
– Props for outdoor photoshoot
– Wedding dinner theme
– Considering instant prints photographer or mobile booth with props for wedding dinner
– What else?! What else did I forget?! I’m sure I must have left out many things! :O

Haha ok I think that’s about it for now! To all the other wedding couples, please feel free to give advice or recommendations! Thank you πŸ™‚

The Coastal Settlement: Perfect Place for a Family Night Out

_MG_6622

My birthday posts seem to be never-ending! LOL. *Raises white flag* In recent years, my parents would ask me to choose where I wanted to celebrate my birthday and this time, I chose The Coastal Settlement (TCS)! Well, I have always wanted to check this place out but it’s quite inaccessible, unless you drive and know your directions well.

_MG_6615

THe journey to Changi from our place took us close to an hour by car. I was thinking to myself that thank goodness I didn’t attempt to make a trip on my own! TCS is located along Netheravon Road (honestly, have you even heard of it?!) near Changi Beach Club and the old Changi hospital. The latter is kinda spooky but oh wells..

Mostly pictures in this post! πŸ˜›

There’s kinda like an area for kids to play! Cool right? πŸ˜€

Alfresco dining looks good too. But I’m not sure about the mozzies.

My parents used to go dating on my dad’s motorbike! Not Vespa la. Hahaha.

Drizzled with sweet and sour spicy sauce, the Coastal Wings and Drumlets ($14) are perfect for sharing! They were not overly fried and the meat was very tender.

_MG_6678

The Truffle Fries ($15) were a major let down though πŸ™ Couldn’t detect any hints of truffle oil and I don’t think they should serve truffle fries with their house tomato relish. On hindsight, we should have ordered the portobello fries, which I think would be served with truffle mayonnaise.

_MG_6679

We shared a plate of Calamari ($14) as well. The salt and peppered squid was actually kinda soggy but wasn’t too bad taste wise.

_MG_6686

TCS has quite a range of pizzas on their menu and we decided to have the Prosciutto & Arugula Pizza ($22). Thin biscuit like pizza base topped with 16 months aged prosciutto, baby tomatoes, mozzarella & cheddar, shaved parmesan cheese and arugula was deliciously savory. Strongly recommend this!

_MG_6723

My mum had the Nasi Lemak ($16) which is the most expensive plate of nasi lemak that I had ever come across. Besides the usual fried chicken and sunny side up egg, this came with tiger prawns too.

_MG_6712

The hubby and I chose cream based pastas and it was a pretty bad idea because we had major difficulty trying to finish our food. LOL. The Chicken Miso Carbonara ($22) wasn’t too bad. It’s something that can satisfy your creamy pasta craving. Felt that the sauce could be more savory though.

_MG_6708

I’m pretty sure that a good amount of truffle oil had been added into our Truffle Mushroom Fettuccine ($21)! We could smell it from a distance when it was being placed on our table. Anyway misterchewy and I are crazy over anything truffle right now! πŸ˜› This dish was superb and the mushrooms were really juicy. I would recommend this for sharing though. A little too creamy for me to finish this on my own. Even misterchewy was unable to do so!

_MG_6698

My brother stuck to the safe option of having Cod ‘N’ Chips ($26) which was served with thick cut fries, mesclun salad, wasabi tobiko mayonnaise.

The bill came up to about $300 which I hadn’t expect even though we ordered a considerable amount of food and drinks. In any case, just wanna thank my parents for this lovely birthday treat! πŸ™‚
