In July this year, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) opened the first ever Holiday Inn Express in Singapore, located in the heart of the country’s vibrant shopping district and entertainment hub, Orchard Road.
Holiday Inn Express Singapore Orchard Road is the first of two Holiday Inn Express hotels planned for Singapore during the brand’s rapid expansion across South East Asia. With so many hotels concentrated in Orchard, it is needless to say that travellers will inevitably be spoilt for choice.

I was invited to discover the Holiday Inn experience for myself and since misterchewy was working that day, I checked into the hotel on my own that morning. I wasn’t the least bit worried about not being able to locate the place since I had been told that Holiday Inn Express Singapore Orchard Road is situated in between The Heeren and Paragon. Talk about prime location!

Upon stepping into the hotel, I was warmly greeted with a smile at the 24-hour reception. Check-in procedure was straightforward, swift and hassle-free.

Our room was on the 15th floor, highest being the 16th. There are 221 queen-bedded and twin-bedded rooms with complimentary in-room wifi. In fact, the hotel offers free and fast Wi-Fi access throughout the hotel, so guests can stay connected all day, every day. In this day and age, not many of us can survive without Internet connectivity!

Holiday Inn Express’ STAY SMART concept revolves around making sure that every valued guest can expect a fuss-free and refreshing stay with guaranteed comfort and convenience at a reasonable price.

All rooms feature high quality bedding with pillow top mattress and duck down duvet.

Interestingly, guests have a choice of soft pillows..

..or firm pillows. We preferred the firm ones!

To my delight, there is also a comfy couch for people like me who abhors lying on the bed before taking a shower. To me, the bed is sacred. I’m not joking. Haha.

There are also 40 inch LCD televisions, ergonomic desk chairs and efficient work stations in every room.

I was quite surprised to find an un-stocked mini bar but honestly, with so many supermarkets and convenience stores around the vicinity, I would rather choose my own selection of drinks and snacks.

Holiday Inn takes pride in its green initiatives and Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium recently received the Singapore Green Hotel Award 2013.

Silly me, I was busy taking photos of the bathroom amenities and then realized in a state of shock that I had not seen the shower area. I was almost ready to believe that there could be another shared bathroom within the hotel.. until I saw the handle of the door! Phew!

Guests can recharge after a long day exploring Orchard Road by utilizing the refreshing power showers in the bathrooms with three-head massage showerhead.

There was a tour around the hotel and the first thing I noticed was “SMART is having your own set of wheels”. So there you have it, Holiday Inn Express provides trolleys for guests to conveniently wheel their luggages into their rooms.

Complimentary Express Start breakfast is made available at the Great Room.

There is also a Grab & Go option for guests who do not have the luxury of sitting down to enjoy their breakfast. More on this later.

On the 4th floor of the hotel, a compact meeting facility for 12 persons can be booked, subject to availability.

The self-service laundry and and ironing facilities are also located on the 4th floor.

After the tour, I bought McNuggets’ meal at Cineleisure, which was about a 10-minute walk away, and enjoyed a quiet lunch in the comfort of the hotel room.

Watched a couple of movies while resting on the couch before meeting misterchewy, misstamchiak and her fiancé for dinner. There will be a separate post for this!

Breakfast ends at around 10am each day and we made sure that we got there by 9.30am.

Besides the usual coffee and tea, you can also have hot chocolate. Kids will definitely love this.

This is the Grab & Go breakfast option which consists of a cup of hot beverage, muffin and fruit. Busy guests don’t have an excuse for skipping breakfast. Very thoughtful of the hotel!

Packed our stuff and spent a relaxing moment in the room before checking out at 12pm.

The new Holiday Inn Express Singapore Orchard Road is the smart choice for savvy travellers who are looking for the best location combined with the best value. The Smart Stay experience offers value-conscious guests everything they need and nothing they don’t. We personally felt that everything that was provided during our stay was adequate and we were very satisfied!

Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay Staycation Blog Review

Happy long weekend chewys! I’m back with a new blog entry! If you have read our previous post, you should have anticipated today’s hotel staycation review ya 🙂 The husband and I enjoyed a one night stay at Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay, a splendid 4 stars hotel situated in the heart of Singapore.

Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay features over 400 rooms which had been recently upgraded, each with a magnificent and amazing view of the Marina Bay, Singapore River, and also the spectacular city skyline of Singapore. We had the luxury of staying in a Premier room on the 22nd floor which is extremely spacious, complete with a balcony which can be accessed upon request for the sliding doors to be unlocked.

One substantial enhancement of the hotel was the discontinuation of queen sized beds such that there were only king sized beds even in Novotel’s smallest rooms.

All rooms have been designed to Novotel’s latest standards offering state of the art amenities. I was busy taking photos while misterchewy entertained himself by browsing channels on the LCD televisions with easy media connectivity panel. Oh did I mention that there is complimentary high-speed WiFi too?

Some of the snacks available but are chargeable. FYI, 7-Eleven is conveniently located just downstairs.

The bathroom is also quite spacious. I wish I had my wide angle lens with me 😛

It was nice having a staycation at Clarke Quay for a change! So many pubs and clubs in the area and you don’t have to worry that much about getting drunk because all you need to do is stagger a little to get back to Novotel. Hahaha.

We got to enjoy the MBS laser show as well. We could have watched the NDP preview fireworks display too but the husband had already made reservations for dinner. Boohoo.

Premier room guests get to enjoy Premier Floor benefits all day, such as having access to the newly-upgraded Premier Lounge, complimentary American breakfast, WiFi, express check-in / check-out and complimentary use of the boardroom for those all- important business meetings and cocktail hours complete with free flow drinks and canapes every evening. Premier guests have the option of having breakfast at this Premier Lounge or The SQUARE on level 7, or maybe both if you have the stomach for it.

I admit that I was lazy to get out of bed and told misterchewy to eat breakfast on his own 😛 He chose to have breakfast at the Premier Lounge. We had been to The SQUARE for a brunch tasting last year and the husband concluded that the variety was much wider there even though the Premier Lounge was more exclusive.

Movenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa Singapore Staycation Blog Review

Whoohoo! The husband and I were lucky enough to win a two-night stay on Sentosa Island after getting the most number of votes for an Instagram contest, thanks to the support from our friends and readers. It was our very first staycation at Sentosa, and also our first local hotel stay of 2013! 😀

The hotel was not revealed in the intial stage, but only after I won the contest. Was hoping W Hotel or Capella but I was also contented with Mövenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa la! 😛 We chose to split our stay so we only stayed for one night. Will be going there again a couple of months later! We like how convenient it was because the hotel is located right next to the Sentosa Express monorail station. Highly recommend this hotel to all, especially tourists visiting Sentosa! You can also get to take tons of photos with our iconic Merlion YO!

The hotel reception was actually located downstairs and one of the female service staff promptly took our bags from us and led us the way to do our check-in at the counter.

We were given a room on the sixth floor, which is also the top floor.

Immediately after we putting down all our stuff, we headed to Tanjong Beach Club in our beach wear for some drinks and truffle fries. Oh yeah, all guests staying in Mövenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa are given complimentary monorail passes in case you wanna get out of Sentosa during your stay. Appreciate the thoughtful gesture!

The only thing we did other than eat at Tanjong Beach Club was to fall asleep on the sand for about half an hour (believe me, it was not part of the plan) and then we returned to our room to shower and change. Didnt have time for other beach activities because we had a dinner tasting at about 6-ish.

Let me give you guys a little virtual tour of our hotel room! Ours was a 30sqm Deluxe Room with a king size bed, which felt reasonably spacious for the both of us, as evident in this photo. The room features natural wood furnishings and warm neutral colors which create a calm and tranquil atmosphere.

The LCD flat-screen television comes with Bluetooth connectivity but our only gripe is that wifi is chargeable.

The granite bathroom is equally spacious and has a contemporary vibe which I like.

With a see-through bathroom door like that, I think it’s gonna be awkward for non-couples to be staying together. At least there is a separate shower room (pictured above) but that would mean you have to change in and out of your clothes in the shower room which can be a tad inconvenient.

I find that granite is a good idea because its coarse-grained texture gives relatively more friction as compared to some bathroom floors.

Dim Sum in the toilet? No laaaa. It’s cute though! Guess what’s inside? 🙂

The bamboo steam baskets contain bathroom amenities like toothbrush, toothpaste, cotton bud, etc.

The loofah certainly came in handy in scrubbing away the suntan oil which we had applied earlier.

Besides the standard minibar and complimentary bottled water, there is also a Nespresso machine, a CitiZ 110 – Fire Engine Red, to be exact.

Pulling out the drawer reveals an array of drinking utensils. Nice to find wine glasses in there because you will need them if you are celebrating special occasions over a bottle of wine!

I’m not addicted to caffeine and coffee has absolutely no effect on me. Not sure if that’s a good thing but oh wells. Made a cup of coffee for the fun of it 😛

The yukata matches the bedroom slippers. Cute huh?

Featuring my OOTD! Bought this navy blue maxi dress sometime back but didn’t get the chance to wear it. There’s a peekaboo area around the small of my back. Hahaha. Since we’re on the topic on clothes, Zalora is having a GSS meltdown sale on over 8000 items, and up to 80% off! Often times, I find myself browsing through not just the women’s clothes collection but men’s as well because the clothes are really fashionable and trendy.

Not forgetting misterchewy’s OOTD! Love the color combination.

This is the view of the swimming pool that greeted us the moment we stepped out of our room and looked down. I immediately went, “Wah! So nice leh!”

And so, we went down to check out the swimming pool.

The gymnasium looks well-equipped.

We took one of the Sentosa feeder buses to Quayside Isle and it was our first time there! Kill two birds with one stone since we were already at Sentosa.

Such a pretty sight in the late evening! Kinda like Keppel Bay.

Our dinner tasting was at Museo, which will be featured separately in another blog post 🙂

Earlier in the day, we were toying with the idea of catching a late night movie at VivoCity but decided against it because old people wanna go back and sleep liao. LOL. Anyway, we thought that the Merlion looked kinda scary here! Hahaha! Wonder what would tourists think if they came here at night.

Was quite amazed that the Merlion changes into a myriad of different colors at night! This is my favourite color!

Showered and hit the sack! The husband and I slept really really soundly. Mine was quite extreme because I had a horrible nightmare. Shall not tell you what I dreamt about but I was crying in my sleep! Woke up and almost drowned in my own ocean of tears. I’m not exaggerating. On a positive note, it shows that the bed was really too comfy that I just continued crying and crying in my sleep, not being able to wake up earlier. LOL. The best part was waking up next to misterchewy and discussing if we should go for a swim or eat breakfast first.

We decided to eat breakfast first because the buffet closes at 10am! A copy of The Straits Times was found at our door. Can catch up on the news while having breakfast!

Breakfast buffet was at Mövenpick’s flagship restaurant, Tablescape.

The full International buffet includes an egg station and in keeping with the hotel’s promise to deliver the best of Swiss hospitality to guests, diners can also select from the Chef’s a la minute menu options.

The egg omelette was really good! We will definitely eat this again the next time!

Equally worthy of mention are the roasted potatoes, sausages and sautéed mushrooms! Mushrooms were so delicious that I had seconds!

The husband offered to take a photo of me but I refused because my eyes were kinda swollen from crying. FML. Later people think I siao. Go staycation should be happy why cry until like that. LOL. Ok la you will see some photos of me later 😛

Perfect weather for a morning swim! 😀

Towels are provided so you don’t have to bring along the towels from your hotel room.

No goggles also can swim! Don’t play play. I started learning how to swim when I was four years old and I have a National Survival Swimming Award (Gold). Ok la don’t haolian already 😛

Grand Park Orchard Hotel Singapore Staycation Blog Review

Hola chewy chewy friends! The kind folks from Park Hotel Group invited misterchewy and I for a staycation experience review at Grand Park Orchard Hotel about two weeks ago! Guess what? This is our fourth staycation this year! 😀

Grand Park Orchard is situated in the heart of town, right smack in the middle of where all the bustling activity is! Its strategic location makes it a very popular hotel choice among locals and tourists because there are so many shopping centres nearby. Do you know that the hot and half naked bodies of the A&F guys are just downstairs?!

Lobby is on the 4th floor and Grand Park Orchard’s hotel ambassador had already positioned himself outside the lift, waiting to greet us with his dazzling smile. We were promptly showed to our room on level 9.

We were given an ultra swanky room with high speed Internet access simply by logging in with my name and the password written on the card.

Our 29 to 32sqm Premium Room was simply gorgeous! We love the floor-to-ceiling glass windows which gave the lofty room a more dramatic and posh feel. And not forgetting the artistic designer wall mural! <;3 – sure beats turning up to the office in downtown Singapore!

A large glass window for your viewing pleasure. Oh no I meant that you could soak in the tub and watch TV at the same time! What a brilliant idea! 😉

Can the hotel be any more generous than this?! It’s as though someone went grocery shopping at the supermarket and picked up every single variety of fruit that she saw. If you like fruits, good for you! If you don’t, I’m very sure there must be something on that plate that you will fancy.

I was telling misterchewy that if the bath tub looks enticing enough, we could go shop for a nice shower gel for our bubble bath 😛

I knew I didn’t have to worry about misterchewy feeling bored about being left alone because the reclining sofa (not sure what’s the exact term for it) looked really comfortable and he was already glued to the LCD TV.

Oh let’s backtrack a bit. The hubs wore another set of clothing when we travelled to the hotel and he wanted to change into the set which I had picked out and packed for him. However, the shirt had some creases and I took the chance to use the iron and ironing board in our room to prove my caliber as a good wife. *AHEM*

The fridge certainly is very well-stocked with most of our favorite drinks in there!

Takashimaya Shopping Centre is just across the street! I told you Grand Park Orchard’s location is awesome, didn’t I?

Our outfit of the day! Both our clothes were gotten during our recent trip to Bangkok. I wore a light yellow dip hem maxi dress and paired a metallic gold bangle to go along with it. Cheery colors! 😉 The hubs is usually seen wearing jeans because he works as an engineer so I made him wear shorts this time. Totally love the white long sleeved shirt with navy blue anchor prints that I chose for him! 😀

We were totally famished and decided walk over to Mandarin Gallery for late lunch at Ippudo because misterchewy was craving for ramen.

We were walking around aimless and then misterchewy suggested that we go to *SCAPE to catch some toys! But nothing caught my eye 🙁 Or am I too old for this? LOL.

*SCAPE is also one of the more popular locations for casual outdoor wedding photoshoot! I’m giving you people some ideas ok? 😛 Oh yeah, misterchewy was carrying a Sephora paper bag because we bought a really sweeeeet smelling shower gel! 😉

Was tired from all that walking and decided to head back to our hotel room for a short rest before dinner. Took a mini tour around first. The gym faces the swimming pool so if you need some motivation on the treadmill, there you have it! 😛

How nice and thoughtful of the hotel to supply gym goers with towels, bottled water and energy drinks. Yes the energy drinks are free!

I think I had stretched my walking limits and was really eager to head back. Sky was turning dark too, from what we see when we reached our room.

LOL! The hubs was already waiting for me to turn around when I was done with taking photos and was waving at me from the toilet. He then proceeded to act as though he was surprised. -_-

Besides the hotel stay, we were also welcome to try the dinner buffet at Open House Restaurant.

After dinner, we decided to take a long leisurely stroll outside Grand Park Orchard and soak in the Christmas atmosphere! The entire Orchard Road lights up beautifully at night.

At last! I’m as tall as misterchewy! Hahaha.

Time to chill out with some drinks at Bar Canary, which is located on the same floor as the lobby.

Shall tell you guys more about the drinks we had in the next post 🙂

Earlier in the day, we stopped by Sephora at Takashimaya and bought this Caramel Toffee bubble bath and shower gel. There were about 10 different ones for us to choose from. We smelled every single one and this is the one we liked best! Highly recommended if you and your partner like really sweet scent. A bottle costs only $15 and we used a third which was more than enough 😀

The hotel provides bedroom slippers and bathrobes too. So there’s no need for you to pack your pyjamas along for your staycation! The bedroom slippers are of really good quality and very comfy too.

Good morning sunshine! We were supposed to wake up at 8am but overslept and woke up at 9plus instead! :O By the time we got dressed and reached Open House downstairs, it was nearly 10am. Good thing the buffet line closes at 11am during weekends! Phew! Hey, we both agreed that our bed was really way too comfortable and we had a really good night’s sleep! 😀

Selection of bread and pastries are constantly being replenished. Everything is warm and toasty!

This was misterchewy’s favorite station! We had scrambled and poached eggs.

You can choose either plain or pork congee and various condiments are available.

Below are some of the a la carte buffet dishes that we had that morning. We were totally spoilt for choice and tried a bit from each station. My favorite dishes were the mee siam, eggs and waffles! 😀

After a hearty breakfast, we just wanted to laze in bed. Good thing it had been arranged for us to check out at 4pm instead! We borrowed Crazy Stupid Love DVD from the concierge at the lobby. There were many other movies but most were already loaned to other guests in the hotel. But it’s ok because I love romantic comedies! 😀

We had not watched Crazy Stupid Love before and had a really good laugh at some of the scenes. Ryan Gosling is sooooo suave and hawt! *Drools* 😛

The hubs continued to laze in bed and read soccer news on his iPad.

Made a cup of Gryphon Earl Grey Lavender tea from the mini bar for myself!

We found that a copy of The Sunday Times had been delivered to our room early in the morning. Decided to make myself comfortable on the reclining sofa and catch up on the news with my cup of hot tea in hand. 🙂

All in all, the husband and I had a pretty marvelous staycation at Grand Park Orchard and managed to spend quality time with each other over the precious weekend. Currently, Grand Park Orchard is having a Christmas Escapade promotion from 15th to 30th December. Receive your last night free simply by staying for 3 consecutive nights or more! There’s no better way to spend Christmas with your loved ones than a luxurious staycation at Grand Park Orchard. 😉

Wanderlust Hotel Singapore Staycation Blog Review

Happy birthday to me! Over the weekend, my dear misterchewy planned a birthday surprise and he checked us into Wanderlust Hotel which was conceptualized by Singaporean boutique hotelier Loh Lik Peng. I really have to admit that after our staycations at Porcelain Hotel and Oasia Hotel, we are indeed hooked on to this whole staycation idea in Singapore! Additionally, it’s extremely fun to explore certain parts of Singapore that you are not familiar with. We cabbed around most of the time 🙂

Since the standard check-in time was at 2pm, we had a simple and light lunch at Plaza Singapura’s Itacho.

Wanderlust Hotel is located in Little India, more specifically along Dickson Road and it’s quite near Sim Lim Square. It is a boutique hotel which draws people like misterchewy and myself, who want a totally new and refreshing experience from their hotel stay. There are four thematic levels of 29 rooms. We stayed in a Whimsical room on level 4 and we strongly recommend this for a fantasy-filled experience! 🙂 There are five varying themes, ‘Bling’ , ‘ASCII’, ‘Space’, ‘Tree’ and ‘Typewriter’.

Later on (after much grilling), I found out that the hotel had earlier promised a birthday cake but when misterchewy emailed to confirm two days before we checked in, they could only provide a birthday cookie instead. Lol. The room decorations cost him quite a bit.

Yuppp! Our room is a two-storey room! There’s a staircase like OMGEE. As mentioned earlier, we stayed in a Whimsical room on level 4. These rooms are about 20-32sqm. Our room is a Space themed one! It’s super nice and super romantic~~~! 😀 😀 😀

The stairs are a little narrow though! Plus the room is dark at night so you really gotta watch your step. Parents with young tots have to keep a close watch ya? 🙂

I can’t stop emphasizing how r-o-m-a-n-t-i-c the Space themed room is! There are even ‘twinkling stars’ in our room! 😀

We spent quite a bit of time camwhoring in our room before moving off to our next destination which is at Hougang! We took a cab down and reached in about 15 minutes.

I thought I should be nice and give misterchewy a little break from too much planning so I signed both of us up for a Terrarium Workshop the day before our staycation. I know it’s very last minute arrangement but it was a perfect decision! I reckon it’s a very unique couple bonding and dating activity, so I will definitely be sharing more on this in a separate blog post 🙂

Since we had a couple of hours to kill before dinner, we decided to loiter around the area so that we didn’t have to travel too much. Dinner would be at Chinatown 🙂

And yeah, what other dating activities are there besides eating, shopping and watching movies?! We headed to K Ki and shared two slices of cakes! 😀 It was misterchewy’s first visit and he loved the souffle cheescake 🙂 The chocolate cake was good too!

I’m back here again after two years 😀 The owner, Delphine, told us that her baby girl is 15 months old now!

Did more walking up and down Ann Siang Hill to burn off the extra calories. Hahaha!

Before returning to our room, we went to level 2 to check out the jacuzzi. Look look see see only because we didn’t bring swimwear.

Rain shower. The bath amenities provided are from Kiehl’s. The hubby liked the fragrance from the Kiehl’s shampoo and shower gel so maybe it’s time for me to pamper him huh? Haha. And nope, we are not showing pics of us enjoying our bubble bath this time 😛

The view of the room at night and in the morning is actually similar since the curtains are drawn shut. So, we fell asleep to a night sky full of stars and woke up seeing stars. A very very lovely experience I would say! :))

The next morning, we went down to Cocotte on level 1 for breakfast. Room rates are inclusive of semi-buffet breakfast over here.

After breakfast, we prepared to check out of our room and spent the last 30 minutes doing some last minute camwhoring. LOL.

Oasia Hotel Singapore Staycation Blog Review

Hot on the heels of our blog post on The Chewys’ very first Singapore staycation, we have lined up another mega blog post filled with many photos taken during the 1st Year Anniversary Party and staycation at Oasia Hotel! The party was very fun and lively; with lots of cocktails and chocolates to go around. As for the staycation, we are summing up our experience in three words: awesome, impressive and exclusive! 😀

Oasia Hotel is situated in the heart of the charming Novena enclave, just a stone’s throw away from shopping malls, Novena Square Velocity and Square 2, as well as the Novena MRT Station. Talk about extreme convenience and accessibility! Since it was a little early for us to check-in, we settled our lunch at Square 2’s Sakae Sushi before crossing the link bridge over to Oasia. At about 2pm, we proceeded straight to Level 22 because that’s where the check-in/check-out is done for Oasia Club rooms or suites guests.

The club room that we stayed in for the night is on the 24th floor, highest being the 25th. The room features understated modern decor, subtle hues of nature-inspired elements and ambient lighting that will soothe one’s senses.

All Oasia Club Room guests will also enjoy very exclusive privileged access to The Living Room and its pool facilities on the 22nd floor, as well as complimentary breakfast, cocktail and all-day coffee, tea, juices, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks at The Living Room, complimentary one piece of suit pressing per stay (non accumulative) and daily newspapers.

There’s even stationery! It’s all the little things and personal touches like these that are both welcoming and intuitive, which left us impressed.

We love listening to music and we were grinning from ear to ear upon seeing the iPod/iPhone docking machine! 😀

Most hotel rooms only have like two or three pin power point sockets so it was pleasant to have this USB power socket. One USB cable does the trick of charging all your electronic devices like your camera, mobile phone and MP3 player. At least it works for me! Imagine the hassle of having to bring ten different chargers for all your devices. 😛

All Oasia Club rooms are equipped with unlimited broadband access. Here’s misterchewy calling the reception to find out what’s the correct ‘last name’ to key in together with our room number, in order to log onto the WIFI network.

If you want a hot drink, there’s also Nespresso coffee-making facilities! 😀

Not a fan of coffee? There’s Naturalis tea!

We went, “Whoaaaaa!” In this wardrobe, there are bath robes, bedroom slippers, iron with ironing board, and even a large umbrella! Very thoughtful indeed!

And here comes the part many would be concerned about, other than the bed. Bath tub on the left, rain shower on the right!

I first had the chance to use these bath amenities from Thann when I stayed in one of the hotels in Taiwan. Madly in love with the aromatic wood scent!

Everything that you need, it’s in there! Toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, shaver, showering cap, cotton buds, loofah, etc!

Heh heh heh. You can derive a little bit of fun and excitement from watching your partner shower! 😛 The blinds can be operated with a simple click in the bathroom.

Same goes for the blinds and shades in the room! We were greeted by a very breathtaking view of the city! Basically, the husband and I just sat on the ledge and admired the sight for a good 10 minutes 🙂 Haha but of course, we had to pull down the blinds after a few minutes because it was getting kinda hot! 😛

As we had a couple of hours to kill before the event, Hubby Chewy and I went for a little tour around the hotel! Went to level 8 first.

The swimming pool looks very nice right! I like the ‘feel’!

There’s a jacuzzi too!

The gymnasium is located on level 8 too. Not very big but it has a handful of cardio machine like the treadmill and stationary bike. Those who are on an endurance or strength training regime can make use of the free weights and the all-in-one machine!

And now, level 22! Over here, Oasia Club room guests get to enjoy very exclusive benefits and be pampered like kings and queens!

Tadah! This is The Living Room! Very nice place to chill out!

We pushed past the glass door and stood in awe in front of this very beautiful infinity pool which boasts a magnificent view of the city! Oh man, I wish I could jump right in! Anyway, this is only open to club room guests!

This jacuzzi looks way bigger than the one we saw at level 8!

How relaxing it is to just lie here and enjoy a glass of orange juice as you get your dose of Vitamin D! Just remember to apply sunblock! 😛

Hey hey hey! That’s not all to it. Light bites by the pool are available for club guests between 6-8pm at the Club Lounge. If you are like me who gets hungry after a swim, you should rejoice to this! 😛

Since the event was scheduled to start at 7pm and we didn’t have time for dinner, we ate a bit from the spread.

We are now ready to party! I love how these glasses are being made use of here. Brilliant!

I met winner of Project Superstar Season 2, Daren Tan Sze Wei!

Turns out that he’s the Sales and Marketing Director of Naturalis! Their products include teas, jams, spreads, honeys and sauces.

The bartender was preparing the welcome drink for everyone, which made use of products from Naturalis.

Summer’s Bouquet is a lovely concoction of vodka, elderflower syrup, Singapore Sling tea, lemon and ice cubes!

I’m sure everybody present that night enjoyed the exclusive Chocholatier Masterclass conducted by Mr Geoffroy Maubon, who’s the first barista of Monbana!

I can’t recall the name of this drink but I loveeee its color very much! My favorite color 😛

Next up was the highlight for the night, the unveiling of Oasia’s signature cocktail drink! It has also been very aptly named, “L22“.

Since we were there to celebrate Oasia’s 1st year anniversary, we couldn’t go without a massive birthday cake topped with macarons that brought about surprised gasps from the awe-stricken audience!

We called it a night after singing the birthday song and grabbing a piece of macaron! What a night! 😀

Hahaha I kinda sabo-ed misterchewy to be interviewed instead of me doing the job because I’m camera shy! Oops! 😛

Back in our room. LOL! I told misterchewy I’m gonna do a test shot and he did this pose. Super cheeky la!

Oh yes, after the event ended, I was feeling kinda hungry and we hopped over to Novena Square. It’s that convenient! Had a craving for sashimi, as usual, and we grabbed some from Cold Storage. Half price somemore. Hahaha!

Face masking time for us! I swear we friggin look like Alien Workshop! LOLOLOL.

The bed was way too comfy and we decided to just lie there watching Titantic on our iPad! 😀 😀 😀

I can’t believe I got hungry again towards the end of the movie! Hubby Chewy then suggested that we order something from the supper menu that’s available from 11pm to 5am by calling room service! He had the fries while I was contented with my mushroom soup with truffle oil.

Time for bed! A couple who brushes their teeth together, stays together. Hahaha! 😛

We had a very good sleep and woke up to the rhythmic pitter patter of raindrops against the window pane early next morning. 🙂

Nothing beats lazing in bed with your loved one while listening to music from the iPod docking machine! It was fabulous! We played songs from Rita Ora, Katy Perry, The Wanted, Jayesslee, Jay Chou and many more. 😀 😀 😀

The husband and I have a thing for having breakfast in the hotel. Good thing we remembered to tick the items that we wanted and hung our order on the door knob before we slept the night before.

I don’t have much of an appetite in the morning and settled for the mini pancakes and some cornflakes while misterchewy had a hearty American breakfast with bacon and poached eggs!

Woots! Breakfast is served! No words can explain how blissful we felt 😀

Porcelain Hotel Singapore Staycation Blog Review

Whoohoo! I’m finally blogging about the AWESOME STAYCATION that misterchewy and I had over the long Easter holiday! So what is a ‘Staycation’? Credits to Google: A vacation spent in one’s home country rather than abroad, or one spent at home and involving day trips to local attractions. It was definitely a first for us, and we are not counting our previous stay at Grand Copthorne Waterfront as a staycation because we merely checked in for the night right after our ROM and checked out the very next morning. I somehow realized that there is this ‘staycation trend’ lately, and have always thought that it’s ridiculous to spend money staying in a hotel when you have your own comfortable bed to sleep in. One fine day, I came across The Porcelain Hotel which is a boutique hotel and decided to test out the experience there! Yours truly booked the Queen Executive room for a night and it was also meant to be a surprise for the hubby. I was so excited that I started planning our activities two weeks before! 😀 😀 😀

Hehehe our OOTD was matching leopard prints top and jeans! I don’t really like to wear jeans but this time I made an exception. The name necklace was a gift from the hubby during Valentine’s Day! 😀

We woke up really early for this. Brunch at Alkaff Mansion! The place is gorgeous! More photos later 😛

Our new iPad! Haha the funny thing is, misterchewy had been pestering me endlessly about it. I didn’t see the point in getting one but gave in anyway. Guess what? He paid for it but it’s mine now because Hubby Chewy said that my BB’s keypad is not functioning properly. 😀 *Soooo touched* And I love what’s engraved on it! 😉

Hubby Chewy knew that he wanted the Alkaff Breakfast Set ($14.80) the moment he had his hands on the menu. He’s decisive like that sometimes! 😛

I can’t remember when was the last time I had pancakes!

It was an instant pancakes-craving-finally-satisfied moment when I ate the first half of my Banana Hot Cakes ($12.80). Thick, fluffy pancakes drizzled in blueberry sauce with sweet banana slices sandwiched in between, I knew that I did not wake up early that morning in vain. However, my appetite seemed to have shrunk recently and I was struggling to finish the pancakes.

I had planned another outfit but a couple of days before the staycation, I saw this top on display and stood gaping at it. LOL! I grabbed misterchewy’s arms and went, “OMG! Can totally match your t-shirt!”

This is really beautiful! I bet it would be nice to sit here and read a book while enjoying the cool breeze.

The fountain attracted many little kids who happily splashed water with their hands!

This huge rocking chair is way too cute! If only we could have this in our home! 😛

Apparently, we couldn’t find anyone to help us take photos and decided to put our camera on self-timer mode.

It started to drizzle right after this shot! Talk about perfect timing.. 😉

Whoa. Look at this. Stunning isn’t it? I love most of the photos posted on the hotel’s website and facebook page, which led me to the decision in booking a night’s stay here! 🙂

Check in time is anything after 2pm. We arrived at 12plus and decided to try our luck! And yes, our room was ready! 😀

Our Queen Executive room was located on the fifth floor which also happens to be the highest floor. The corridor was really dark and kinda creepy. :S

The reviewers sure weren’t kidding when they commented that the rooms are insanely small. Can you believe that this is an Executive room? This was what greeted us when we opened the door. Like, so in-your-face. Not for the claustrophobic puh-leeze. I was really upset and misterchewy phoned the reception. It turns out that the pictures I saw on their facebook page are taken at the new wing, which is not available yet. Plus there’s no bath tub! *Cheat my feelings* Hubby Chewy checked that we could upgrade to either a room with jacuzzi or the theme suite at an additional $50++ or $80++ per night respectively.

As I was still reeling from shock, Hubby Chewy said, “Ok la let’s go for the best. Theme Suite ok? I treat you to the upgrade.” 😀 😀 😀

The first thing that we saw upon entering was not a bed, but a couch.

Although it’s not written all over my face, I was really stunned to see a staircase in our room! Haha!

Our Theme Suite is about 43 square meters. If I didn’t remember wrongly, the Queen Exec is about 13 to 14 square meters. Tremendous difference yo!

There’s free WIFI! Hmm I think this would benefit tourists more.

THIS. Yes this made my jaw drop and I actually squealed out loud in excitement. LOL.

The bath tub is situated behind the bed, partitioned by the mirror and basins. So it’s like u can soak yourselves in the tub while enjoying the air-con yo! Machiam hot spring during winter! 😀

Haha aiya misterchewy also excited lor. 😛

Time to check out the fridge! Heh 😛 Well, there’s nothing except for two bottles of water. Good thing they chilled it for us!

Like I said earlier, I had our activities all planned out! Decided to go to My Waterway @ Punggol (also known as Punngol Waterway) because it was along the NEL. Seemed like it rained before we arrived!

Haha seriously, we were laughing at this staircase. No idea where or what does it exactly lead to..

This pose was not exactly a deliberate attempt on my part. I was feeling tired and wanted to sit down.. and hence this! 😉 Hehehe misterchewy was teaching me some ‘leading lines’ photography composition and he took this photo to show me an example. Ok la I think got a bit 😛

*Cues “Wa meng ti! Wa meng ti!” song* HAHAHA! I should photoshop some dark clouds and a storm but I don’t know how! 😛

I think we are starting to look more and more alike. >;_<; LOL!

It was our first time here and we were kinda surprised that there weren’t many people even though it was a weekend. Everyone’s busy shopping, perhaps? We saw a Malay couple having their wedding shots taken there and a couple of joggers. Plus a few lone rangers. That’s about it I think.

I can’t believe I actually shouted, “Look! Got coconut tree!” Damn fail. But it does look like one, no? 😛

This was where we deviated from the original plan! We had wanted to go to Chomp Chomp for early dinner like at around 4plus but the place opens only at 6pm! Hungry us found ourselves at Ramen Champion at Iluma 😀

Went back to the hotel after dinner. We found another ‘secret’ entrance to the hotel! Nobody mans the counter over here. Haha! It’s me again, holding up the new room card this time 😛

The weather was really quite humid and the first thing we did was to take a nice long shower! We used the hotel’s shampoo and bath gel. Bought the facial wash and hair conditioner at Bugis after dinner! Ok the thing that I like is that there is a wide enough ledge where I can place all our toiletries on!

We had been eagerly looking forward to this! A week before, I pulled misterchewy along to choose the scents he like or didn’t like because he’s quite fussy. We went to Marks & Spencer but nothing appealed us. Found this Bodycology Vanilla Cupcake Shower Gel & Foaming Bath in a small shop and the moment we took a whiff, we knew this was the one! Very very candy-sweeeeet-smelling! Vanilla cupcake mah! 😛 We poured the entire bottle under running water! The water was only slightly hotter than lukewarm. But we enjoyed it a great deal nonetheless! 😀

Everyone should indulge in some bubble bath fun with your partner! 😛 Our tub was able to fit two, even though misterchewy’s legs are quite long and he had to bend his knees a bit. Haha. We talked, laughed, splashed water at each other and sipped beer till our fingers turned into prunes! 😀

Ok this photo should come last but nevermind. Just wanted to let everyone know that I really liked how the sunlight shone into our room through the roof! No need for alarm clock! Hahaha.

Hope everyone enjoyed reading about The Chewys’ first staycation! Definitely not going to be our last! Soooo fun! Lalalalala~ We are looking forward to our next staycation! 😉

Grand Copthorne Waterfront: Spending Our First Night Together As Mr & Mrs Chew :)

The weekend passed by in a flash, with the actual solemnization at Grand Copthorne Waterfront and solemnization party for another group of relatives at Home TeamNS Pasir Ris chalet occurring over two successive nights. I will be posting the photos taken on 9 Sept here as soon as our photographer is done!
9 September is also misterchewy’s birthday, which makes our wedding extra special 🙂

We rolled into bed way past midnight and were feeling lazy to get dressed for the buffet breakfast the next morning 😛 Tried our luck by calling room service and they agreed to take our orders for breakfast even though we should have done so before 6am I think. I’m not sure if we had this special privilege because we were “The Wedding Couple” but we were appreciative of all nice gestures.

Our American Breakfast spread! Not forgetting our beloved Tofu Oyako toys which accompanied us throughout our pre-marital journey 😀

Mr Chew and I chose poached eggs with chicken sausages, bacon and hash brown. While eating, the both of us realized that there wasn’t any hollandaise sauce! Hahaha 😛

Our bread basket which consisted of muffins, croissant, and danish pastries. It was a pity that it was largely untouched because we were feeling rather full from our half eaten bowl of cereal and hot chocolate.
