Valentine’s Day Dinner @ Villa di Parma

_MG_2030

Wassup chewy chewy friends! How was Valentine’s Day for you? Hope that those of you who were initially single and available are all happily attached today! πŸ˜› This year’s Valentine’s Day fell on a weekday and as much as misterchewy and I would love to take a day off work to celebrate the occasion together, we didn’t because we had already applied for a considerable amount of annual leave for our honeymoon in a few weeks’ time. My OOTD was this black lacy dress from Hollyhoque! πŸ™‚

_MG_1983

This marks our 3rd year spending Valentine’s Day together, our 2nd as a married couple. It doesn’t feel like we have only known each other for 2 years plus, really. I think we got comfortable in each other’s presence really quickly. Anyway, I told misterchewy that I didn’t want a fanciful or extravagant celebration this year since we are already spending a bomb on our wedding banquet and honeymoon trip. And I need the extra moolah for my Chanel and Prada ah! πŸ˜›

_MG_1984

Left the husband to decide on our dinner location and he went ahead with Villa di Parma which is near Chomp Chomp. Very far from our workplace. Zzz. I was quite amused that misterchewy was more fascinated by the table setting than his Valentine. Lol.

_MG_1980ed

A bottle of wine would be too much for us so we only had a glass of white wine each ($10). Bad wine choice because it tasted really ‘siap’. Bleah.

_MG_1985

_MG_1993

This year, we also agreed on not buying gifts for each other but misterchewy surprised me about 15 minutes before lunch time with a bouquet of roses that had really nice pink glitter on the rose petals. He actually took a cab from his workplace in the North to mine in the West. Really appreciative of his effort and sweet gesture πŸ™‚

_MG_1994ed

Prior to making reservations at Villa di Parma, misterchewy read some reviews online and told me that the Calamari ($15.80) seemed to be a popular dish. I have to agree because squid was lightly coated with batter and deep fried in a way that retained the squid’s chewy texture. The calamari was served with marinara sauce dip (if I’m not wrong) which was something different as compared to the usual mayo.

_MG_1998

Our love for mushroom soup made us order a bowl of Crema Di Funghi ($7.80) each. It was certainly one of the best mushroom soup that I have tried so far. The consistency was neither too watery not too thick, it was just right and had small chunks of mushroom for added texture. Pine nuts had also been added. I don’t usually like pine nuts in my food for its slightly bitter taste but the addition of pine nuts gave the soup a balanced taste in all aspects.

_MG_2005

_MG_2008

We were asked if we wanted cream to be added to our Carbonara ($18.80) and that the authentic Italian carbonara is supposed to be dry. We opted for the dry version so as not to overwhelm ourselves with cream, cream and more cream. The spaghetti was cooked slightly past al dente and it was not overly creamy for us.

_MG_2016

We also shared the Smoked Duck Pizza ($24.80) and agreed that it wasn’t really fantastic. Maybe we should have ordered the smoked salmon pizza instead.

_MG_2027

Kinda full so we decided against ordering any desserts. The statement, “there is always room for desserts” still holds la. Haha.

_MG_2020

_MG_2022

It was just a simple celebration but I’m thankful for everything πŸ™‚

_MG_2043-001

Hahaha taken on the bus because we were sitting at the back and the bus was really empty πŸ˜›

_MG_2046-001

I don’t usually receive flowers from the husband because I keep telling him that flowers are a waste of money. Now, I have two bouquets in my office. πŸ˜€

_MG_2040ed

Cheers to many many more Valentine’s Days together!

The Chewys’ Guide to Valentine’s Day

_MG_3313

What comes right after Chinese New Year? Yes, Valentine’s Day! Rejoice because you should have collected enough angbao money just in time to splurge on this fabulous occasion! Yipee! Ummm.. But if you are giving out angbao instead then.. hmm nvm la πŸ˜› While The Chewys are not dating or love gurus, we would still like to share some ideas as to how to spend Valentine’s Day with The One this year! πŸ˜€ Please note that the following listed below are based on our personal tastes and preferences πŸ˜‰

Begin the Special Day with Brunch

_MG_2462

Nothing beats waking past noon together with your loved one and digging into some thick, fluffy blueberry pancakes the laid-back way at the charming and majestic Alkaff Mansion. Go for a stroll at Telok Blangah Hill Park after brunch!

Jiemei meetup @ Au Chocolat 012

If you wanna impress your date, take her to Au Chocolat at Marina Bay Sands. The eggs benedict smothered in dark chocolate infused hollandaise sauce are something unique. Remember to thank us if she happens to be a chocolate lover.

_MG_4836

Not a fan or eggs or pancakes? The Lawn at Biopolis serves really great tasting salads with a wide range of delicious grilled meat. The location might be a bit off, but hey, The Star Vista is just opposite!

Daytime Dating Activity

_MG_3445com

If you belong to the group who thinks that everyday is Valentine’s Day and prefer to spend it in a relaxing way, grab a kite and head down to Marina Barrage! Remember to slather on some sunblock!

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 420

Your date doesn’t like the sun? Well, there are plenty of indoor activities! The S.E.A. Aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa is certainly not to be missed! Be marvelled as the colorful fishes swim by~

DSC_1155

There’s always a first time for everything. Make your Valentine’s Day a memorable one by doing an indoor skydiving at iFly Singapore together! It might only be a few seconds of excitement in the wind tunnel but the memories are yours to keep for a lifetime.

Unwind with an Afternoon Tea

_MG_3827

Always remember, ladies love to be pampered. After a long day, take her to a cosy and dainty place such as Fullhouse Themed Restaurant. We’re sure that she will be thrilled for being treated like a princess.

Us @ Arteastiq

Located at Mandarin Gallery, Arteastiq gives a unique high tea experience in Orchard like no other! The famous apple cake and orange cake are some of their must-try items besides their dessert teas.

_MG_0446

Duxton Hill area at Tanjong Pagar has a number of eateries and cafes. If your lady has a sweet tooth, she is likely to say yes to the drunken Spanish sponge cake and churros at Sabio Tapas Bar & Restaurant. Oh, there are many bridal studios around the area. If you are ready to take your relationship to another level, you know what to do πŸ˜‰

Romantic Dinner for Two

_MG_3569

Try not to max out your stomach space during afternoon tea because this is where the important part comes. I’m sure you wanna make this really memorable for your special one right? One of our top picks for a romantic dinner for two is Backyard@Dempsey. You can totally be in a world of your own, surrounded by lush greenery around you. The atmosphere is casual and unpretentious so you and your date can really be yourselves and enjoy the moment! Toast to the occasion with a glass of Kronenbourg or two.

_MG_6693

Oh yeah, it’s the Kronenbourg again. Haha. In our opinion, the more inaccessible the dinner place is for special occasions like this, the more brownie points you score. The Coastal Settlement is kinda secluded but the truffle mushroom fettuccine makes the trip worthwhile.

_MG_6978

For exquisite Italian fare, Senso Ristorante & Bar is the place to go to. Don’t forget to open a bottle of wine and clink glasses! Psst.. Senso serves really awesome chocolate molten lava cake!

_MG_4101

Stellar at 1-Altitude is bound to burn a hole in your pocket but it’s only a small price to pay to make your date feel on top of the world. Don’t forget to dress to impress.

Ku De Ta Valentine's Day Tasting

Another very romantic dinner location is none other than KU DΓ‰ TA at Marina Bay Sands. From the 57th floor, the beautiful view of the city will take anyone’s breath away. After dinner, adjourn to the KU DΓ‰ TA club lounge and party the night away!

Staycation in Singapore

_MG_0189

This is not a must but a staycation in Singapore is one of the most romantic thing that a guy can plan for a girl and vice versa. Grand Park Orchard is very ideal considering that it is located along Orchard Road. You have the option of catching a midnight movie at Cineleisure or borrowing a DVD from the hotel which means you can snuggle up to your partner under the sheets πŸ˜‰

_MG_7113

For a romantic staycation experience like no other, Wanderlust Hotel is our favorite pick. There are various themed rooms but we reckon that the Space room is the best.

Just relax, be yourselves and have fun. Hope this gives everyone an idea or two about how to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year! Connect with us at our Facebook page and feel free to ask us any questions! πŸ˜€

Siloso Beach Party – Asia’s Largest Beach Countdown Party

Media Invite

IMG_1828

Happyyyyyyy 2013 chewy chewy friends! How was 2012 for you? Or should I first ask, how did you spend the last day of 2012? For misterchewy and I, we knew we wanted to spend new year’s eve in a more happening manner and have some fun counting down to the new year at a party instead of holing up ourselves at home! Thanks to Sentosa and SPRG, we were given a pair of tickets to the Siloso Beach Party, otherwise known as Asia’s largest and grooviest countdown party! πŸ˜€

IMG_1838

We reached there slightly after 10pm and it really did seem like some people had already started partying since 6pm!

IMG_1839

IMG_1843

For obvious reasons, we brought our little Canon point and shoot camera instead of the DSLR. The quality of the pics were.. not that great. Please let me know if you have any good compact camera to recommend!

IMG_1845

We could write our resolutions for 2013 on this huge board and misterchewy wrote, ” I <;;3 missuschewy". Is that even considered a resolution?! Maybe yes. LOL.

IMG_1847

Bought drinks along the way! I had Vodka Redbull while the hubs got himself a beer.

IMG_1848

IMG_1854

IMG_1858

IMG_1859

IMG_1893

IMG_1867

We got ourselves more drinks but this time, we had to purchase $50 worth of coupons and then exchange them for food and drinks, etc.

IMG_1869

Our Tequila Lime came in small little buckets! And for $12 each, the volume was very miserable. Haha.

IMG_1883

Everyone danced and danced and danced till it was 12am and we were treated to a fireworks display!

IMG_1874-horz

Thanks for being such a supportive and doting husband for the past year! Just like any other couples out there, we had our fair share of ups and downs but I’m glad we made it through. Definitely more ups than downs, which will be shared in our subsequent blog post! πŸ˜‰

IMG_1908

IMG_1904

Hungry after countdown (we didn’t eat dinner) so we decided to get some finger food which was ridiculously overpriced. $7 for takoyaki and $7 for a sausage and some lao hong chips?!

IMG_1905

We used up our remaining coupons by getting a cup of beer, which was overpriced too, at $12. Hahaha.

IMG_1911

There were actually five party zones but we stuck around at the Main Arena. The hubs was keen to go to the foam party but we didn’t bring an extra set of clothes so we decided against it.

IMG_1916

So that was how I spent the last day of 2012 with misterchewy. 2013, here we go! πŸ˜€

Resorts World Sentosa S.E.A. Aquarium on Christmas Eve!

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 389

Hope the long weekend had been a fantabulous one for all of you! Anybody took MC yesterday or even today? LOL. Ok jokes aside, I have decided to let this post jump queue because misterchewy planned a trip to Resorts World Sentosa S.E.A Aquarium on Christmas Eve for the both of us and I just want to share our experience with all of you! πŸ˜€

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 382

We were kinda putting things to the very last minute and good thing misterchewy suggested visiting the world’s largest oceanarium! He booked 1 day passes at $29 per adult the day before but the queue to board the monorail was madness!

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 395

Well, good things are worth the wait right? Hahaha. Omgee we were so so so excited! πŸ˜€ I was totally looking forward to this because my last time being so close to marine life is at least two years ago, when I last dived at Krabi. Ok la this one is different but still quite close. I used to keep a dive blog! Haha stopped updating in 2009 πŸ˜› My dream is to go scuba diving with misterchewy one day! I know he is reading this. πŸ˜›

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 415

Yay! The Chewys’ Christmas Eve date at RWS S.E.A Aquarium begins! :))

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 410

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 404

There was also a horseshoe crab in this tank which was totally cute. I was doing a half squat half kneel while taking photos when this little boy screamed, “HORSESHOE CRAB!” and he climbed and trampled over me. >_< Good thing he was really adorable so I didn't mind.

Heh heh I was famished but not craving for any kinda fish in particular! Everyone was giving a $5 voucher because not all of the fishes had been transported to the S.E.A Aquarium so I’m guessing this voucher thingy will be temporary. I got a tuna and egg mayo focaccia sandwich and a bottle of green tea to satisfy my hunger! Not a fan of ham so I chose tuna πŸ˜›

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 645

If you are feeling a little more extravagant, you can head to the Ocean Restaurant! They serve sustainable seafood πŸ™‚

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 656

Continuing with the rest of our tour!

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 659

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 663

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 669

You may choose to have your photo taken at the entrance against a plain backdrop and collect (plus pay for) it at the end of the tour! There’s a standard template for the photos.

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 679

Souvenirs and soft toys for everyone! Nothing caught my eye. Maybe I’m really too old for this. LOL.

RWS S.E.A Aquarium 674

Heh heh. So what do you guys think? Worth the $29 per person or not? Somemore got $5 voucher. LOL. The Chewys had a pretty mind-blowing experience at Resorts World Sentosa S.E.A. Aquarium and we believe people of all ages will love it as much as we did! πŸ™‚ Not sure if I have the time or energy to do a summary of 2012 blog post so this could be our last post of the year! Happy New Year in advance! πŸ˜‰

The Chewys’ Christmas Countdown 2012 at Butter Factory!

IMG_1779

Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas everbardy! Omg it’s freaking 3am as I’m typing out this post! Yes I’m still sober. This year, misterchewy and I decided to do a Christmas countdown at Butter Factory and we were decked in rather bright colors πŸ˜€

IMG_1774

IMG_1785

I’m currently staying over for about a month at misterchewy’s place and didn’t bring my nice nice clothes over. LOL. My OOTD was this chili red dress which was bought on the day itself at Topshop. I don’t usually shop at Topshop because I think it’s kinda overrated.

IMG_1794

I think I’m very jialat. Not only did I not pack my nicer clothes over, I only brought my super duper basic makeup stuff too. So misterchewy dragged me into SASA at Bugis Junction and I started to pick out my glitter falsies, liquid eyeliner and mascara πŸ˜› I’m spoilt! LOL. As you can see, I decided to go RED for our Christmas countdown.

IMG_1790

IMG_1792

Let the party begin! Whoohoo!

photo (15)

IMG_1799

The cover charge entitles us to 2 standard drinks which were not enough. Lol. Ordered a jug of Vodka with green tea and it tasted like we were only being given green tea. Really diluted to the max. Felt cheated D:

IMG_1814

I really had an awesome time dancing the night away with my Santa baby! Will be sharing more about our Resorts World Sentosa S.E.A Aquarium outing in our next post. Have a blast chewy chewy friends! Go out and have fun! It’s Christmas! πŸ˜‰

The Chewys’ Genting Adrenaline Junkie Challenge 2012 (Part Two)

Sponsored Trip

DSC02741

Yippee! It’s Friday, chewy chewy peeps! As promised in my previous post, I will be sharing our Genting Adrenaline Junkie Challenge experience in greater detail with all of you! I had also mentioned that I was actually quite nervous about having to go through all the thrill rides, especially when we also had to perform additional tasks while at it! Oh wells, a challenge has to be challenging. A few days before the trip, curiosity got the better of me and I started googling ‘genting adrenaline junkie challenge’ to see if I could get any info from the web. And I did! One of the more informative blog posts was written by Malaysian blogger and celebrunner, Runwitme and reading her story certainly got me even more excited, and yes, more nervous as well! Imagine having to blow a balloon while you are on the rollercoaster?!

DSC02754

The husband looked a little perturbed. LOL. I don’t know why. Probably as afraid as me?

DSC02739

Btw, this is the view from our room. Took a couple of shots before we went down for breakfast πŸ™‚

DSC02752

DSC02747

Breakfast buffet was at First World Cafe.

DSC02743

The buffet line was quite miserable but we weren’t complaining because it’s not like we wanted to stuff ourselves with food before going on all the thrill rides!

DSC02763

After a quick breakfast, we adjourned to the Genting International Convention Centre (GICC) for our briefing which started at around 9.30am.

DSC02761

DSC02771

There were 19 pairs of participants and each pair formed a team. The hubs and I belonged to Team 18! And we had to paint our faces omg! I was like, “Don’t draw so big ok!”

DSC02765

DSC02773

IMG_2057

All of us had to step forward to ‘claim’ our map. Basically, it was kinda like Amazing Race. All 19 teams had to complete the nine stations/rides located in the indoor and outdoor theme parks. No skipping of stations was allowed; we had to get on the ride, complete the task, get the station marshal to sign on the map and collect a piece of the jigsaw puzzle before moving on to the next stop. All our routes were different so we didn’t have everybody rushing to the same place at the same time.

DSC02778

All hell broke loose the moment it was announced that the challenge had officially started! LOL! We were given two hours to complete all rides and return to the GICC.

DSC02787

Whoohoo! The Chewys are just about to unleash the adrenaline junkies in them! Hahaha. Some of the photos in this post were taken with my Sony compact camera, while the rest were taken by some of the RWG people. πŸ˜‰

DSC02780

Our first station was the Spinner! We were lucky because it’s situated just in front of the entrance of the outdoor theme park. Only one of us had to sit on the Spinner. Both misterchewy and I were given a card each and we had to count the number of stars! It sounds easy but it’s not! Didn’t take photo of the card but it was madness! I think I counted until I saw stars!

DSC02783

Spot the yawning dude!

IMG_2060

We had to total up our number of stars and shout out the answer but our answer was wrong. Hahaha! And we were made to sing twinkle twinkle little star at the top of our lungs as a forfeit!

DSC02791

Our second station as drawn on the map given to us was the Corkscrew. This was one of my most dreaded thrill rides. My legs turned into jelly and I think my face turned pale as we approached the ride.

IMG_2139

Each time I sat on a roller coaster, this is my most hated part.

IMG_2140

And this too! Lol. Ok la not that I always go for such thrill rides anyway.

IMG_2075

Guess what?! Only one from each team had to go up on the ride while the other was tasked to drink 100Plus from a milk bottle. LOL! The hubs displayed his heroic side when the marshal asked, “Who’s going to sit?” and he shouted “ME!” without any hesitation πŸ˜€

IMG_2078

If I had to come up with a caption, it would be “sucking while corkscrewing”. Lol! Was that what the organizers had in mind when they paired this task with this ride?! Anyway, all of us had to finish the bottle of 100Plus before the ride ended. So just imagine all the girls sucking really furiously. Omg tough job.

DSC02788

Oh yay! I was the first to finish the entire bottle! The marshal was really strict. We weren’t allowed to leave even a single drop. Hoho. The hubs did great too! He looked really refreshed after the ride, don’t you agree? Hahaha πŸ˜›

DSC02789

DSC02794

Our third station was the Flying Coaster. I can’t remember if I had tried this ride before but it did seem a little less scary than the Corkscrew.

DSC02795

We were given two tasks to do before we could go up on the ride. First, we had to find 10 ‘flying’ words in the puzzle given to us. We only managed to find 6 until the marshal told us the words could be broken up too, and then we found the remaining 4 very quickly. -_-

IMG_1743

For our second task, one of us had to memorize a tongue twister in 20 seconds. There were a few tongue twisters printed on cards and were laid face down for us to choose. After memorizing for 20 seconds, we had to pass it to our partner, take the Flying Coaster together, and repeat the tongue twister to the marshal.

IMG_1747

However, the ride had to be closed for 20 minutes for maintenance check so we were all made to hula hoop for at least 10 seconds. As you can see, misterchewy is a better hula hooper than me. LOLOLOL. I was the one who memorized the tongue twister and it went, “I saw a saw that could out saw any other saw I ever saw.” I had to memorize under pretty stressful conditions ok!

DSC02796

Next up, we headed to Snow World at the indoor theme park! I think during the 2010 challenge, the participants had to finish a cold drink and ice cream at Snow World. I also said that I would rather do this 100 times than having to go through the thrill rides. Read on to find out what happened..

P1010289

We were supposed to carry a tube up and slide down. When we reached the bottom, we had to pick an ice cream flavor as shown in the above photo. If you and your partner picks the same flavor, one would have to go up, slide down and draw again, until you get a different flavor.

DSC02799

The first time, misterchewy and I got chocolate. So he offered to carry the tube up and slide down again. Draws chocolate. Up and down. Chocolate again omg. And then finally vanilla. ARGH.

DSC02802

Our next task was to finish the 5 (4 chocolate and 1 vanilla) cups of ice cream in 45 seconds! IMPOSSIBRU.

DSC02807

P1010296

We were made to finish all the ice cream before we could proceed to the next station. Boohoohoo! I had a love-hate relationship with ice cream that day.

DSC02808

The Flying Dragon is also located at the indoor theme park. The indoor rides are very mild and suitable for kids.

DSC02809

Guess what. We had to solve Sudoku and everyone took really long to solve it! Also had to solve two mathematical questions each before the Flying Dragon ride and tell the marshal our answers when we got down.

DSC02793

Deng! Deng! Deng! Deng! Space Shot! I tried this before at Ocean Park in Hong Kong and Movie World in Gold Coast so I have somewhat more experience than misterchewy. Haha! But I was still having cold feet before the ride D:

IMG_2066

DSC02811

The station marshal flashed us some names which belonged to the Genting mascots and we had to memorize them before the Space Shot ride. I was quite confident that I could remember “Tabby, Allie, Bennie, Geno, Joe” but the moment I sat down and started to tremble, I forgot everything. “Geno.. Beno..” Wrong already la.

DSC02813

Almost wanted to cry when we were slowly taking off!

DSC02814

Forcing a weak smile but I was like NO I wanna get down now!

DSC02815

DSC02816

Ok the ride was really quite scary and we agreed that the second drop was scarier than the first. We made it anyway! πŸ˜€ We had a time penalty of 40 seconds I think because we couldn’t remember the mascots’ names. Lol.

DSC02817

IMG_1792

Our task for the Pirate Ship station was quite a funny one. Within each team, we had to decide who would be sitting on the fourth or last row. The one on the fourth row would be blindfolded and had to help his/her partner draw his/her lips with a lipstick!

IMG_1795

Not very obvious on misterchewy because we chose an orange lipstick. But it did give him a sexier look. LOL!

DSC02819

DSC02820

DSC02822

Oh yeah~ Oh yeah~ Our 9th and final stop was the Sungei Rejang Flume Ride! Both of us had a piece of napkin pegged to the collars of our shirts. Our task was to keep the napkins dry! Very easy because we could just zip our jackets. πŸ˜‰

DSC02824

We rushed back to the finishing point which was the GICC Hall.

DSC02836

Our map and completed jigsaw puzzle! Yay! πŸ˜€

Once again, a very big thank you to Resorts World Genting for the kind invitation!

The Chewys’ Genting Adrenaline Junkie Challenge 2012 (Part One)

Sponsored Trip

DSC02575

Wassup chewy chewy friends? A few weeks ago, I received an invitation from Resorts World Genting to participate in the Adrenline Junkie Challenge 2012. Resorts World Genting is located in Malaysia. We stay in the hotel near Kuala Lumpur. We search Expedia for great hotel deals. Oh boy, I was really thrilled because I could bring a partner along! Also, our transportation, accommodation and meals will be fully taken care of! In my mind, I was thinking, “OMG! I have always wanted to go to Genting with misterchewy!” Now that the opportunity has been presented to me, how could I pass it up? πŸ˜› BUT, there was a slight catch. This part of the email was enough to make my heart thump really quickly. “You will need to go through the exciting thrill rides at the theme park plus additional tasks while at it. Kindly note that, you partner must take part in the challenge.” *GULP* We are not exactly adrenline junkies or daredevils! Anyway, all photos were taken using my old Sony compact camera because I didn’t think it would be a wise idea to lug my DSLR around at the theme park.

DSC02578

We were told to board the coach at Singapore Press Holdings (Toa Payoh) at 12pm. Guess what? There were only 8 of us! 3 bloggers and their partners, plus two Lian He Wan Bao readers.

DSC02577

Genting appeals to me as one of the couple getaway destinations because it is not too far from Singapore (about 7 hours coach journey. Lol), a one or two night stay should be sufficient, love the cool weather, and there are indoor and outdoor theme parks! πŸ˜€ We were really excited the minute we got on the coach but I also started to worry about the challenge because we had to go up on all the thrill rides in order to complete it πŸ™ Oh wells, let’s not worry too much for now! πŸ™‚

Passports chopped! Wheeeee~!

DSC02588

Stopover for lunch! We already had ours with the in-laws before they sent us to SPH, so we sat somewhere and filled up our indemnity forms.

DSC02627

After what seemed like eternity.. We finally reached GENTING HIGHLANDS! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ It was around 7pm and we got there and I was freezing because I wore shorts. More comfortable to wear shorts on the bus mah. Hehe.

DSC02629

The PR folks from RWG, Oprah and JQ handed us our room card keys and Genting t-shirts that we had to wear the next day!

DSC02732

Walking to First World Hotel. My last time to Genting was many years ago but I could still vividly remember certain things.

DSC02734

We were told to deposit our bags into our rooms and gather at the lobby so that JQ and Oprah could take us to our dinner venue. This time, I made sure I changed into a pair of jeans! πŸ˜›

DSC02677

Dinner was at Coffee Terrace. We had to walk a little bit to get there but at least it was way better than the First World Cafe. There is an ice cream promotion for the month of December, which explains the cute ice cream balloons hanging from the ceiling. Haha πŸ˜›

DSC02664

We were pleasantly surprised when we stepped into the restaurant. Coffee Terrace seemed like quite a nice buffet place!

DSC02641

I think all of us Singapore bloggers went to whack the Japanese section first. Sashimi and sushi galore! πŸ˜€

After that, it was pretty much free and easy for everyone. Since we had to endure a 7-hour journey here, we couldn’t just head back to our hotel so early right?! The husband and I decided to walk around and check out the indoor theme park πŸ˜€

I jokingly said that we should go on one of the rides as a form of warming up exercise in preparation of the next day’s challenge!

Us in the front carriage of Euro Xpress! Of course not scary one la. But we pretended to be really scared and screamed all the way. LOL!

Checked out the casino next. Was quite surprised that nobody stopped me from taking photos. I’m assuming it’s ok?

It was just look look see see, we didn’t gamble. Anyway there were quite a number of smokers there so we left after a while.

DSC02728

Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas! πŸ˜‰

DSC02630

Our room was located at First World Hotel’s Tower 2, on the 25th floor. When we were at the lobby, I asked misterchewy, “Our room is at which Tower ah? Tower 3 is it?” He replied, “Tower 3? You build yourself ah?” WIN. Bully me πŸ™

DSC02735

When misterchewy learned that we would be putting up at First World Hotel, he kept telling me about how small and cramped the rooms were and that there wasn’t sufficient space in the toilet for people to move around comfortably. However, he was quite impressed because the room was spacious with a couch beside the TV, and a bath tub in the toilet. Turns out that we were given the Superior Deluxe room πŸ˜€

Wedding Anniversary Photoshoot with Firefly Photography

DSC_0013

Whoohoo! TGIF chewy chewy friends! The week passed by like a flash. I know our first year wedding anniversary was on 9 September and it took me so long to post this πŸ˜› A couple of weeks before our anniversary, I chanced upon a Groupon deal for this 90 minute photoshoot with Firefly Photography at just $12. You must be thinking, “Yeah $12.. You gotta be kidding me right?” So smart, $12 includes only 5 edited photos. We had to top up $68 to get 50 edited photos and the remaining 100++ raw ones, which is still quite a good deal! πŸ˜€

DSC_0011-001

Here are some of the shots that I personally prefer. We were trying to think of a theme for our casual photoshoot and it was PICNIC! We bought some jumbo sized snacks from the supermarket and also a pink ukulele just for this shoot! πŸ˜› Location was at Hort Park and homaigawd it was really hot even at 10am.

Red Bull Stratos – Our Skydiving Experience at iFly Singapore!

Red Bull - iFly event 002

Hello and happy Monday, chewy chewy friends! I was invited to attend an event Red Bull Stratos – Mission to the Edge of Space at iFly Singapore on Saturday afternoon and what can I say? Indoor skydiving was such an exhilarating experience for me! πŸ˜€

Red Bull - iFly event 006

I totally jumped for joy when I received the invitation because it was not long ago when I mentioned in one of my blog posts that I would totally love to try skydiving at iFly Singapore. Didn’t expect my wish to come true so soon! Yay! πŸ˜›

Red Bull - iFly event 008

Red Bull - iFly event 019

We saw a group of four male skydivers in the wind tunnel. I’m guessing that they were training for some kinda competition. They looked really cool doing all those stunts!

Red Bull - iFly event 025

All bloggers had to register for the media event at the Skyloft rooftop bar and restaurant on level 5 and sit through a presentation thereafter.

Red Bull - iFly event 028

Part of the view from Skyloft. Too bad I don’t own any wide angle lens πŸ˜›

Red Bull - iFly event 041

To cut the long story short, Red Bull helps athletes realize their dreams and potential. This mission called Red Bull Stratos will take renowned athlete Felix Baumgartner to at least 120,000 feet above the earth, to the very edge of Space.

Felix will attempt a stratospheric free fall jump – the longest in the history of man – and hopefully will become the first human to break the speed of sound with his own body. Red Bull Stratos will attempt to make history and deliver valuable learnings for medical and scientific advancement that will aid the exploration of space in future years. Upon hearing about this awesome and magnificent Red Bull Stratos mission, I have got full respect and admiration for Felix Baumgartner and of course, Red Bull.

Everyone can watch the mission live when it happens! The target date is 9th October, Tuesday at around 8pm. However, the final day selected for a launch attempt will be determined by perfect weather conditions. The live mission HD broadcast stream will last between 3 to 4.5 hours, depending on weather conditions during balloon ascent and include an English language narrator. Find out more at the end of this post! πŸ™‚

Here’s a little teaser!

Red Bull - iFly event 037

Haven’t you heard that Red Bull gives you wings? Yeeeeehah! πŸ˜›

Red Bull - iFly event 043

After the interesting and engaging presentation given by Cheryl, Red Bull’s Communications Manager, we were all raring to fly! Before we proceeded to the training room, we were made to watch a short clip at the waiting area which kinda reminded me of Cartoon Network. LOL.

Red Bull - iFly event 044

Our instructor was Danny and he taught us some essential hand signals that we needed to be able to recognize while in the Flight Chamber. I thought of scuba diving instantly, simply because we can’t talk while in the water and in this case, we wouldn’t be able to hear each other with all that noise going on in the Flight Chamber! I miss scuba diving!

Red Bull - iFly event 046

Good thing I had fellow blogger, Charleen from www.gninethree.com to accompany me! I didn’t know anyone there.. #foreveralone πŸ™

Red Bull - iFly event 047

All of us had the chance to go through all hand signals prior the actual skydive.

Red Bull - iFly event 051

A shot with Charleen before we suited up! πŸ˜€

Red Bull - iFly event 057

Whoohoo! My heart was thumping with excitement at the thought of being able to skydive in the wind tunnel within the next few minutes!

Red Bull - iFly event 058

Red Bull - iFly event 060

Everyone had to put on goggles, ear plugs and helmet because the noise in the wind tunnel would be kinda deafening. We couldn’t really hear each other talking after we had our helmets on and had to raise our voices. LOL.

Red Bull - iFly event 062

No no no.. This hand sign isn’t ‘Call Me’. It’s ‘Relax’!

Red Bull - iFly event 065

We weren’t allowed to bring in our phones and cameras so some of the photos below were taken from the photo-viewing screens after our skydive. Not supposed to take photos of our photos but… shhhh πŸ˜›

Red Bull - iFly event 067

All bloggers were entitled to 2 skydives under the supervision and guidance of Danny. Very shiok!

Red Bull - iFly event 068

In case you are wondering, 2 skydives are priced at a range from $69 to $89 for adults, depending on super off-peak, off-peak and normal periods.

Red Bull - iFly event 055ed

A big thank you to Red Bull and SPRG for the invitation!

Red Bull - iFly event 056ed

The countdown begins! Please come back to watch how Felix Baumgartner make incredible history!

A Candylicious Day at Resorts World Sentosa for The Chewys!

Candylicious Day 005

Yoohoo! Tuesday is Chewsday! Hahaha πŸ˜› Just wanna share what misterchewy and I did over the weekend! We spent Saturday night visiting The Star Vista and had a nice dinner at Brotzeit before going home. Everywhere was jam-packed with people forming queues outside every single restaurant and eatery! On Sunday, we made it a point to wake up early so that we could make a fruitful trip to Resorts World Sentosa and to check out Candylicious Day! πŸ˜€ Nope, we didn’t go to USS although we had been there sometime around this time of the year, two years ago. Can’t remember when was the last time we went to Sentosa! I was kinda appalled when we stood in front of the ticketing machine, only to find out that the admission fee now costs $3.50 instead of $3. Is this 50cents increase justifable in the first place? Oh shucks now I sound like an auntie :S Hahaha I’m just kidding okay πŸ˜›

Candylicious Day 072

Candylicious, USS, Garett Popcorn, etc are all located at Waterfront Station, which is just one stop away from VivoCity.

Candylicious Day 011

CANDYLICIOUS! *screams* Seeing all these cute, colorful and cheery decorations is enough to brighten up my mood by tenfolds immediately! Anyway, this is the very FIRST Candylicious Day in Singapore! This is in celebration of Candylicious’ 1 year in Malaysia, 2 years in Singapore and 3 years in Dubai. πŸ˜€

Candylicious Day 013

Here’s misterchewy taking a bite of the gigantic Candylicious chocolate bar!

Candylicious Day 015

My brother and I used to sing to the M&M’s commercial on TV, “M&M’s chocolate melts in your mouth, not in your hand”. One of my all-time favorite chocolates, especially those with peanuts in them!

Candylicious Day 020

The husband loveeeeeees Reese’s milk chocolate peanut butter cups!

Candylicious Day 022-horz

Another side of misterchewy that you don’t get to see very often.. LOL!

Candylicious Day 006

Spot the Candylicious mascots! They went round distributing chocolates and candies, much to the delight of kids and adults alike.

Candylicious Day 008

You know ah.. Some people really cannot understand simple English or read instructions one la dey~ There was a sign which read, “Please take ONE only” and there was this uncle who grabbed a handful of Hersey’s.. >_<

Candylicious Day 046

There was a 21% discount when tattoos were presented to the Candylicious staff upon purchase! How sweeeeet is that?

We love the interior of the Malaysian Food Street! It felt as though we were transported to the old town of Malaysia in an instant.

Candylicious Day 060

Candylicious Day 052

Candylicious Day 055

The queues looked fairly manageable. I think the hype had more or less died down so I didn’t have to feel guilty about sending misterchewy to queue for our food πŸ˜›

Candylicious Day 057

We shared Char Kway Teow ($5) and Chicken Rice Balls ($4.50). Food was average but the prices were pretty ok. I had expected around $7 to $10 by RWS standards.

Candylicious Day 070

Candylicious Day 071

We left RWS shortly after lunch and to further utilize our admission ticket, we hopped on the monorail and entertained ourselves by watching ‘flyer’s have a go at iFly Singapore. Looks really fun! Might consider coming back to try this out, together with the Segway and Skyline Luge πŸ˜€

Candylicious Day 066

Oh yes, we also received our Candylicious Blogger’s Goodie Bag! πŸ˜€
